2 Samuel 8
1 And it came to pass after this, that David smote the Philistines, and humbled them: and David took Metheg-haammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
Después de esto, David golpeó a los filisteos y los sometió; y David tomó el freno de la ciudad madre de la mano de los filisteos.
2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, laying them down on the ground; and he measured with two lines to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became David's servants, bringing presents.
Derrotó a Moab, y los midió con el cordel, haciéndolos acostar en el suelo; y midió dos cordeles para darles muerte, y un cordel completo para mantenerlos vivos. Los moabitas se convirtieron en siervos de David, y trajeron tributo.
3 David smote also Hadad'ezer, the son of Rechob, the king of Zobah, as he went to extend his territory at the river Euphrates.
David también hirió a Hadadézer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, cuando iba a recuperar su dominio en el río.
4 And David captured from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand men on foot: and David hamstringed all the chariot-teams, but reserved of them a hundred chariot-teams.
David le quitó mil setecientos jinetes y veinte mil hombres de a pie. David ató los caballos de los carros, pero reservó los suficientes para cien carros.
5 And the Syrians of Damascus then came to aid Hadad'ezer, the king of Zobah, when David slew of the Syrians twenty and two thousand men.
Cuando los sirios de Damasco vinieron a ayudar a Hadadézer, rey de Soba, David hirió a veintidós mil hombres de los sirios.
6 And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, bearing presents. And the Lord helped David whithersoever he went.
Entonces David puso guarniciones en Siria de Damasco, y los sirios se convirtieron en siervos de David y le trajeron tributo. El Señor le dio la victoria a David dondequiera que fuera.
7 And David took the shields of gold that belonged to the servants of Hadad'ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
David tomó los escudos de oro que tenían los siervos de Hadadézer y los llevó a Jerusalén.
8 And from Betach, and from Berothai, cities of Hadad'ezer, did king David take exceedingly much copper.
De Betah y de Berothai, ciudades de Hadadzer, el rey David tomó una gran cantidad de bronce.
9 And when To'i the king of Chamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadad'ezer,
Cuando Toi, rey de Hamat, se enteró de que David había golpeado a todo el ejército de Hadadézer,
10 Then did To'i send Yoram his son unto king David, to ask him after his well-being, and to bless him, because that he had fought against Hadad'ezer, and smitten him; for Hadad'ezer had been engaged in wars with To'i; and he had in his hand vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of copper:
entonces Toi envió a Joram, su hijo, a saludar al rey David y a bendecirlo, porque había luchado contra Hadadézer y lo había golpeado; pues Hadadézer tenía guerras con Toi. Joram trajo consigo vasos de plata, vasos de oro y vasos de bronce.
11 These also did king David sanctify unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had sanctified from all the nations which he subdued;
El rey David también los dedicó a Yahvé, con la plata y el oro que dedicó de todas las naciones que sometió:
12 From Syria, and from Moab, and from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from 'Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadad'ezer, the son of Rechob, the king of Zobah.
de Siria, de Moab, de los hijos de Amón, de los filisteos, de Amalec y del botín de Hadadézer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.
13 And David acquired a name when he returned from his smiting the Syrians in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand men.
David se ganó una reputación cuando volvió de abatir a dieciocho mil hombres de los sirios en el Valle de la Sal.
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David whithersoever he went.
Puso guarniciones en Edom. En todo Edom puso guarniciones, y todos los edomitas se convirtieron en siervos de David. El Señor le dio la victoria a David dondequiera que fuera.
15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David did what is just and right unto all his people.
David reinó sobre todo Israel; y David hizo justicia y rectitud a todo su pueblo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruyah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Achilud was recorder;
Joab, hijo de Sarvia, estaba al frente del ejército; Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era secretario;
17 And Zadok the son of Achitub, and Achimelech the son of Ebyathar, were priests; and Serayah was scribe;
Sadoc, hijo de Ajitub, y Ajimelec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; Seraías era escriba;
18 And Banayahu the son of Yehoyada' was over both the Kerethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were officers of state.
Benaía, hijo de Joiada, estaba al frente de los cereteos y de los peleteos; y los hijos de David eran ministros principales.
