Amos 7
1 Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, he was forming locusts in the beginning of the sprouting up of the latter groweth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings [was over].
Niin Herra, Herra osoitti minulle näyssä; ja katso, yksi seisoi, joka heinäsirkkoja teki, juuri silloin, kuin oras rupesi käymään ylös, toisen kerran sittekuin kuningas oli antanut niittää.
2 And it came to pass, when they had made an end of eating up the herbs of the earth, that I said, O Lord Eternal, forgive, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!
Kuin ne niin tahtoivat kaiken tulon syödä maalta, sanoin minä: voi Herra, Herra, ole armollinen! kuka tahtoo Jakobin taas auttaa? sillä hän on aivan vähä.
3 The Lord bethought himself of this: It shall not be, said the Lord.
Niin Herra katui sitä: ei sen pidä tapahtuman, sanoi Herra.
4 Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, the Lord Eternal called forth the punishment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and consumed the ploughed field.
Niin Herra, Herra osoitti minulla näyssä, ja katso, Herra, Herra kutsui tulen rankaisemaan, jonka piti suuren syvyyden syömän, ja se söi jo parhaan osan.
5 Then said I, O Lord Eternal, forbear, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!
Niin minä sanoin: voi Herra, Herra, lakkaa nyt, kuka tahtoo Jakobia taas auttaa? sillä hän on aivan vähä.
6 The Lord bethought himself of this: Also this shall not be, said the Lord Eternal.
Niin Herra katui myös sitä: ei senkään pidä tapahtuman, sanoi Herra, Herra.
7 Thus he showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord was standing upon a wall [made] by a plumbline, and in his hand was a plumbline.
Mutta hän osoitti minulle tämän näyssä, ja katso, Herra seisoi muurin päällä, joka mittanuoralla mitattu oli, ja hän piti mittanuoran kädessänsä.
8 And the Lord said unto me, What dost thou see, 'Amos? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel; I will not farther indulge them any more.
Ja Herra sanoi minulle: mitäs näet, Amos? minä sanoin: mittanuoran. Herra sanoi: katso, minä tahdon vetää mittanuoran keskelle minun kansaani Israelia, ja en käy enään häntä ohitse.
9 And the high places of Isaac shall be made desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid in ruins: and I will rise up against the house of Jerobo'am with the sword.
Vaan Isaakin korkeudet pitää autioksi tuleman, ja Israelin pyhyydet pitää hävitettämän; ja minä tahdon nostaa miekan Jerobeamin huonetta vastaan.
10 Then sent Amazyah, the priest of Beth-el, to Jerobo'am the king of Israel, saying, 'Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
Niin Betelin pappi Amatsia lähetti Israelin kuninkaan tykö, sanoen: Amos tekee kapinan sinua vastaan Israelin huoneessa, eipä maakaan voi kaikkia hänen sanojansa kärsiä.
11 For thus hath 'Amos said, By the sword shall Jerobo'am die, and Israel shall surely be led away into exile out of their own land.
Sillä näin sanoo Amos: Jerobeamin täytyy miekalla kuolla, ja Israel pitää vietämän vangittuna pois maastansa.
12 And Amazyah said unto 'Amos, Seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and eat there [thy] bread, and there prophesy;
Ja Amatsia sanoi Amokselle: sinä näkiä, mene pois, ja ennusta siellä.
13 But at Beth-el prophesy not farther any more; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal residence.
Ja älä Betelissä enään ennusta; se on kuninkaan pyhä sia ja valtakunnan huone.
14 Then answered 'Amos, and said to Amazyah, I am no prophet, nor am I a prophet's son; but I am a herdman, and a gatherer of wild figs;
Amos vastasi ja sanoi Amatsialle: en minä ole propheta enkä prophetan poika, vaan minä olen karjan paimen ja marjain hakia.
15 But the Lord hath taken me away from behind the flocks, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Mutta Herra otti minun karjasta, ja sanoi minulle: mene ja ennusta minun kansaani Israelia vastaan.
16 And now hear thou the word of the Lord, Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and preach not against the house of Isaac.
Niin kuule siis Herran sanaa: sinä sanot: älä ennusta Israelia vastaan, älä myös puhu Isaakin huonetta vastaan;
17 Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Thy wife will play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided out by the line; and thou shalt die in an unclean land; and Israel shall surely be led forth into exile out of their land.
Sentähden sanoo Herra näin: sinun emäntäs pitää kaupungissa raiskattaman, ja sinun poikas ja tyttäres pitää miekalla lankeeman, ja sinun peltos pitää nuoralla jaettaman; mutta itse sinun pitää saastaisessa maassa kuoleman, ja Israel pitää ajettaman peräti pois maastansa.
