Daniel 1
1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoyakim the king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଯିହୋୟାକୀମ୍ର ଶାସନ କାଳର ତୃତୀୟ ବର୍ଷରେ ବାବିଲର ରାଜା ନବୂଖଦ୍ନିତ୍ସର ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ଆସି ତାହା ଅବରୋଧ କଲା।
2 And the Lord gave up into his hand Yehoyakim the king of Judah, with part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shin'ar into the house of his god, namely, he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
ପୁଣି, ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଯିହୋୟାକୀମ୍କୁ ଓ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଗୃହର କେତେକ ପାତ୍ର ତାହାର ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପି ଦେଲେ; ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଶିନୀୟର ଦେଶରେ ଥିବା ଆପଣା ଦେବ ମନ୍ଦିରକୁ ସେହି ସବୁ ନେଇଗଲା ଓ ପାତ୍ରସକଳ ସେ ଆପଣା ଦେବତାର ଭଣ୍ଡାର ଗୃହରେ ରଖିଲା।
3 And the king said unto Ashpenas, the chief of his eunuchs, that he should bring out of the children of Israel, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles,
ପୁଣି, ରାଜା ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ରାଜକୀୟ ଓ କୁଳୀନ ବଂଶରୁ
4 [Certain] lads in whom there should be no kind of blemish, but who should be handsome in appearance, and intelligent in all wisdom, and acquainted with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as should have the ability to serve in the king's palace, and that these should be taught the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
ନିଖୁଣ, ସୁନ୍ଦର ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଜ୍ଞାନରେ ନିପୁଣ, ବିଦ୍ୟାରେ ବିଚକ୍ଷଣ, ବୁଦ୍ଧିରେ ବିଜ୍ଞ ଓ ରାଜପ୍ରାସାଦରେ ଠିଆ ହେବାକୁ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ କେତେକ ଯୁବା ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଆଣିବାକୁ ଓ କଲ୍ଦୀୟ ବିଦ୍ୟା ଓ ଭାଷା ଶିଖାଇବାକୁ ଆପଣାର ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତି ଅସ୍ପନସ୍କୁ କହିଲା।
5 And the king ordered for them a daily provision for its day of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and to educate them three years, so that at the end thereof they should serve before the king.
ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ତିନି ବର୍ଷର ଶେଷରେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହେବେ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ରାଜା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ରାଜାର ଆହାରୀୟ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟରୁ ଓ ପାନୀୟ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସରୁ ଦୈନିକ ଅଂଶ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ ଓ ତିନି ବର୍ଷ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିପୋଷଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ନିରୂପଣ କଲା।
6 Now there were among these of the children of Judah, Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah.
ଏମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଯିହୁଦା ବଂଶୀୟ ଦାନିୟେଲ, ହନାନୀୟ, ମୀଶାୟେଲ ଓ ଅସରୀୟ ଥିଲେ।
7 And the chief of the eunuchs assigned them names; and he assigned to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Chananyah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to 'Azaryah, of 'Abed-nego.
ପୁଣି, ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନାମ ଦେଲା; ସେ ଦାନିୟେଲଙ୍କୁ ବେଲ୍ଟଶତ୍ସର, ହନାନୀୟଙ୍କୁ ଶଦ୍ରକ୍, ମୀଶାୟେଲଙ୍କୁ ମୈଶକ୍ ଓ ଅସରୀୟକୁ ଅବେଦ୍ନଗୋ ନାମ ଦେଲା।
8 But Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself with the food of the king, nor with the wine which he drank: and therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not need to defile himself.
ମାତ୍ର ରାଜାର ଆହାରୀୟ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟରେ ଓ ତାହାର ପାନୀୟ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଅଶୁଚି ନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଦାନିୟେଲ ନିଜ ମନରେ ସ୍ଥିର କଲେ; ଏହେତୁ ସେ ଯେପରି ଆପଣାକୁ ଅଶୁଚି ନ କରନ୍ତି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସେ ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତିଙ୍କୁ ନିବେଦନ କଲେ।
9 And God gave Daniel kindness and mercy before the chief of the eunuchs.
ସେତେବେଳେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସେହି ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତିର ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଦାନିୟେଲଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଓ ଦୟାର ପାତ୍ର କଲେ।
10 And the chief of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath ordered your food and your drink; for why should he see your face sadder looking than that of the lads who are of your age? and ye would thus endanger my head with the king.
ତହିଁରେ ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତି ଦାନିୟେଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଓ ପାନୀୟ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ନିରୂପଣ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, “ମୁଁ ଆପଣାର ପ୍ରଭୁ ସେହି ମହାରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କରେ; କାରଣ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ସମବୟସ୍କ ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କର ମୁଖ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମୁଖ କାହିଁକି ମଳିନ ଦେଖିବେ? ତାହାହେଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ମୋର ମସ୍ତକକୁ ସଂଶୟାପନ୍ନ କରିବ।”
11 Then said Daniel to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had given charge over Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah,
ତହିଁରେ ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତି ଦାନିୟେଲ, ହନାନୀୟ, ମୀଶାୟେଲ ଓ ଅସରୀୟଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଯେଉଁ ଗୃହାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷକୁ ନିଯୁକ୍ତ କରିଥିଲା, ତାହାକୁ ଦାନିୟେଲ କହିଲେ;
12 Prove, I beseech thee, thy servants, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink;
“ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ କରି ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦଶ ଦିନ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରନ୍ତୁ; ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭୋଜନ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଶସ୍ୟ ଓ ପାନ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଳ ଦିଆଯାଉ।
13 And then let our countenances be looked at before thee, and the countenance of the lads that eat the food of the king: and as thou mayest see [fitting], so deal with thy servants.
ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ମୁଖ ଓ ରାଜକୀୟ ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଭୋଜନକାରୀ ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କର ମୁଖ ଦେଖାଯାଉ; ତହିଁରେ ଆପଣ ଯେପରି ଦେଖନ୍ତି, ତଦନୁସାରେ ଆପଣ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ବ୍ୟବହାର କରନ୍ତୁ।”
14 And he hearkened unto them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଏହି ବିଷୟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ କଥା ଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କରି ଦଶ ଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପରୀକ୍ଷା କଲା।
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared better and fuller in flesh than [that of] all the lads who ate the food of the king.
ପୁଣି, ଦଶ ଦିନର ଶେଷରେ ରାଜକୀୟ ଆହାର ଭୋଜନକାରୀ ସକଳ ଯୁବାଙ୍କ ମୁଖ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମୁଖ ସୁନ୍ଦର ଦେଖାଗଲା ଓ ସେମାନେ ଅଧିକ ହୃଷ୍ଟପୃଷ୍ଟ ଦେଖାଗଲେ।
16 And the steward took away their [apportioned] food, and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
ଏଥିରେ ଗୃହାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସେହି ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଓ ପାନୀୟ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ବନ୍ଦ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଶସ୍ୟ ଦେଲା।
17 But as regardeth all these four lads, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
ଆଉ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସେହି ଚାରି ଯୁବାଙ୍କୁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଦ୍ୟା ଓ ଜ୍ଞାନରେ, ବୁଦ୍ଧି ଓ ନିପୁଣତା ଦେଲେ ପୁଣି, ଦାନିୟେଲ ଯାବତୀୟ ଦର୍ଶନ ଓ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ବିଷୟରେ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ହେଲେ।
18 And at the end of the days [after] which the king had said that they should be presented, the chief of the eunuchs presented them before Nebuchadnezzar.
ଆଉ, ରାଜା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯେଉଁ ସମୟ ନିରୂପଣ କରିଥିଲେ, ତାହା ଶେଷ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ନପୁଂସକାଧିପତି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନବୂଖଦ୍ନିତ୍ସରର ଛାମୁକୁ ଆଣିଲା।
19 And the king spoke with them; and there was not found among them all any one like Daniel, Chananyah, Mishael, and 'Azaryah: and so they served before the king.
ପୁଣି, ରାଜା ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆଳାପ କଲେ; ଆଉ, ସେହି ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଦାନିୟେଲ, ହନାନୀୟ, ମୀଶାୟେଲ ଓ ଅସରୀୟ ସମାନ କେହି ଦେଖାଗଲେ ନାହିଁ; ଏଣୁ ଏମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲେ।
20 And in every matter of wise understanding, which the king required of them, he found them ten times superior above all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his kingdom.
ଆଉ, ଜ୍ଞାନ ଓ ବୁଦ୍ଧି ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ଯେଉଁ କୌଣସି କଥା ରାଜା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, ସେହି ସକଳ ବିଷୟରେ ସେ ଆପଣାର ସମଗ୍ର ରାଜ୍ୟସ୍ଥ ଯାବତୀୟ ମନ୍ତ୍ରବେତ୍ତା ଓ ଗଣକ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ବିଜ୍ଞତା ଦଶଗୁଣ ଅଧିକ ଦେଖିଲା।
21 And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
ପୁଣି, ଦାନିୟେଲ କୋରସ୍ ରାଜାର ପ୍ରଥମ ବର୍ଷ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେଠାରେ ରହିଲେ।
