2 Samuel 6
1 And David assembled again all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
Et David rassembla encore toute la jeunesse d'Israël, environ soixante-dix mille hommes.
2 And David arose, and went with all the people who were with him from Ba'ale-yehudah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the name of which was called by the name of the Lord of hosts, that dwelleth over the cherubim.
Puis, il se mit en marche avec tout son peuple et une partie des princes de Juda, pour une expédition dont le but était de ramener l'arche de Dieu, sur laquelle était invoqué le nom du Seigneur Dieu des armées, qui résidait entre les chérubins.
3 And they conveyed the ark of God in a new wagon, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was on the hill; and 'Uzzah and Achyo, the sons of Abinadab, guided the new wagon.
Ils placèrent donc l'arche du Seigneur sur un chariot neuf, et ils l'enlevèrent de la maison que possédait Aminadab sur la colline. Oza et ses frères, fils d'Aminadab, conduisaient le chariot avec l'arche.
4 When they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was on the hill, [they were] near the ark of God; but Achyo went before the ark.
Et ses frères précédaient l'arche.
5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir-wood, and on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and with bells, and with cymbals.
David et les fils d'Israël, avec une harmonie pleine de force, jouaient devant le Seigneur d'une multitude d'instruments: harpes, lyres, tambours, cymbales et flûtes, au milieu des cantiques.
6 And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nachon, 'Uzzah put forth [his hand] to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
Et ils arrivèrent à l'aire de Nachor. Là, Oza étendit la main sur l'arche de Dieu, pour la raffermir, et il la saisit, parce que l'un des bœufs l'avait ébranlée.
7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against 'Uzzah; and God smote him there for the error; and he died there by the ark of God.
Et le Seigneur, en son âme, s'irrita contre Oza, et Dieu le frappa sur le lieu, et il mourut à côté de l'arche du Seigneur, devant Dieu.
8 And it was grievous to David, because the Lord had suddenly taken away 'Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-'uzzah [[Breach of 'Uzzah]] until this day.
David fut abattu, parce que Dieu avait châtié Oza; et ce lieu fut appelé le Châtiment d'Oza, nom qu'il porte encore de nos jours.
9 And David was afraid of the Lord on that day, and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?
Et David, ce jour-là, eut crainte du Seigneur, et il dit: Comment l'arche du Seigneur entrera-t-elle chez moi?
10 So David would not allow to have the ark of the Lord removed unto him into the city of David; but David had it carried round into the house of 'Obed-edom the Gittite.
Et David ne voulut pas que l'on déposât chez lui, dans la ville de David, l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur; il la fit donc placer en la maison d'Abdara le Géthéen.
11 And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of 'Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed 'Obed-edom, and all his household.
L'arche du Seigneur resta trois mois en la maison d'Abdara le Géthéen; et le Seigneur bénit toute la maison d'Abdara et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
12 And it was told to king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of 'Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God: and David then went and brought up the ark of God from the house of 'Obed-edom into the city of David with joy.
Or, des gens vinrent l'apprendre au roi David, disant: Le Seigneur a béni la maison d'Abdara et tout ce qui lui appartient, à cause de l'arche de Dieu. Alors, David partit, et il amena, plein de joie, l'arche du Seigneur de la maison d'Abdara à la ville de David.
13 And it happened, that when the bearers of the ark of the Lord had progressed six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.
Il y avait avec lui ceux qui devaient porter l'arche, sept chœurs; et, pour les sacrifices, un veau et des béliers.
14 And David danced with all his might before the Lord; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
Et David touchait, devant le Seigneur, d'un instrument accordé, et il était revêtu d'une robe de forme inaccoutumée.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the cornet.
David, avec toute la maison d'Israël, conduisit l'arche du Seigneur au son de la trompette et à grands cris.
16 And it happened, as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked through the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
Lorsque l'arche entra dans la ville de David, Michol, fille de Saül, se penchant à sa fenêtre, vit le roi David danser et toucher de la harpe devant le Seigneur, et en son cœur elle le méprisa.
17 And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt-offerings before the Lord and peace-offerings.
On transporta l'arche du Seigneur, et on la déposa à sa place, au milieu du tabernacle que David avait dressé pour elle. Et David sacrifia devant le Seigneur des holocaustes et des hosties pacifiques.
18 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.
David acheva les sacrifices, et il bénit le peuple au nom du Seigneur Dieu des armées.
19 And he dealt out to all the people, to the whole multitude of Israel, to both men and women, to every person one cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine: and all the people departed every one to his house.
Ensuite, il distribua à tout le peuple, et à toute l'armée d'Israël, depuis Dan jusqu'à Bersabée, aux femmes aussi bien qu'aux hommes, un gâteau de froment par tête, une pâte cuite à la poêle, et une tranche de bœuf cuite sur la braise. Après cela, le peuple s'en alla chacun en sa demeure.
20 And David then returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and she said, How honored was today the king of Israel, who uncovered himself today before the eyes of the hand-maids of his servants, as only one of the low fellows can uncover himself!
Et David s'en retourna pour bénir sa maison; or, Michol, fille de Saül, sortit à sa rencontre, et elle le salua, et elle lui dit: Quelle gloire a donc trouvée aujourd'hui le roi d'Israël à se dévêtir, aux yeux des servantes et de ses serviteurs, comme on se dévêt en dansant.
21 And David said unto Michal, Before the Lord, who chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to ordain me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: —yea, before the Lord will I yet farther play.
Et David dit à Michol: Je danserai devant le Seigneur; béni soit le Seigneur qui m'a élu, et qui m'a préféré à ton père et à toute ta famille pour me faire roi de tout son peuple d'Israël.
22 And should I be yet more vile than thus, and should I be base in my own eyes: yet among the maid-servants of whom thou hast spoken, yea, among them would I still be honored.
Je jouerai de la harpe, je danserai devant le Seigneur, je me dévêtirai encore de la même manière, je serai un insensé à tes yeux et aux yeux de tes servantes, qui aujourd'hui, dis-tu, ne m'ont point honoré.
23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child until the day of her death.
Et la fille de Saül, Michol, n'eut point d'enfants jusqu'au jour de sa mort.
