< 2 Samuel 5 >

1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold us, thy bone and thy flesh are we;
Gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli sì tọ Dafidi wá ní Hebroni, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ẹran-ara rẹ àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ ni àwa ń í ṣe.
2 Already yesterday, and even before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast the one that led out and brought in Israel: And the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a chief over Israel.
Àti nígbà àtijọ́, nígbà tí Saulu fi jẹ ọba lórí wa, ìwọ ni ẹni tí ó máa ń kó Israẹli jáde, ìwọ sì ni ó máa ń mú wọn bọ̀ wá ilé: Olúwa sì wí fún ọ pé, ‘Ìwọ yóò ṣe olùṣọ́ Israẹli àwọn ènìyàn mi, ìwọ yóò sì jẹ́ olórí fún Israẹli.’”
3 Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king unto Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David as king over Israel.
Gbogbo àgbàgbà Israẹli sì tọ ọba wá ní Hebroni, Dafidi ọba sì bá wọn ṣe àdéhùn kan ní Hebroni, níwájú Olúwa: wọ́n sì fi òróró yan Dafidi ní ọba Israẹli.
4 Thirty years was David old when he became king, [and] forty years he reigned.
Dafidi sì jẹ́ ẹni ọgbọ̀n ọdún nígbà tí ó jẹ ọba; ó sì jẹ ọba ní ogójì ọdún.
5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
Ó jẹ ọba ní Hebroni ní ọdún méje àti oṣù mẹ́fà lórí Juda, ó sì jẹ ọba ní Jerusalẹmu ní ọdún mẹ́tàlélọ́gbọ̀n lórí gbogbo Israẹli àti Juda.
6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; who said unto David, as followeth, Thou shalt not come in hither, except thou [first] remove away the blind and the lame: meaning, David cannot come in hither.
Àti ọba àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì lọ sí Jerusalẹmu sọ́dọ̀ àwọn ará Jebusi, àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà; àwọn tí ó sì ti wí fún Dafidi pé, “Bí kò ṣe pé ìwọ bá mú àwọn afọ́jú àti àwọn arọ kúrò, ìwọ kì yóò wọ ìhín wá.” Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Dafidi kì yóò lè wá síyìn-ín.”
7 Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
Ṣùgbọ́n Dafidi fi agbára gba ìlú odi Sioni: èyí náà ni í ṣe ìlú Dafidi.
8 And David said on that day, Whosoever will smite the Jebusites, and reach the aqueduct and the lame and the blind, that are hateful to David's soul, —Wherefore people usually say, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
Dafidi sọ lọ́jọ́ náà pé, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí yóò kọlu àwọn ará Jebusi, jẹ́ kí ó gba ojú àgbàrá, kí o sí kọlu àwọn arọ, àti àwọn afọ́jú tí ọkàn Dafidi kórìíra.” Nítorí náà ni wọ́n ṣe wí pé, “Afọ́jú àti arọ wà níbẹ̀, kì yóò lè wọlé.”
9 And David dwelt in the fort, and he called it “The City of David.” And David built [it] round about from the Millo and inward.
Dafidi sì jókòó ní ilé àwọn ọmọ-ogun tí ó ní odi, a sì ń pè é ní ìlú Dafidi. Dafidi mọ ògiri yí i ká láti Millo wá, ó sì kọ́ ilé nínú rẹ̀.
10 And David went on, and became greater and greater, and the Lord the God of hosts was with him.
Dafidi sì ń pọ̀ sí i, Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun sì wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
11 And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and stone-masons: and they built a house for David.
Hiramu ọba Tire sì rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ sí Dafidi, àti igi kedari, àti àwọn gbẹ́nàgbẹ́nà, àti àwọn tí ń gbẹ́ òkúta, wọ́n kọ́ ilé kan fún Dafidi.
12 And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
Dafidi sì kíyèsi i pé, Olúwa ti fi ìdí òun múlẹ̀ láti jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli, àti pé, ó gbé ìjọba rẹ̀ ga nítorí Israẹli àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀.
13 And David took yet more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were born to David yet [more] sons and daughters.
Dafidi sì tún mú àwọn àlè àti aya sí i láti Jerusalẹmu wá, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó ti Hebroni bọ̀, wọ́n sì bí ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin fún Dafidi.

16 And Elishama', and Elyada', and Eliphelet.

17 But when the Philistines heard that the people had anointed David as king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went down to the strong-hold.
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí àwọn Filistini gbọ́ pé, wọ́n ti fi Dafidi jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli, gbogbo àwọn Filistini sì gòkè wá láti wá Dafidi; Dafidi sì gbọ́, ó sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí ìlú olódi.
18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 And David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
Dafidi sì béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa pé, “Kí èmi ó gòkè tọ àwọn Filistini bí? Ìwọ ó fi wọ́n lé mi lọ́wọ́ bí?” Olúwa sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Gòkè lọ, nítorí pé dájúdájú èmi ó fi àwọn Filistini lé ọ lọ́wọ́.”
20 And David came to Ba'al-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken down my enemies before me, as a breach [is made by] water. Wherefore he called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.
Dafidi sì dé Baali-Perasimu, Dafidi sì pa wọ́n níbẹ̀, ó sì wí pé, “Olúwa ti ya lu àwọn ọ̀tá mi níwájú mi, gẹ́gẹ́ bí omi ti ń ya.” Nítorí náà ni òun ṣe pe orúkọ ibẹ̀ náà ni Baali-Perasimu.
21 And they left behind there their idols, and David and his men burnt them.
Wọ́n sì fi òrìṣà wọn sílẹ̀ níbẹ̀, Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì kó wọn.
22 And the Philistines came up once again, and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

23 And when David asked counsel of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but turn about and fall in the rear of them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry-trees.
Dafidi sì béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa, òun sì wí pé, “Má ṣe gòkè lọ; ṣùgbọ́n bù wọ́n lẹ́yìn, kí o sì kọlù wọ́n níwájú àwọn igi Baka.
24 And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the top of the mulberry-trees, that thou shalt then bestir thyself; for then will the Lord go out before thee, to smite in the camp of the Philistines.
Yóò sì ṣe, nígbà tí ìwọ bá gbọ́ ìró ẹsẹ̀ lórí àwọn igi Baka náà, nígbà náà ni ìwọ yóò sì yára, nítorí pé nígbà náà ni Olúwa yóò jáde lọ níwájú rẹ láti kọlù ogun àwọn Filistini.”
25 And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and he smote the Philistines from Geba' until thou comest to Gezer.
