2 Samuel 2
1 And it came to pass after this, that David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And the Lord said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
Sau điều đó, Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va như vầy: Tôi có nên đi lên trong một thành nào của xứ Giu-đa chăng? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp cùng người rằng: Hãy đi lên. Đa-vít tiếp: Tôi phải lên trong thành nào? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp: Hếp-rôn.
2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Achino'am the Yizre'elitess, and Abigayil, Nabal's wife, the Carmelite.
Đa-vít đi đến đó, đem theo hai người vợ, là A-hi-nô-am ở Gít-rê-ên, và A-bi-ga-in, nguyên là vợ của Na-banh ở Cạt-mên.
3 And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household; and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
Đa-vít cũng đem các người ở cùng mình đi lên, mỗi người với gia quyến mình, mà ở trong các thành của địa phận Hếp-rôn.
4 And then came the men of Judah, and they anointed there David as king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, The men of Yabesh-gil'ad were those that buried Saul.
Những người Giu-đa đi đến đó, và xức dầu cho Đa-vít làm vua nhà Giu-đa. Người ta đến nói cho Đa-vít rằng: Dân ở Gia-be đã chôn Sau-lơ.
5 And David thereupon sent messengers unto the men of Yabesh-gil'ad, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have done this kindness unto your Lord, unto Saul, and have buried him.
Đa-vít bèn sai sứ đến cùng dân sự Gia-be trong Ga-la-át, mà nói rằng: Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho các ngươi, vì các ngươi đã có lòng nhơn từ đối cùng Sau-lơ, chúa các ngươi, mà chôn người!
6 And now may the Lord deal with you in kindness and truth: and as for me also, I will requite you this good deed, because ye have done this thing.
Nguyện Đức Giê-hô-va lấy nhơn từ và thành thực mà đối lại cùng các ngươi! Còn ta, cũng sẽ làm điều thiện cho các ngươi, bởi vì các ngươi đã làm như vậy.
7 And now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant men; for your lord Saul is dead; and also me have the house of Judah anointed as king over them.
Nguyện cho tay các ngươi được mạnh, khá tỏ mình ra người hào kiệt; vì Sau-lơ, chúa các ngươi đã thác, và nhà Giu-đa đã xức dầu cho ta làm vua của họ.
8 But Abner, the son of Ner, the captain of the army of Saul, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Machanayim;
Bấy giờ Aùp-ne, quan tổng binh của Sau-lơ, bắt ỗch-bô-sết, con trai của Sau-lơ mà đưa qua Ma-ha-na-im,
9 And made him king over Gil'ad, and over the Ashurites, and over Yizre'el, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
lập người làm vua Ga-la-át, A-su-rít, Gít-rê-ên, Eùp-ra-im, Bên-gia-min, và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên.
10 Forty years old was Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, when he became king over Israel, and two years he reigned. But the house of Judah followed David.
Khi ỗch-bô-sết, con trai của Sau-lơ, khởi cai trị Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì đã được bốn mươi tuổi, và người cai trị hai năm. Chỉ có nhà Giu-đa theo Đa-vít mà thôi.
11 And the number of days that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
Thì giờ Đa-vít ở Hếp-rôn, cai trị trên nhà Giu-đa, là bảy năm sáu tháng.
12 And there went out Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, from Machanayim to Gib'on.
Vả, Aùp-ne, con trai của Nê-rơ và các tôi tớ của ỗch-bô-sết, con trai của Sau-lơ, ở Ma-ha-na-im kéo ra đặng đi đến Ga-ba-ôn.
13 And Joab the son of Zeruyah and the servants of David also went out, and they met together by the pool of Gib'on: and they sat down, these on the one side of the pool, and the others on the other side of the pool.
Giô-áp, con trai của Xê-ru-gia, và các tôi tớ của Đa-vít, cũng kép ra; hai bên gặp nhau tại lối hồ Ga-ba-ôn, rồi bọn nầy ngồi ở bên nầy hồ, và bọn khác ngồi ở bên kia.
14 And Abner said to Joab, Do let the young men rise up and play before us. And Joab said, They may rise up.
Bấy giờ, Aùp-ne nói cùng Giô-áp rằng: Những kẻ trai trẻ nầy hãy chỗi dậy và trững giỡn tại trước mặt chúng ta. Giô-áp nói: Chúng nó khá chổi dậy.
15 Then they rose up and went over by number: twelve for Benjamin, and for Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
Vậy, chúng nó chổi dậy, đi tới số bằng nhau, mười hai người Bên-gia-min vì ỗch-bô-sết, con trai Sau-lơ, và mười hai người trong các tôi tớ của Đa-vít.
16 And they grasped every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; and they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Chelkath-hazzurim, which is by Gib'on.
Mỗi người bèn nắm đầu kẻ cừu địch mình, đâm gươm vào hông, và thảy đều ngã chết cùng nhau; chỗ đó bèn gọi là đồng Gươm, ở trong Ga-ba-ôn.
17 And the battle was exceedingly fierce on that day; and Abner with the men of Israel was beaten, before the servants of David.
Trong ngày đó có một chiến đấu rất dữ, Aùp-ne và những người Y-sơ-ra-ên đều bị các tôi tớ của Đa-vít đánh bại.
18 And there were at that place three sons of Zeruyah, Joab, and Abishai, and 'Asahel: and 'Asahel was as fleet of foot as any roe in the field.
ỳ đó, có ba con trai của Xê-ru-gia, là Giô-áp, A-bi-sai, và A-sa-ên. Vả, A-sa-ên chạy lẹ làng như một con hoàng dương rừng.
19 And 'Asahel pursued after Abner; and he turned not in going to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.
Người đuổi theo Aùp-ne, không xây qua khỏi người, hoặc về bên hữu hay là bề bên tả.
20 And Abner turned round and said, Art thou 'Asahel? And he answered, I am.
Vậy, Aùp-ne ngó lại sau, và hỏi rằng: Có phải ngươi là A-sa-ên chăng? Người đáp: Phải, ấy là ta.
21 And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold for thyself on one of the young men, and take thyself his armor. But 'Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
Aùp-ne nói cùng người rằng: Hãy đi qua phía hữu hay là phía tả, xông vào một người trong bọn trai trẻ, và lấy khí giới nó đi. Nhưng A-sa-ên không muốn xây khỏi người.
22 And Abner repeated again to say unto 'Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? and how should I then lift up my face to Joab thy brother?
Aùp-ne lại nói cùng A-sa-ên rằng: Hãy xây khỏi ta, cớ sao buộc ta phải đánh giết ngươi nằm sải xuống đất? Ví bằng giết ngươi, ta dễ nào còn dám ngó mặt Giô-áp là anh ngươi?
23 But he refused to turn aside; and Abner smote him with the hinder end of the spear under the fifth rib, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died on the spot: and it came to pass, that all who came to the place where 'Asahel had fallen down and died remained standing still.
Bởi người không khứng lánh đi, Aùp-ne bèn lấy cán giáo mình đâm người nơi bụng, thấu đến sau lưng. A-sa-ên té xuống và chết tại chỗ; hết thảy người nào đến chỗ A-sa-ên ngã xuống chết, đều dừng lại tại đó.
24 But Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giach on the way to the wilderness of Gib'on.
Giô-áp và A-bi-sai đuổi theo Aùp-ne; khi hai người đến gò A-ma đối ngang Ghi-a, về hướng đồng vắng Ga-ba-ôn, thì mặt trời đã lặn.
25 And the children of Benjamin assembled themselves together behind Abner, and formed one solid body, and posted themselves on the top of a certain hill.
Dân Bên-gia-min hiệp lại cùng Aùp-ne, làm thành một đạo, và dừng lại trên chót một gò nỗng.
26 And Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall for everlasting the sword devour? knowest thou not that it will be bitter in the end? and how long shall it be, ere thou wilt bid the people to return from pursuing their brethren?
Aùp-ne bèn la lớn cùng Giô-áp rằng: Vậy, lưỡi gươm chưa thôi hủy diệt sao? Ngươi há chẳng biết cuối cùng sẽ là khổ sao? Ngươi không truyền lịnh cho dân sự thôi đuổi theo anh em mình cho đến chừng nào?
27 And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then already in the morning would the people have gone away every one from pursuing his brother.
Giô-áp đáp rằng: Ta chỉ Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống mà thề rằng, nếu ông chẳng có nói chi, thì dân sự không thôi đuổi theo anh em mình trước khi sáng mai.
28 So Joab blew the cornet, and all the people remained standing still, and pursued no more after Israel, and they continued no more to fight.
Giô-áp truyền thổi kèn, hết thảy dân sự đều dừng lại, thôi đuổi theo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, và không chiến đấu nữa.
29 And Abner and his men walked through the plain all that night, and they passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Machanayim.
Aùp-ne và các kẻ theo người trọn đêm đó đi ngang qua đồng bằng, sang sông Giô-đanh, trải khắp Bít-rôn, rồi đến Ma-ha-na-im.
30 And Joab returned from pursuing Abner; and he gathered all the people together; and there were missed of David's servants nineteen men and 'Asahel.
Giô-áp cũng thôi đuổi theo Aùp-ne trở về, hiệp hết thảy dân sự: trong các đầy tớ của Đa-vít thì thiếu mười chín người và A-sa-ên.
31 But the servants of David had smitten [many] of Benjamin, and of Abner's men: three hundred and sixty men died.
Các tôi tớ của Đa-vít có đánh chết ba trăm sáu mươi người trong dân Bên-gia-min và thủ hạ của Aùp-ne.
32 And they took up 'Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Beth-lechem. And Joab and his men went all that night, and the day broke on them at Hebron.
Chúng đem A-sa-ên, chôn trong mộ của cha người tại Bết-lê-hem. Đoạn, Giô-áp và các thủ hạ người đi trọn đêm, rạng đông đến Hếp-rôn.
