Amos 6
1 Woe to those that are free from care in Zion, and that are in safety on the mount of Samaria, who are named the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!
Wehe den Stolzen zu Zion und denen, die sich auf den Berg Samaria verlassen, die sich rühmen die Vornehmsten über die Heiden und gehen einher im Hause Israel!
2 Pass ye over unto Calneh, and see; and go from there to Chamath-rabbah; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: whether they be better than these kingdoms? or whether their territory be greater than your territory?
Gehet hin gen Kalne und schauet von dannen gen Hemath, die große Stadt, und ziehet hinab gen Gath der Philister, welche bessere Königreiche gewesen sind denn diese und ihre Grenze größer denn eure Grenze.
3 [Ye] that deem far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Die ihr euch weit vom bösen Tage achtet und trachtet immer nach Frevelregiment,
4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and are stretched out upon their couches, and eat lambs out of the flock, and calves out of the midst of the stall;
und schlafet auf elfenbeinernen Lagern und treibet Überfluß mit euren Betten; ihr esset die Lämmer aus der Herde und die gemästeten Kälber
5 That chant to the sound of the psaltery, and like David's do they imagine their instrument of music to be;
und spielet auf dem Psalter und erdichtet euch Lieder, wie David,
6 That drink out of wine-bowls, and anoint themselves with the costliest of ointments; but who feel no pain for the wound of Joseph.
und trinket Wein aus den Schalen und salbet euch mit Balsam und bekümmert euch nichts um den Schaden Josephs.
7 Therefore now shall they go into exile at the head of exiles, and the noisy banquet of those that were stretched out shall pass away.
Darum sollen sie nun vornean gehen unter denen, die gefangen weggeführet werden, und soll das Schlemmen der Pranger aufhören.
8 The Lord Eternal hath sworn by his own existence, saith the Lord the God of hosts, I abhor the pride of Jacob, and his palaces do I hate: therefore will I surrender up [to the enemy] the city with all that filleth it.
Denn der HERR HERR hat geschworen bei seiner Seele, spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth: Mich verdrießt die Hoffart Jakobs und bin ihren Palästen gram; und ich will auch die Stadt übergeben mit allem, was drinnen ist.
9 And it shall come to pass, that if there remain ten men in one house, they shall die.
Und wenn gleich zehn Männer in einem Hause überblieben, sollen sie doch sterben,
10 And should a man's uncle or relative carry him forth, to bring out the bones out of the house, and say unto him that is in the recesses of the house, Is there yet any one with thee? he will say, There is no one left. Then will he say, Be silent; for we may not make mention of the name of the Lord.
daß einen jeglichen sein Vetter und sein Ohm nehmen und die Gebeine aus dem Hause tragen muß und sagen zu dem, der in den Gemächern des Hauses ist: Ist ihrer auch noch mehr da? Und der wird antworten: Sie sind alle dahin! Und wird sagen: Sei zufrieden; denn sie wollten nicht, daß man des HERRN Namens gedenken sollte.
11 For, behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
Denn siehe, der HERR hat geboten, daß man die großen Häuser schlagen soll, daß sie Ritze gewinnen, und die kleinen Häuser, daß sie Lücken gewinnen.
12 Do horses ever run upon the rock? or will one plough there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;
Wer kann mit Rossen rennen oder mit Ochsen pflügen auf Felsen? Denn ihr wandelt das Recht in Galle und die Frucht der Gerechtigkeit in Wermut
13 Ye who rejoice for a thing of naught, who say, Have we not through our own strength procured ourselves horns?
und tröstet euch des, das so gar nichts ist, und sprechet: Sind wir denn nicht stark genug mit unsern Hörnern?
14 For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts, and they shall oppress you from the entrance of Chamath unto the brook of the wilderness.
Darum siehe, ich will über euch vom Haus Israel ein Volk erwecken, spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth, das soll euch ängsten von dem Ort an, da man gen Hemath gehet, bis an den Bach in der Wüste.
