2 Samuel 7

1 And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

Cuando el rey vivía en su casa, y Yahvé le había dado descanso de todos sus enemigos alrededor,

2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, while the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

el rey dijo al profeta Natán: “Mira ahora, yo habito en una casa de cedro, pero el arca de Dios habita dentro de las cortinas.”

3 And Nathan said to the king, all that is in thy heart go and do; for the Lord is with thee.

Natán dijo al rey: “Ve, haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, porque Yahvé está contigo”.

4 And it came to pass during that night, That the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,

Esa misma noche, la palabra de Yahvé llegó a Natán, diciendo:

5 Go and say unto my servant, unto David, Thus hath said the Lord, Wilt thou indeed build me a house for my dwelling?

“Ve y dile a mi siervo David: “Dice Yahvé: “¿Debes construirme una casa para que habite en ella?

6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even until this day; but have been moving about in a tent and in a tabernacle.

Porque no he vivido en una casa desde el día en que saqué a los hijos de Israel de Egipto, hasta hoy, sino que me he movido en una tienda y en un tabernáculo.

7 In all the places where I moved about among all the children of Israel, did I speak a word to any one of the tribes of Israel, whom I ordained to feed my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built for me a house of cedar?

En todos los lugares por donde he andado con todos los hijos de Israel, ¿he dicho alguna palabra a alguno de las tribus de Israel a quien mandé que fuera pastor de mi pueblo Israel, diciendo: “¿Por qué no me habéis construido una casa de cedro?”’

8 Now therefore, thus shalt thou say unto my servant, to David, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheep-cote, from behind the flocks, to be a ruler over my people, over Israel;

Ahora, pues, dile esto a mi siervo David: ‘Dice el Señor de los Ejércitos: “Te tomé del corral de las ovejas, de seguir a las ovejas, para ser príncipe de mi pueblo, de Israel.

9 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou didst go, and I have cut off all thy enemies from thy presence, and I have made thee a great name, like the name of the great who are on the earth;

Yo he estado contigo dondequiera que hayas ido, y he eliminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti. Te haré un nombre grande, como el nombre de los grandes que hay en la tierra.

10 And I have procured a place for my people, for Israel, and I have planted them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and be no more troubled; and that the children of wickedness shall not afflict them any more as aforetimes,

Designaré un lugar para mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré, para que habite en su propio lugar y no se mueva más. Los hijos de la maldad no los afligirán más, como al principio,

11 And [as it was] since the day that I ordained judges to be over my people Israel; and I have caused thee to rest from all thy enemies; and the Lord telleth thee that he, the Lord, will make thee a house.

y como desde el día en que ordené que hubiera jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel. Les haré descansar de todos sus enemigos. Además, Yahvé te dice que Yahvé te hará una casa.

12 When thy days will be completed, and thou wilt sleep with thy fathers: then will I set up thy seed after thee, who shall proceed out of thy body, and I will establish his kingdom.

Cuando se cumplan tus días y duermas con tus padres, levantaré después de ti a tu descendiente, que saldrá de tu cuerpo, y estableceré su reino.

13 He it is that shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

Él construirá una casa a mi nombre, y yo estableceré el trono de su reino para siempre.

14 I too will be to him as a father, and he shall indeed be to me as a son: so that when he committeth iniquity, I will chastise him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of man;

Yo seré su padre, y él será mi hijo. Si comete una iniquidad, lo castigaré con vara de hombres y con azotes de hijos de hombres;

15 But my kindness shall not depart from him, as I caused it to depart from Saul, whom I removed from before thee.

pero mi bondad no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl, a quien expulsé antes de ti.

16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be steadfast for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

Tu casa y tu reino serán asegurados para siempre delante de ti. Tu trono será establecido para siempre””.

17 In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

Natán le dijo a David todas estas palabras y según toda esta visión.

18 Then went king David in, and sat down before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord Eternal? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me as far as hitherward?

Entonces el rey David entró y se sentó delante de Yahvé, y dijo: “¿Quién soy yo, Señor Yahvé, y cuál es mi casa, para que me hayas traído hasta aquí?

19 And this was yet too small a thing in thine eyes, O Lord Eternal; and thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a distant time. And is this the desert of man, O Lord Eternal?

Esto era aún poco a tus ojos, Señor Yahvé, pero también has hablado de la casa de tu siervo por mucho tiempo; y esto entre los hombres, Señor Yahvé.

20 And what can David add yet more to speak unto thee? since thou, O Lord Eternal, knowest well thy servant?

¿Qué más puede decirte David? Porque tú conoces a tu siervo, Señor Yahvé.

21 For the sake of thy word, and in accordance with thy own heart, hast thou done all this great thing, so as to let thy servant know it.

Por tu palabra, y según tu propio corazón, has obrado toda esta grandeza, para que tu siervo la conozca.

22 Therefore art thou great, O Eternal God; for there is none like thee, and there is no God beside thee, in accordance with all that we have heard with our ears.

Por eso eres grande, Yahvé Dios. Porque no hay nadie como tú, ni hay otro Dios fuera de ti, según todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

23 And who is like thy people, like Israel, the only nation on the earth, which God went to redeem for himself as a people, and to acquire for himself a name, and to do for you this great deed, and fearful things for thy land [to drive out], from before thy people which thou hast redeemed for thyself from Egypt, nations and their gods.

¿Qué nación hay en la tierra que sea como tu pueblo, como Israel, al que Dios fue a redimir para sí como pueblo, y a hacerse un nombre, y a hacer cosas grandes para ti, y cosas impresionantes para tu tierra, ante tu pueblo, al que redimiste para ti de Egipto, de las naciones y de sus dioses?

24 For thou hast established for thyself thy people Israel as a people unto thee for ever; and thou, O Lord, art indeed become their God.

Estableciste para ti a tu pueblo Israel para que fuera tu pueblo para siempre; y tú, Yahvé, te convertiste en su Dios.

25 And now, O Eternal God, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, stand firm for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.

“Ahora bien, Yahvé Dios, la palabra que has pronunciado sobre tu siervo y sobre su casa, confírmala para siempre y haz lo que has dicho.

26 And let thy name be magnified unto everlasting, that men may say, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and may the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

Que tu nombre sea engrandecido para siempre, diciendo: ‘El Señor de los Ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel; y la casa de tu siervo David será establecida ante ti’.

27 For thou, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, saying, A house will be built up for thee; therefore hath thy servant found the heart to pray unto thee this prayer.

Porque tú, Señor de los Ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has revelado a tu siervo, diciendo: ‘Yo te construiré una casa’. Por eso tu siervo ha encontrado en su corazón el rezarte esta oración.

28 And now, O Lord Eternal, thou art the [true] God, and thy words must become the truth, and thou hast spoken unto thy servant this goodness:

“Ahora bien, Señor Yahvé, tú eres Dios, y tus palabras son verdaderas, y has prometido este bien a tu siervo.

29 And now let it please thee and bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Eternal, hast spoken it; and from thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

Ahora, pues, te conviene bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que permanezca para siempre ante ti; porque tú, Señor Yahvé, lo has dicho. Que la casa de tu siervo sea bendecida para siempre con tu bendición”.
