2 Samuel 7

1 And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

Cuando el rey vivía en su casa, y el Señor le había dado descanso de la guerra por todos lados;

2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, while the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

El rey dijo al profeta Natán: Mira, vivo en una casa de cedro, pero el cofre del pacto de Dios está dentro de las cortinas de una tienda de campaña.

3 And Nathan said to the king, all that is in thy heart go and do; for the Lord is with thee.

Y Natán dijo al rey: Ve y haz lo que esté en tu corazón; porque el Señor está contigo.

4 And it came to pass during that night, That the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,

Esa noche vino la palabra del Señor a Natán, diciendo:

5 Go and say unto my servant, unto David, Thus hath said the Lord, Wilt thou indeed build me a house for my dwelling?

Ve y dile a mi siervo David: El Señor dice: No serás tú quien construya un templo para que habite en él.

6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even until this day; but have been moving about in a tent and in a tabernacle.

Porque desde el día en que saqué a los hijos de Israel de Egipto hasta hoy, no he tenido casa, sino que he ido de un lugar a otro en una tienda de campaña.

7 In all the places where I moved about among all the children of Israel, did I speak a word to any one of the tribes of Israel, whom I ordained to feed my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built for me a house of cedar?

En todos los lugares donde fui con todos los hijos de Israel, alguna vez dije a alguno de los jueces de Israel, a quienes cuidé de mi pueblo Israel, ¿por qué no me has hecho una casa de cedro?

8 Now therefore, thus shalt thou say unto my servant, to David, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheep-cote, from behind the flocks, to be a ruler over my people, over Israel;

Entonces di estas palabras a mi siervo David: El Señor de los ejércitos dice: Te saqué de los campos, para que no cuidases las ovejas, para que puedas gobernar a mi pueblo, a mi pueblo Israel.

9 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou didst go, and I have cut off all thy enemies from thy presence, and I have made thee a great name, like the name of the great who are on the earth;

Y he estado contigo dondequiera que fuiste, he acabado ante ti a todos los que estaban contra ti; y haré grande tu nombre, como el nombre de los más grandes de la tierra.

10 And I have procured a place for my people, for Israel, and I have planted them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and be no more troubled; and that the children of wickedness shall not afflict them any more as aforetimes,

Y haré un lugar de descanso para mi pueblo Israel, allí los he plantado, para que puedan vivir en el lugar que es de ellos, y nunca más ser movidos; y nunca más serán molestados por hombres malvados como lo fueron al principio,

11 And [as it was] since the day that I ordained judges to be over my people Israel; and I have caused thee to rest from all thy enemies; and the Lord telleth thee that he, the Lord, will make thee a house.

Desde el momento en que puse a los jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; y te daré paz de todos los que están contra ti. Y el Señor te dice que te hará la cabeza de una línea de reyes.

12 When thy days will be completed, and thou wilt sleep with thy fathers: then will I set up thy seed after thee, who shall proceed out of thy body, and I will establish his kingdom.

Y cuando llegue el momento de que vayas a descansar con tus padres, pondré en tu lugar a tu simiente después de ti, la descendencia de tu cuerpo, y estableceré su reino.

13 He it is that shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

Él será el constructor de una casa a mi nombre, y haré segura la sede de su autoridad para siempre.

14 I too will be to him as a father, and he shall indeed be to me as a son: so that when he committeth iniquity, I will chastise him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of man;

Seré para él un padre y él será para mí un hijo. Si él hace algo malo, le daré un castigo con la vara de los hombres y con los golpes de los hijos de los hombres.

15 But my kindness shall not depart from him, as I caused it to depart from Saul, whom I removed from before thee.

Pero mi misericordia no le será quitada, como la tomé del que fue antes que tú.

16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be steadfast for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

Y tu familia y tu reino mantendrán su lugar delante de mí para siempre; tu trono autoridad será establecido para siempre.

17 In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

Entonces Natán le dio a David un relato de todas estas palabras y esta visión.

18 Then went king David in, and sat down before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord Eternal? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me as far as hitherward?

Entonces, el rey David entró, se sentó ante el Señor y dijo: ¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor Dios, y cuál es mi familia, que has sido mi guía hasta ahora?

19 And this was yet too small a thing in thine eyes, O Lord Eternal; and thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a distant time. And is this the desert of man, O Lord Eternal?

Y esto era solo una pequeña cosa para ti, oh Señor Dios; ¡Pero tus palabras incluso han sido sobre el futuro lejano de la familia de tu siervo, oh Señor Dios!

20 And what can David add yet more to speak unto thee? since thou, O Lord Eternal, knowest well thy servant?

¿Qué más te puedo decir Señor? Porque tienes conocimiento de tu siervo, oh Señor Dios.

21 For the sake of thy word, and in accordance with thy own heart, hast thou done all this great thing, so as to let thy servant know it.

Por tu palabra y por tu corazón, has hecho toda esta gran obra y permite que tu siervo la vea.

22 Therefore art thou great, O Eternal God; for there is none like thee, and there is no God beside thee, in accordance with all that we have heard with our ears.

Verdaderamente eres grande, oh Señor Dios no hay nadie como tú y ningún otro Dios, sino tú, como nosotros mismos lo hemos oído.

23 And who is like thy people, like Israel, the only nation on the earth, which God went to redeem for himself as a people, and to acquire for himself a name, and to do for you this great deed, and fearful things for thy land [to drive out], from before thy people which thou hast redeemed for thyself from Egypt, nations and their gods.

Y qué otra nación en la tierra, como tu pueblo Israel, salió un dios para tomar para sí, para ser su pueblo y para hacerse un nombre, y para hacer cosas grandes y maravillas para ellos, expulsando a una nación y sus dioses?

24 For thou hast established for thyself thy people Israel as a people unto thee for ever; and thou, O Lord, art indeed become their God.

Pero tomaste y fortaleciste a tu pueblo Israel, para ser tu pueblo para siempre; y tú, Señor, te convertiste en su Dios.

25 And now, O Eternal God, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, stand firm for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.

Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, que la palabra que has dicho acerca de tu siervo y de su familia, sea cierta para siempre, ¡y puedes hacer lo que has dicho!

26 And let thy name be magnified unto everlasting, that men may say, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and may the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

Y tu nombre se haga grande para siempre, y que los hombres digan: ¡Él Señor de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel; y que la familia de David, tu siervo, se haga fuerte delante de ti!

27 For thou, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, saying, A house will be built up for thee; therefore hath thy servant found the heart to pray unto thee this prayer.

Porque tú, oh Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, has dicho claramente a tu siervo: Te convertiré en la cabeza de una familia de reyes, y así ha entrado en el corazón de tu siervo para hacer esta oración a ti.

28 And now, O Lord Eternal, thou art the [true] God, and thy words must become the truth, and thou hast spoken unto thy servant this goodness:

Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, tú eres Dios y tus palabras son verdaderas y has dicho que darás a tu siervo esta buena cosa;

29 And now let it please thee and bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Eternal, hast spoken it; and from thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

Para que sea un placer dar tu bendición a la familia de tu siervo, para que pueda continuar para siempre, porque tú oh Señor Dios, has dicho eso y que tu bendición ¡Permanece en la línea familiar de tu sirviente para siempre!
