2 Samuel 7

1 And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

Or avvenne che il re, quando si fu stabilito nella sua casa e l’Eterno gli ebbe dato riposo liberandolo da tutti i suoi nemici d’ogn’intorno,

2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, while the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

disse al profeta Nathan: “Vedi, io abito in una casa di cedro, e l’arca di Dio sta sotto una tenda”.

3 And Nathan said to the king, all that is in thy heart go and do; for the Lord is with thee.

Nathan rispose al re: “Va’, fa’ tutto quello che hai in cuore di fare, poiché l’Eterno e teco”.

4 And it came to pass during that night, That the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,

Ma quella stessa notte la parola dell’Eterno fu diretta a Nathan in questo modo:

5 Go and say unto my servant, unto David, Thus hath said the Lord, Wilt thou indeed build me a house for my dwelling?

“Va’ e di’ al mio servo Davide: Così dice l’Eterno: Saresti tu quegli che mi edificherebbe una casa perch’io vi dimori?

6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even until this day; but have been moving about in a tent and in a tabernacle.

Ma io non ho abitato in una casa, dal giorno che trassi i figliuoli d’Israele dall’Egitto, fino al dì d’oggi; ho viaggiato sotto una tenda e in un tabernacolo.

7 In all the places where I moved about among all the children of Israel, did I speak a word to any one of the tribes of Israel, whom I ordained to feed my people Israel, saying, Why have ye not built for me a house of cedar?

Dovunque sono andato, or qua, or là, in mezzo a tutti i figliuoli d’Israele, ho io forse mai parlato ad alcuna delle tribù a cui avevo comandato di pascere il mio popolo d’Israele, dicendole: Perché non mi edificate una casa di cedro?

8 Now therefore, thus shalt thou say unto my servant, to David, Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheep-cote, from behind the flocks, to be a ruler over my people, over Israel;

Ora dunque parlerai così al mio servo Davide: Così dice l’Eterno degli eserciti: Io ti presi dall’ovile, di dietro alle pecore, perché tu fossi il principe d’Israele, mio popolo;

9 And I have been with thee whithersoever thou didst go, and I have cut off all thy enemies from thy presence, and I have made thee a great name, like the name of the great who are on the earth;

e sono stato teco dovunque sei andato, ho sterminato dinanzi a te tutti i tuoi nemici, e ho reso il tuo nome grande come quello dei grandi che son sulla terra;

10 And I have procured a place for my people, for Israel, and I have planted them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and be no more troubled; and that the children of wickedness shall not afflict them any more as aforetimes,

ho assegnato un posto ad Israele, mio popolo, e ve l’ho piantato perché abiti in casa sua e non sia più agitato, né seguitino gl’iniqui ad opprimerlo come prima,

11 And [as it was] since the day that I ordained judges to be over my people Israel; and I have caused thee to rest from all thy enemies; and the Lord telleth thee that he, the Lord, will make thee a house.

e fin dal tempo in cui avevo stabilito dei giudici sul mio popolo d’Israele; e t’ho dato riposo liberandoti da tutti i tuoi nemici. Di più, l’Eterno t’annunzia che ti fonderà una casa.

12 When thy days will be completed, and thou wilt sleep with thy fathers: then will I set up thy seed after thee, who shall proceed out of thy body, and I will establish his kingdom.

Quando i tuoi giorni saranno compiuti e tu giacerai coi tuoi padri, io innalzerò al trono dopo di te la tua progenie, il figlio che sarà uscito dalle tue viscere, e stabilirò saldamente il suo regno.

13 He it is that shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

Egli edificherà una casa al mio nome, ed io renderò stabile in perpetuo il trono del suo regno.

14 I too will be to him as a father, and he shall indeed be to me as a son: so that when he committeth iniquity, I will chastise him with the rod of men, and with the plagues of the children of man;

Io sarò per lui un padre, ed egli mi sarà figliuolo; e, se fa del male, lo castigherò con verga d’uomo e con colpi da figli d’uomini,

15 But my kindness shall not depart from him, as I caused it to depart from Saul, whom I removed from before thee.

ma la mia grazia non si dipartirà da lui, come s’è dipartita da Saul, ch’io ho rimosso d’innanzi a te.

16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be steadfast for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

E la tua casa e il tuo regno saranno saldi per sempre, dinanzi a te, e il tuo trono sarà reso stabile in perpetuo”.

17 In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

Nathan parlò a Davide, secondo tutte queste parole e secondo tutta questa visione.

18 Then went king David in, and sat down before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord Eternal? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me as far as hitherward?

Allora il re Davide andò a presentarsi davanti all’Eterno e disse: “Chi son io, o Signore, o Eterno, e che è la mia casa, che tu m’abbia fatto arrivare fino a questo punto?

19 And this was yet too small a thing in thine eyes, O Lord Eternal; and thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a distant time. And is this the desert of man, O Lord Eternal?

E questo è parso ancora poca cosa agli occhi tuoi, o Signore, o Eterno; e tu hai parlato anche della casa del tuo servo per un lontano avvenire, sebbene questa tua legge, o Signore, o Eterno, si riferisca a degli uomini.

20 And what can David add yet more to speak unto thee? since thou, O Lord Eternal, knowest well thy servant?

Che potrebbe Davide dirti di più? Tu conosci il tuo servo, Signore, Eterno!

21 For the sake of thy word, and in accordance with thy own heart, hast thou done all this great thing, so as to let thy servant know it.

Per amor della tua parola e seguendo il cuor tuo, hai compiuto tutte queste grandi cose per rivelarle al tuo servo.

22 Therefore art thou great, O Eternal God; for there is none like thee, and there is no God beside thee, in accordance with all that we have heard with our ears.

Tu sei davvero grande, o Signore, o Eterno! Nessuno è pari a te, e non v’è altro Dio fuori di te, secondo tutto quello che abbiamo udito coi nostri orecchi.

23 And who is like thy people, like Israel, the only nation on the earth, which God went to redeem for himself as a people, and to acquire for himself a name, and to do for you this great deed, and fearful things for thy land [to drive out], from before thy people which thou hast redeemed for thyself from Egypt, nations and their gods.

E qual popolo è come il tuo popolo, come Israele, l’unica nazione sulla terra che Dio sia venuto a redimere per formare il suo popolo, e per farsi un nome, e per compiere a suo pro cose grandi e tremende, cacciando d’innanzi al tuo popolo che ti sei redento dall’Egitto, delle nazioni coi loro dèi?

24 For thou hast established for thyself thy people Israel as a people unto thee for ever; and thou, O Lord, art indeed become their God.

Tu hai stabilito il tuo popolo d’Israele per esser tuo popolo in perpetuo; e tu, o Eterno, sei divenuto il suo Dio.

25 And now, O Eternal God, let the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, stand firm for ever, and do as thou hast spoken.

Or dunque, o Signore, o Eterno, la parola che hai pronunziata riguardo al tuo servo ed alla sua casa mantienila per sempre, e fa’ come hai detto.

26 And let thy name be magnified unto everlasting, that men may say, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and may the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

E il tuo nome sia magnificato in perpetuo, e si dica: L’Eterno degli eserciti è l’Iddio d’Israele! E la casa del tuo servo Davide sia stabile dinanzi a te!

27 For thou, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, saying, A house will be built up for thee; therefore hath thy servant found the heart to pray unto thee this prayer.

Poiché tu, o Eterno degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele, hai fatto una rivelazione al tuo servo e gli hai detto: Io ti edificherò una casa! Perciò il tuo servo ha preso l’ardire di rivolgerti questa preghiera.

28 And now, O Lord Eternal, thou art the [true] God, and thy words must become the truth, and thou hast spoken unto thy servant this goodness:

Ed ora, o Signore, o Eterno, tu sei Dio, le tue parole sono verità, e hai promesso questo bene al tuo servo;

29 And now let it please thee and bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee; for thou, O Lord Eternal, hast spoken it; and from thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

piacciati dunque benedire ora la casa del tuo servo, affinch’ella sussista in perpetuo dinanzi a te! Poiché tu, o Signore, o Eterno, sei quegli che ha parlato, e per la tua benedizione la casa del tuo servo sarà benedetta in perpetuo!”
