Amos 5
1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, as a lamentation, O house of Israel.
Paminawa kining pulong nga akong ipasibaw ingon nga pagbangotan diha kaninyo, balay sa Israel.
2 She is fallen, she will not rise again—the virgin of Israel: she is thrown down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
Napukan ang babayeng ulay nga Israel; dili na siya makatindog; gisalikway siya sa iyang yuta; walay bisan usa nga mopatindog kaniya.
3 For thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The city that goeth forth with a thousand shall retain but a hundred, and she that goeth forth with a hundred shall retain but ten, [left] to the house of Israel.
Kay mao kini ang gisulti sa Ginoo nga si Yahweh: “Ang liboan nga migula sa siyudad mabinlan na lamang ug gatosan, ug kadtong migula uban sa gatosan mabinlan na lamang ug napulo ka sakop sa balay sa Israel.”
4 For thus hath said the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye for me, and ye shall live;
Kay mao kini ang gisulti ni Yahweh ngadto sa balay sa Israel: “Pangitaa ako ug pagkinabuhi!
5 But seek not for Beth-el, and into Gilgal enter not, and to Beer-sheba' do not pass over; for Gilgal shall surely go into exile, and Beth-el shall become naught.
Ayaw pangitaa ang Betel; ni mosulod sa Gilgal; ayaw pag-adto sa Berseba. Kay bihagon gayod ang Gilgal, ug mahimong kawang ang Betel.
6 Seek for the Lord, and ye shall live: so that he come not suddenly like fire over the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el;
Pangitaa si Yahweh ug pagkinabuhi, o iyang gun-obon pinaagi sa kalayo ang balay ni Jose. Pagalamuyon kini, ug walay bisan usa nga makapahunong niini sa Betel.
7 Ye who change justice into wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth!
Kadtong katawhan nga nagtuis sa hustisya ngadto sa pait nga butang ug ilabay ang matarong ngadto sa yuta!”
8 [But] he maketh the seven stars and Orion, and changeth into morning the shadow of death, and maketh the day dark into night; he it is that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out over the face of the earth: The Lord is his name;
Gibuhat sa Dios ang Pleiades ug ang Orion; gihimo niya nga kangitngit nga kabuntagon; gihimo niyang ngitngit ang adlaw pinaagi sa kagabhion ug gitawag ang katubigan sa dagat; gibobo niya kini ibabaw sa kalibotan. Si Yahweh ang iyang ngalan!
9 That causeth wasting to prevail against the strong, so that wasting shall come against the fortress.
Nagdala siya ug kalit nga kalaglagan sa mga kusgan aron nga moabot ang kalaglagan sa mga salipdanan.
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and him that speaketh uprightly they abhor.
Gidumtan nila ang si bisan kinsa sa ganghaan sa siyudad, ug ilang gisalikway ang si bisan kinsa nga nagsulti sa kamatuoran.
11 Therefore forasmuch as you tread down upon the poor, and ye take from him onerous contributions of corn: if ye have built houses of hewn stone, ye shall not dwell in them; if ye have planted pleasant vineyards, ye shall not drink their wine.
Tungod kay inyong gilupigan ang kabos ug gikuha ang mga bahin sa trigo gikan kaniya —bisan tuod ug nagbuhat kamo ug mga balay sa gitiltil nga bato, dili kamo makapuyo niini. Aduna kay maanindot nga parasan, apan dili kamo makainom ug bino niini.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your numerous sins: ye are those that are the adversaries of the just, that take a ransom, and that wrest [the cause of] the needy in the gate.
Kay nasayod ako nga daghan ang inyong kalapasan ug unsa kadako ang inyong mga sala—kamo nga nagsakit sa matarong, nagkuha ug mga suhol ug gisalikway ninyo ang mga timawa sa ganghaan sa siyudad.
13 Therefore will the intelligent keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
Busa kinsa kadtong maampingon nga tawo nagpakahilom niana nga panahon, kay daotan kining panahona.
14 Seek for the good, and not the evil, in order that ye may live: and so will the Lord, the God of hosts, be with you, as ye have said.
Pangitaa ang maayo ug dili ang daotan, aron mabuhi kamo. Busa Yahweh, ang Dios nga makagagahom, mag-uban kaninyo, samtang magsulti ka nga siya mao.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice firmly in the gate: perhaps the Lord the God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Dumti ang daotan, higugmaa ang maayo, ipatuman ang hustisya sa ganghaan sa siyudad. Tingali si Yahweh, ang Dios nga makagagahom, magmaluluy-on ngadto sa nahibilin nga kaliwat ni Jose.
16 Therefore thus hath said the Eternal, the God of hosts, the Lord, On all public places there is lamentation, and in all the streets they cry, Woe! woe! and they call the husbandman to mourning, and to lamentation those skilled in wailing.
Busa, mao kini ang gisulti ni Yahweh, ang Dios nga makagagahom, ang Ginoo, “Adunay pagminatay anaa sa plasa, ug magasulti sila sa tanang kadalanan, 'Pagkaalaot! Pagkaalaot! Gitawag nila ang mga mag-uuma nga magbangotan ug ang mga nagbangotan nga magminatay.
17 And in all vineyards there is lamentation; for I will pass through thy midst, saith the Lord.
Diha sa mga parasan adunay pagminatay, kay moagi ako sa inyong taliwala,” nagsulti si Yahweh.
18 Woe unto you that long for the day of the Lord! for what do you wish the day of the Lord? it is [one of] darkness, and not of light.
Alaot kamong nangandoy sa adlaw ni Yahweh! Nganong nangandoy man kamo sa adlaw ni Yahweh? Mangitngit kini ug walay kahayag,
19 As if a man were to flee from a lion, and a bear should meet him; and he enter into the house, and lean his hand against the wall, and a serpent should bite him.
sama sa tawo nga nag-ikyas gikan sa lion ug nakasugat siya sa uso, o moadto siya sa balay ug gibutang niya ang iyang kamot sa paril ug mipaak kaniya ang bitin.
20 Behold the day of the Lord is [one of] darkness, and not of light; yea, it is obscure, and hath no brightness.
Mahimo bang kangitngit ang adlaw ni Yahweh ug dili kahayag? ngi-ob ug walay kahayag?
21 I hate, I despise your feast-days, and I will not smell [the sacrifices] on your festive assemblies.
“Gidumtan ko, gisalikway ko ang iyong mga Pista, wala ako mahimuot sa inyong maligdong nga mga panagtigom.
22 For though ye should offer me burnt-offerings and your meat-offerings, I will not accept them in favor: and the peace-offerings of your fatted cattle will I not look at.
Bisan tuod naghalad kamo kanako ug mga halad sinunog ug mga halad nga trigo, dili ko kini dawaton, ni motan-aw sa halad sa pakigdait sa inyong ginatambok nga mga mananap.
23 Remove thou from around me the noise of thy songs: and the playing of thy psalteries I will not hear.
Ipalayo gikan kanako ang masaba ninyong panag-awit; dili ako maminaw sa tugtog sa inyong mga alpa.
24 But let justice roll along like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream.
Hinunoa, tugoti ang hustisya nga modagayday sama sa tubig, ug ang pagkamatarong magpadayon sama sa pagdagayday sa kasapaan.
25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and meat-offerings in the wilderness [during] forty years, O house of Israel?
Gidad-an ba ninyo ako ug mga sakripisyo ug mga halad didto sa kamingawan sulod sa 40 ka tuig, balay sa Israel?
26 Bear then the canopy of your chief idol, and the figure of your images, the star of your god, which ye have made for yourselves.
Gituboy ninyo si Sikut ingon nga inyong hari, ug si Kaiwan, ang inyong dios sa bituon—ang diosdios nga inyong gibuhat alang sa inyong mga kaugalingon.
27 And I will cause you to go into exile far beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, The God of hosts is his name.
Busa ipabihag ko kamo halayo pa sa Damascu,” nagsulti si Yahweh, nga ang ngalan mao ang Dios nga makagagahom.
