2 Samuel 3
1 And the war lasted a long time between the house of Saul and the house of David; but David became continually stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul became continually weaker and weaker.
ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും തമ്മിൽ ദീൎഘകാലം യുദ്ധം നടന്നു; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്നു ബലം കൂടിക്കൂടിയും ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ക്ഷയിച്ചു ക്ഷയിച്ചും വന്നു.
2 And there were born unto David sons in Hebron: and his first-born was Amnon, of Achino'am the Yizre'elitess;
ദാവീദിന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ചു പുത്രന്മാർ ജനിച്ചു; യിസ്രെയേല്ക്കാരത്തിയായ അഹീനോവം പ്രസവിച്ച അമ്നോൻ അവന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻ.
3 And his second was Kilab, of Abigayil the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Abshalom, the son of Ma'achah the daughter of Talmai the king of Geshur;
കൎമ്മേല്യൻനാബാലിന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യയായിരുന്ന അബീഗയിൽ പ്രസവിച്ച കിലെയാബ് രണ്ടാമത്തവൻ; ഗെശൂർരാജാവായ തൽമയിയുടെ മകൾ മയഖയുടെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോം മൂന്നാമത്തവൻ;
4 And the fourth, Adoniyah, the son of Chaggith; and the fifth, Shephatyah, the son of Abital;
ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനീയാവു നാലാമത്തവൻ; അബീതാലിന്റെ മകനായ ശെഫത്യാവു അഞ്ചാമത്തവൻ;
5 And the sixth, Yithre'am, by 'Eglah, David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യയായ എഗ്ലാ പ്രസവിച്ച യിത്രെയാം ആറാമത്തവൻ. ഇവരാകുന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ചു ദാവീദിന്നു ജനിച്ചവർ.
6 And it came to pass, while the war lasted between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner upheld with all his strength the house of Saul.
ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും തമ്മിൽ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കാലത്തു അബ്നേർ ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ തന്നെത്താൻ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു.
7 And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Ayah: and Ish-bosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?
എന്നാൽ ശൌലിന്നു അയ്യാവിന്റെ മകളായി രിസ്പാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു വെപ്പാട്ടി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് അബ്നേരിനോടു: നീ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
8 And Abner became very wroth because of the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I the chief of the dogs which belong to Judah? unto this day have I shown kindness unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David; and yet thou chargest me today with a wrong committed with this woman?
അബ്നേർ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഞാൻ യെഹൂദാ പക്ഷത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു നായ്ത്തലയോ? ഇന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തോടും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും സ്നേഹിതന്മാരോടും ദയ കാണിക്കയും നിന്നെ ദാവീദിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കെ ഇന്നു ഈ സ്ത്രീ നിമിത്തം നീ എന്നെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നുവോ?
9 May God do so to Abner, and continue to do yet more to him, that, as the Lord hath sworn to David, even so will I surely do to him;
ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്നു രാജത്വം മാറ്റുകയും ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബവരെ യിസ്രായേലിലും യെഹൂദയിലും സ്ഥാപിക്കയും ചെയ്‌വാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം
10 To transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to establish the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-sheba'.
യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാൻ അവന്നു സാധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ ദൈവം അബ്നേരിനോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.
11 And he could not answer Abner a word more in reply, because of his fear of him.
അവൻ അബ്നേരിനെ ഭയപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു പിന്നെ ഒരു വാക്കും പറവാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
12 And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying [also, ] Make thy covenant with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring round unto thee all Israel.
അനന്തരം അബ്നേർ ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: ദേശം ആൎക്കുള്ളതു? എന്നോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്ക; എന്നാൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും നിന്റെ പക്ഷത്തിൽ വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ സഹായം നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
13 And he said, Well: I will indeed make a covenant with thee; but one thing I require of thee, namely, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
അതിന്നു അവൻ: നല്ലതു; ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യാം; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു കാൎയ്യം നിന്നോടു ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നു: നീ എന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ വരുമ്പോൾ ആദ്യം തന്നേ ശൌലിന്റെ മകളായ മീഖളിനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരാതിരുന്നാൽ നീ എന്റെ മുഖം കാൺകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul, saying, Give up to me my wife Michal, whom I espoused to me for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
ദാവീദ് ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: ഞാൻ വിവാഹനിശ്ചയത്തിന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നൂറു അഗ്രചൎമ്മം കൊടുത്തു വാങ്ങിയ എന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യയായ മീഖളിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരിക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
15 And Ish-bosheth sent, and took her from the man, from Paltiel the son of Layish.
ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് അവളെ ലയീശിന്റെ മകനായി അവളുടെ ഭൎത്താവായ ഫല്തിയേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു വരുത്തി.
16 And her husband went with her going along and weeping behind her as far as Bachurim: when Abner said unto him, Go, return. And he returned.
അവളുടെ ഭൎത്താവു കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു ബഹൂരീംവരെ അവളുടെ പിന്നാലെ വന്നു. അബ്നേർ അവനോടു: നീ മടങ്ങിപ്പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 And Abner had used these words with the elders of Israel, saying, Already yesterday and even before ye have been desiring David as king over you:
അവൻ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി. എന്നാൽ അബ്നേർ യിസ്രായേൽമൂപ്പന്മാരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു: ദാവീദിനെ രാജാവായി കിട്ടുവാൻ കുറെ കാലമായല്ലോ നിങ്ങൾ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു.
18 And now do it; for the Lord hath said of David thus, By the hand of my servant David will I save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
ഇപ്പോൾ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്‌വിൻ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ കൈകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ മുതലായ സകലശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുമെന്നു യഹോവ ദാവീദിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലൊ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 And Abner also spoke in the ears of Benjamin; and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of the whole house of Benjamin.
അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അബ്നേർ ബെന്യാമീന്യരോടും പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അബ്നേർ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും സമ്മതമായതെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനോടു അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽ പോയി.
20 And Abner came to David to Hebron, and with him were twenty men; and David made for Abner and for the men that were with him a feast.
ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്നേരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു. ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിന്നും കൂടെയുള്ളവൎക്കും വേണ്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.
21 And Abner said unto David, I will now arise and go, and I will assemble unto my Lord the king all Israel, that they may make a covenant with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thy soul longeth for. And David dismissed Abner: and he went in peace.
അബ്നേർ ദാവീദിനോടു: ഞാൻ ചെന്നു യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തും; അപ്പോൾ നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ എല്ലാവൎക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിനെ യാത്ര അയച്ചു; അവൻ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോയി.
22 And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from a predatory excursion, and brought in much booty with them; but Abner was no more with David in Hebron; for he had dismissed him, and he was gone in peace.
അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകരും യോവാബും ഒരു കവൎച്ചപ്പട കഴിഞ്ഞു വളരെ കൊള്ളയുമായി മടങ്ങിവന്നു; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിനെ യാത്രയയക്കയും അവൻ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവൻ അന്നേരം ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
23 When Joab and all the army that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath dismissed him, and he is gone in peace.
യോവാബും കൂടെയുള്ള സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും വന്നപ്പോൾ: നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേർ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, അവൻ അവനെ യാത്രയയച്ചു, അവൻ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോയി എന്നിങ്ങനെ യോവാബിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.
24 Then came Joab to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee: why is it that thou hast dismissed him, that he went freely away?
യോവാബ് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: എന്താകുന്നു ഈ ചെയ്തതു? അബ്നേർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരുന്നല്ലോ; അവനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതെന്തു?
25 Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that to deceive thee did he come, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou art doing.
അവൻ പോയല്ലോ? നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേരിനെ നീ അറികയില്ലേ? നിന്നെ ചതിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പോക്കും വരവും ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും നീ ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും അറിവാനുമല്ലോ അവൻ വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26 And Joab went out from David, and he sent messengers after Abner, who brought him back from the well of Sirah; but David knew it not.
യോവാബ് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു പുറത്തിറങ്ങി അബ്നേരിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ സീരാകിണറ്റിങ്കൽനിന്നു മടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ദാവീദ് അതു അറിഞ്ഞില്ലതാനും.
27 And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him in private; and he smote him there under the fifth rib, and he died, for the blood of 'Asahel his brother.
അബ്നേർ ഹെബ്രോനിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി വന്നപ്പോൾ യോവാബ് സ്വകാൎയ്യം പറവാൻ അവനെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽ ഒരു ഭാഗത്തേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അസാഹേലിന്റെ രക്തപ്രതികാരത്തിന്നായി അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനെ വയറ്റത്തു കുത്തികൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.
28 And when David heard it afterward, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the Lord for ever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
ദാവീദ് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേരിന്റെ രക്തം സംബന്ധിച്ചു എനിക്കും എന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിന്നും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരിക്കലും കുറ്റം ഇല്ല.
29 May it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and may there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a crutch, or that falleth by the sword, or that lacketh bread.
അതു യോവാബിന്റെ തലമേലും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലൊക്കെയും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; യോവാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ സ്രവക്കാരനോ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയോ വടി കുത്തി നടക്കുന്നവനോ വാളിനാൽ വീഴുന്നവനോ ആഹാരത്തിന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളവനോ വിട്ടൊഴിയാതിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30 But Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had killed their brother 'Asahel at Gib'on in the battle.
അബ്നേർ ഗിബെയോനിലെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ അനുജനായ അസാഹേലിനെ കൊന്നതു നിമിത്തം യോവാബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയും ഇങ്ങനെ അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.
31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird yourselves with sackcloth, and [go] mourning before Abner. And king David walked behind the bier.
ദാവീദ് യോവാബിനോടും അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള സകലജനത്തോടും: നിങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം കീറി ചാക്കുശീല ഉടുത്തു അബ്നേരിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നടന്നു വിലപിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദാവീദ്‌രാജാവു ശവമഞ്ചത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടന്നു.
32 And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
അവർ അബ്നേരിനെ ഹെബ്രോനിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ രാജാവു അബ്നേരിന്റെ ശവക്കുഴിക്കൽ ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു; സകലജനവും കരഞ്ഞു.
33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said, O, that Abner had to die, as the worthless dieth!
രാജാവു അബ്നേരിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലാപഗീതം ചൊല്ലിയതെന്തെന്നാൽ: അബ്നേർ ഒരു നീചനെപ്പോലെയോ മരിക്കേണ്ടതു?
34 Thy hands were not bound, and thy feet were not put into fetters: as one falleth before men of wickedness art thou fallen. And all the people wept again over him.
നിന്റെ കൈ ബന്ധിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; നിന്റെ കാലിന്നു ചങ്ങല ഇട്ടിരുന്നില്ല; നീതികെട്ടവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ പട്ടുപോകുമ്പോലെ നീ പട്ടുപോയല്ലോ. സകലജനവും അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
35 And all the people came to cause David to eat food while it was yet day; but David swore, saying, So do God to me, and thus may he continue, if before the sun be down I taste bread, or the least else.
നേരം വൈകുംമുമ്പേ ജനമെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വന്നപ്പോൾ: സൂൎയ്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഞാൻ അപ്പം എങ്കിലും മറ്റു യാതൊന്നെങ്കിലും ആസ്വദിച്ചാൽ ദൈവം എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു ദാവീദ് സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.
36 And all the people took notice of it, and it was pleasing in their eyes: as whatsoever the king did was pleasing in the eyes of all the people.
ഇതു ജനമെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ: രാജാവു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സൎവ്വജനത്തിന്നും ബോധിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ ഇതും അവൎക്കു ബോധിച്ചു.
37 And all the people and all Israel understood on that day that it had not been of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
നേരിന്റെ പുത്രനായ അബ്നേരിനെ കൊന്നതു രാജാവിന്റെ അറിവോടെയല്ല എന്നു സകലജനത്തിന്നും യിസ്രായേലിന്നൊക്കെയും അന്നു ബോധ്യമായി.
38 And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that a prince and a great man hath fallen this day in Israel?
രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു പ്രഭുവും മഹാനുമായവൻ പട്ടുപോയി എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?
39 And I am this day yet weak, and just anointed king; and these men, the sons of Zeruyah, are too strong for me: may the Lord pay the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
ഞാൻ രാജാഭിഷേകം പ്രാപിച്ചവൻ എങ്കിലും ഇന്നു ബലഹീനനാകുന്നു; സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരായ ഈ പുരുഷന്മാർ എനിക്കു ഒതുങ്ങാത്ത കഠിനന്മാരത്രേ; ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചവന്നു അവന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം യഹോവ പകരം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
