< 2 Samuel 6 >
1 And David assembled again all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
Pea naʻe toe tānaki fakataha ʻe Tevita ʻae kau ongoongoa ʻi ʻIsileli, ko e toko tolu mano.
2 And David arose, and went with all the people who were with him from Ba'ale-yehudah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the name of which was called by the name of the Lord of hosts, that dwelleth over the cherubim.
Pea naʻe tuʻu hake ʻa Tevita, pea ne ʻalu ia mo e kakai naʻe ʻiate ia mei Peali ʻi Siuta, ke ʻomi mei ai ʻae puha tapu ʻoe ʻOtua, ʻaia ʻoku fakahingoa ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi, ʻaia ʻoku nofo ʻi he vahaʻa ʻoe selupimi.
3 And they conveyed the ark of God in a new wagon, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was on the hill; and 'Uzzah and Achyo, the sons of Abinadab, guided the new wagon.
Pea naʻa nau fakaheka ʻae puha ʻoe ʻOtua ki he saliote foʻou, ʻonau ʻomi ia ki he fale ʻo ʻApinatapi ʻaia naʻe ʻi Kipea: pea naʻe fakahinohinoʻi ʻae saliote foʻou ʻe Usa mo ʻAhio ko e ongo foha ʻo ʻApinatapi.
4 When they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was on the hill, [they were] near the ark of God; but Achyo went before the ark.
Pea naʻa nau ʻomi ia kituʻa mei he fale ʻo ʻApinatapi ʻaia naʻe ʻi Kipea: ʻonau ō mo e puha ʻoe ʻOtua; pea naʻe muʻomuʻa ʻa ʻAhio ʻi he puha.
5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir-wood, and on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and with bells, and with cymbals.
Pea naʻe tā ʻe Tevita mo e fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli ʻae ngaahi meʻa faiva kehekehe naʻe [ngaohi ]mei he ʻakau ko e paini, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi haʻape mo e ʻūtete, mo e lali iiki, mo e meʻa ifi, mo e simipale.
6 And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nachon, 'Uzzah put forth [his hand] to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
Pea ʻi heʻenau hoko mai ki he potu hahaʻanga uite ʻo Nakoni, naʻe ala atu ʻe Usa ki he puha ʻoe ʻOtua, mo ne puke ki ai, koeʻuhi naʻe fakangalulu ia ʻe he fanga pulu.
7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against 'Uzzah; and God smote him there for the error; and he died there by the ark of God.
Pea naʻe tupu ai ʻae houhau ʻa Sihova kia Usa; pea naʻe taaʻi ia ʻi ai ʻe he ʻOtua koeʻuhi ko ʻene fai hala; pea naʻa ne mate ʻi he potu ko ia ʻo ofi ki he puha ʻoe ʻOtua.
8 And it was grievous to David, because the Lord had suddenly taken away 'Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-'uzzah [[Breach of 'Uzzah]] until this day.
Pea naʻe ʻita ʻa Tevita koeʻuhi ko e teʻia ʻa Usa ʻe Sihova: pea naʻa ne fakahingoa ʻae potu ko ia ko Pelesi-Usa, ʻo aʻu mai ki he ʻaho ni.
9 And David was afraid of the Lord on that day, and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?
Pea naʻe manavahē ʻa Tevita kia Sihova ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, mo ne pehē, “ʻE ʻomi fakafēfē ʻae puha tapu ʻo Sihova kiate au?”
10 So David would not allow to have the ark of the Lord removed unto him into the city of David; but David had it carried round into the house of 'Obed-edom the Gittite.
Ko ia naʻe ʻikai loto ʻa Tevita ke ʻomi kiate ia ʻae puha ʻo Sihova ki he Kolo ʻo Tevita: ka naʻe ʻave ʻo afe ʻaki ia ʻe Tevita ki he fale ʻo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi ko e tangata Kati.
11 And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of 'Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed 'Obed-edom, and all his household.
Pea naʻe nofo ʻae puha ʻo Sihova ʻi he fale ʻo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi ko e tangata Kati ʻi he māhina ʻe tolu: pea naʻe tāpuaki ʻe Sihova ʻa ʻOpeti-ʻItomi, pea mo hono kaungā fale kotoa pē.
12 And it was told to king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of 'Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God: and David then went and brought up the ark of God from the house of 'Obed-edom into the city of David with joy.
Pea naʻe fakahā kia Tevita, ʻo pehē, Kuo fakamonūʻia ʻae fale ʻo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi, mo ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻaʻana, koeʻuhi ko e puha tapu ʻoe ʻOtua. Ko ia naʻe ʻalu ai ʻa Tevita ʻo ne ʻomi ʻae puha ʻoe ʻOtua mei he fale ʻo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi ki he Kolo ʻo Tevita, mo e fiefia.
13 And it happened, that when the bearers of the ark of the Lord had progressed six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.
Pea naʻe pehē, ʻi he Lakaatu ʻakinautolu naʻe fua ʻae puha ʻo Sihova ʻi he lakaʻanga ʻe ono, naʻa ne feilaulau ʻaki ʻae fanga pulu mo e fanga manu sino.
14 And David danced with all his might before the Lord; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
Pea naʻe meʻe ʻa Tevita ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ʻaki ʻa ʻene mālohi kātoa; pea naʻe kofuʻaki ʻa Tevita ʻae ʻefoti ʻoe tupenu lelei.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the cornet.
Ko ia naʻe ʻomi ʻae puha ʻo Sihova ʻe Tevita mo e fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻi he kalanga, mo e ifi ʻaki ʻae meʻalea.
16 And it happened, as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked through the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
Pea ʻi heʻene hoko atu ʻae puha ʻo Sihova ki he Kolo ʻo Tevita, naʻe sio ʻa Mikale ko e ʻofefine ʻo Saula mei he kātupa, pea ne mamata kia Tevita naʻe hopo mo meʻe ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova; pea naʻa ne manuki ia ʻi hono loto.
17 And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt-offerings before the Lord and peace-offerings.
Pea naʻa nau ʻomi ki loto ʻae puha ʻo Sihova, ʻo tuku ia ki hono potu, ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fale fehikitaki, ʻaia naʻe ngaohi ki ai ʻe Tevita: pea naʻe ʻatu ʻe Tevita ʻae ngaahi feilaulau tutu, mo e ngaahi feilaulau fakamelino ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova.
18 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.
Pea ʻi heʻene hili leva ʻae ʻatu ʻe Tevita ʻae ngaahi feilaulau tutu mo e ngaahi feilaulau fakamelino, naʻa ne tāpuaki ʻae kakai ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi.
19 And he dealt out to all the people, to the whole multitude of Israel, to both men and women, to every person one cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine: and all the people departed every one to his house.
Pea naʻa ne tufaki atu ki he kakai kotoa pē, ki he fuʻu tokolahi kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, ki he kau fefine pea mo e kakai tangata, ko e taki taha ha foʻi mā, mo ha konga lahi ʻoe kanomate, mo ha hina uaine. Pea naʻe ʻalu ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻo taki taha ki hono fale ʻoʻona.
20 And David then returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and she said, How honored was today the king of Israel, who uncovered himself today before the eyes of the hand-maids of his servants, as only one of the low fellows can uncover himself!
Hili ia naʻe foki mai ʻa Tevita ke tāpuakiʻi ʻa hono kaungā nofoʻanga. Pea naʻe haʻu kituʻa ʻa Mikale ko e ʻofefine ʻo Saula, ke ne fetaulaki mo Tevita, mo ne pehē ʻe ia, “Hono ʻikai ngalingali ʻeiki ʻae tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli he ʻaho ni, ʻaia naʻa ne fakatelefuaʻi ia he ʻaho ni ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kau fefine ʻo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki, ʻo hangē ko e fakatelefua ʻoku fai ʻe ha tokotaha ʻoku fakalaukau mo e taʻeangamā!”
21 And David said unto Michal, Before the Lord, who chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to ordain me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: —yea, before the Lord will I yet farther play.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia Mikale, “[Naʻe fai ia ʻi ]he ʻao ʻo Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne fili au ʻi he ʻao ʻo hoʻo tamai mo e ʻao ʻo hono fale kotoa pē, ke ne fakanofo au ko e pule ki he kakai ʻo Sihova, ki ʻIsileli: ko ia te u fakafiefia ai ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova.
22 And should I be yet more vile than thus, and should I be base in my own eyes: yet among the maid-servants of whom thou hast spoken, yea, among them would I still be honored.
Pea te u fai ke u mata kovi lahi hake ʻi he meʻa ni, pea te u matamata kovi ʻi hoku ʻao ʻoʻoku: pea ko e kau kaunanga kuo ke lea ki ai, ʻe fakahikihiki au ʻekinautolu.”
23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child until the day of her death.
Ko ia naʻe ʻikai fānau ai ha tamasiʻi ʻe Mikale ko e ʻofefine ʻo Saula ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ʻo ʻene pekia.
