Amos 2
1 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime;
Így szól az Úr: Három bűne miatt a Moábnak, sőt négy miatt, nem fordítom el; mert mészszé égette Edom királyának csontjait!
2 And I will send a fire against Moab, which shall devour the palaces of Keriyoth: and Moab shall die in the tumult, in the shouting, amidst the sound of the cornet;
Tüzet vetek azért Moábra, és az emészti meg Kerijjoth palotáit, és meghal Moáb a zajban, hadi lárma közt, a kürt zengése közben.
3 And I will cut off the judges from her midst, and all her princes will I slay, with him, saith the Lord.
Kivágom a birót közüle, és minden fejedelmit megölöm vele egyetemben, ezt mondja az Úr.
4 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and did not keep his statutes, and their lying idols caused them to err, after which their fathers had walked;
Így szól az Úr: Három bűne miatt a Júdának, sőt négy miatt, nem fordítom el; mert megvetették az Úrnak törvényét és nem tartották meg rendeléseit. Eltévelyítették őket az ő hazugságaik, a melyeket az ő atyáik követtek.
5 And I will send out a fire against Judah, which shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
Tüzet vetek azért Júdára, és az emészti meg Jeruzsálem palotáit.
6 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they sold for silver the righteous, and the needy for a pair of shoes;
Így szól az Úr: Három bűne miatt az Izráelnek, sőt négy miatt, nem fordítom el; mert pénzért adták el az igazat, a szegényt pedig egy öltő saruért.
7 That are eager after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same young woman, in order to profane my holy name.
A kik a föld porát áhítják a szegények fejére, és a nyomorultak útját elfordítják. Fiú és az atyja egy leányhoz járnak, hogy megfertőztessék az én szent nevemet.
8 And upon pledged garments they stretch themselves out by every altar, and the wine of the condemned do they drink in the house of their gods.
Zálogos ruhákon nyujtózkodnak minden oltár mellett, és az elítéltek borát iszszák az ő istenök házában.
9 Yet have I destroyed the Emorite from before them, whose height was like the height of cedars, and who was strong as the oaks; but I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
Pedig én irtottam ki előlük az Emoreusokat, a kik magasak voltak, mint a czédrusok, erősek, mint a cserfák. Mégis kiirtottam gyümölcsét felül és gyökerét alul.
10 And it was I who have brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to take possession of the land of the Emorite.
És én hoztalak fel Égyiptom földéről, és negyven esztendeig én hordoztalak a pusztában titeket, hogy bírjátok az Emoreusok földét.
11 And I have raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for nazarites: is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord.
És prófétákat támasztottam a ti fiaitok közül és nazirokat ifjaitok közül. Nem így van-é vajjon, Izráel fiai? ezt mondja az Úr.
12 But ye have given the nazarites wine to drink; and concerning the prophets have ye commanded, saying, Ye shall not prophesy.
De a nazirokat borral itattátok, és a prófétákra ráparancsoltatok, mondván: Ne prófétáljatok!
13 Behold, I press down [the ground] under you, as the wagon presseth [it] down that is full of sheaves.
Ímé, én is lenyomlak titeket, ott a hol vagytok, mint a cséplő szekér lenyomja a kévékkel teli szérűt.
14 And refuge shall vanish from the swift, and the strong shall not make use of his force, neither shall the mighty man escape with his life.
Elvész azért a futás a gyorstól, és nem erősíti meg az erőst az ő ereje, és a hős sem menekedhetik.
15 And he that handleth the bow shall not be able to stand; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape: neither shall he that rideth the horse escape with his life.
Nem állja meg helyét az íjj-hordozó sem, nem menekülhet el még a gyorslábú sem, és a lovon ülő sem menekedhetik.
16 And he that is most courageous hearted among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, saith the Lord.
És a bátor szívű is a hősök között meztelenül fut el azon a napon, ezt mondja az Úr.
