2 Kings 6
1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha', Behold now, the place where we dwell before thee is too narrow for us.
௧தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கூட்டத்தார் எலிசாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாங்கள் உம்முடன் குடியிருக்கிற இந்த இடம் எங்களுக்கு நெருக்கமாக இருக்கிறது.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, as far as the Jordan, and take thence every man one beam, and let us prepare for us there a place to dwell therein. And he said, Go.
௨நாங்கள் யோர்தான்வரை சென்று அவ்விடத்தில் ஒவ்வொருவர் ஒவ்வொரு மரத்தை வெட்டி, குடியிருக்க அங்கே எங்களுக்கு ஒரு இடத்தை உண்டாக்குவோம் என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: போங்கள் என்றான்.
3 And one said, Give thy assent, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he said, I will indeed go.
௩அவர்களில் ஒருவன்: நீர் தயவுசெய்து உமது அடியார்களாகிய எங்களுடன் வரவேண்டும் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வருகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,
4 So he went with them; and they came to the Jordan, and they cut down trees.
௪அவர்களோடேகூடப் போனான்; அவர்கள் யோர்தான் நதியருகில் வந்தபோது மரங்களை வெட்டினார்கள்.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe-head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, my Lord! it was also borrowed.
௫ஒருவன் ஒரு மரத்தை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தும்போது கோடரி தண்ணீரில் விழுந்தது; அவன்: ஐயோ என் ஆண்டவனே, அது இரவலாக வாங்கப்பட்டதே என்று சத்தமிட்டான்.
6 And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither, and he caused the iron to swim.
௬தேவனுடைய மனிதன் அது எங்கே விழுந்தது என்று கேட்டான்; அவன் அந்த இடத்தைக் காண்பித்தபோது, ஒரு கிளையை வெட்டி, அதை அங்கே எறிந்து, அந்த இரும்பை மிதக்கச் செய்து,
7 And then said he, Lift it up to thee. And he stretched out his hand, and took it.
௭அதை எடுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அதை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்.
8 And the king of Syria made war against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
௮அக்காலத்தில் சீரியாவின் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமாக போர்செய்து, இந்த இந்த இடத்திலே பாளயமிறங்குவேன் என்று தன் வேலைக்காரர்களோடு ஆலோசனைசெய்தான்.
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not that place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
௯ஆகிலும் தேவனுடைய மனிதன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: இன்ன இடத்திற்குப் போகாதபடி எச்சரிக்கையாயிரும்; சீரியர்கள் அங்கே வருவார்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place, which the man of God had told him and warned him of, and he took care of himself there: not once nor twice.
௧0அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தேவனுடைய மனிதன் தன்னை எச்சரித்து, தனக்குக் குறித்துச்சொன்ன இடத்திற்கு மனிதர்களை அனுப்பிப்பார்த்து எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து, இப்படி அநேக முறை தன்னைக் காத்துக்கொண்டான்.
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sorely troubled concerning this thing; and he called for his servants, and said unto them, Can ye not tell me who of us is for the king of Israel?
௧௧இந்தக் காரியத்தால் சீரிய ராஜாவின் இருதயம் குழம்பி, அவன் தன் இராணுவ அதிகாரிகளை அழைத்து: நம்முடையவர்களில் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிற்கு உளவாளியாக இருக்கிறவன் யார் என்று நீங்கள் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கமாட்டீர்களா என்று கேட்டான்.
12 And one of his servants said, Not so, my Lord, O king; but Elisha', the prophet that is in Israel, can tell unto the king of Israel the words that thou mayest speak in thy sleeping-chamber.
௧௨அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய அதிகாரிகளில் ஒருவன்: அப்படியில்லை; என் எஜமானாகிய ராஜாவே, நீர் உம்முடைய படுக்கையறையிலே பேசுகிற வார்த்தைகளையும் இஸ்ரவேலிலிருக்கிற தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய எலிசா இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிற்கு அறிவிப்பான் என்றான்.
13 And he said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told unto him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
௧௩அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் மனிதர்களை அனுப்பி அவனைப் பிடிக்கும்படி, நீங்கள் போய் அவன் எங்கே இருக்கிறான் என்று பாருங்கள் என்றான்; அவன் தோத்தானில் இருக்கிறான் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
14 And he sent thither horses, and chariots, and a strong army: and they came by night, and surrounded the city.
௧௪அப்பொழுது அவன் அங்கே குதிரைகளையும் இரதங்களையும் பலத்த இராணுவத்தையும் அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் இரவிலே வந்து பட்டணத்தை சூழ்ந்துகொண்டார்கள்.
15 And the servant of the man of God rose early, and went forth, when, behold, an army compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
௧௫தேவனுடைய மனிதனின் வேலைக்காரன் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து வெளியே புறப்படும்போது, இதோ, இராணுவமும் குதிரைகளும் இரதங்களும் பட்டணத்தைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கக் கண்டான்; அப்பொழுது வேலைக்காரன் அவனை நோக்கி: ஐயோ, என் ஆண்டவனே, என்னசெய்வோம் என்றான்.
16 And he said, Fear not: for those that are with us are more than those that are with them.
௧௬அதற்கு அவன்: பயப்படாதே; அவர்களோடு இருக்கிறவர்களைவிட நம்மோடு இருக்கிறவர்கள் அதிகம் என்றான்.
17 And Elisha' prayed, and said, O Lord, open, I pray thee, his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man: and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha'.
௧௭அப்பொழுது எலிசா விண்ணப்பம்செய்து: யெகோவாவே, இவன் பார்க்கும்படி இவனுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தருளும் என்றான்; உடனே யெகோவா அந்த வேலைக்காரனுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தார்; இதோ, எலிசாவைச்சுற்றிலும் அக்கினிமயமான குதிரைகளாலும் இரதங்களாலும் அந்த மலை நிறைந்திருக்கிறதை அவன் கண்டான்.
18 And when they came down to him, Elisha' prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite, I pray thee, this people with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha'.
௧௮அவர்கள் அவனிடத்தில் வரும்போது, எலிசா யெகோவாவை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்செய்து: இந்த மக்களுக்குக் கண்மயக்கம் உண்டாகும்படிச் செய்யும் என்றான்; எலிசாவுடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவர்களுக்குக் கண்மயக்கம் உண்டாகச் செய்தார்.
19 And Elisha' said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will lead you to the man whom ye wish to seek. And he led them thus to Samaria.
௧௯அப்பொழுது எலிசா அவர்களை நோக்கி: இது வழி அல்ல; இது பட்டணமும் அல்ல; என் பின்னே வாருங்கள்; நீங்கள் தேடுகிற மனிதனிடத்திற்கு நான் உங்களை வழிநடத்துவேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களைச் சமாரியாவுக்கு அழைத்துக் கொண்டுபோனான்.
20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha' said, Lord, open the eyes of these, that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw, and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
௨0அவர்கள் சமாரியாவிற்கு வந்தபோது, எலிசா: யெகோவாவே, இவர்கள் பார்க்கும்படி இவர்களுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்தருளும் என்றான்; பார்க்கும்படிக் யெகோவா அவர்களுடைய கண்களைத் திறக்கும்போது, இதோ, இவர்கள் சமாரியாவின் நடுவே இருந்தார்கள்.
21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha', when he saw them, Shall I smite them? Shall I smite them, my father?
௨௧இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அவர்களைக் கண்டபோது, எலிசாவைப் பார்த்து: என் தகப்பனே, நான் அவர்களை வெட்டிப்போடலாமா என்று கேட்டான்.
22 But he said, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldst thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go [back] to their master.
௨௨அதற்கு அவன்: நீர் வெட்டவேண்டாம்; நீர் உம்முடைய பட்டயத்தாலும், உம்முடைய வில்லினாலும் சிறைபிடித்தவர்களை வெட்டுகிறீரோ? இவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, தங்கள் எஜமானிடத்திற்குப் போகும்படி, அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வையும் என்றான்.
23 And he prepared for them a great meal; and they ate and drank, and he sent them away, and they went [back] to their master. And the predatory bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
௨௩அப்பொழுது அவர்களுக்குப் பெரிய விருந்துசெய்து, அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்தபின்பு, அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய ஆண்டவனிடத்திற்குப் போய்விட்டார்கள்; சீரியர்களின் படைகள் இஸ்ரவேல் தேசத்திலே அதற்குப் பிறகு வரவில்லை.
24 And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad the king of Syria assembled all his camp, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
௨௪இதற்குப்பின்பு சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத் தன் இராணுவத்தையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து சமாரியாவை முற்றுகையிட்டான்.
25 And there was a great famine in Samaria; and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.
௨௫அதனால் சமாரியாவிலே கொடிய பஞ்சம் ஏற்பட்டது; ஒரு கழுதையின் தலை எண்பது வெள்ளிக்காசுக்கும், புறாக்களுக்குப் போடுகிற காற்படி பயறு ஐந்து வெள்ளிக்காசுக்கும் விற்கப்படும்வரை அதை முற்றுகையிட்டார்கள்.
26 And it happened as the king of Israel was passing along upon the wall, that a woman cried unto him, saying, Help, my Lord, O king.
௨௬இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா மதிலின்மேல் நடந்துபோகும்போது, ஒரு பெண் அவனைப்பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, உதவி செய்யும் என்றாள்.
27 And he said, If the Lord do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? shall it be out of the threshing-floor, or out of the wine-press?
௨௭அதற்கு அவன்: யெகோவா உனக்கு உதவி செய்யாதிருந்தால் நான் எதிலிருந்து எடுத்து உனக்கு உதவி செய்ய முடியும்? களஞ்சியத்திலிருந்தா, ஆலையிலிருந்தா என்று சொல்லி,
28 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she said, This woman said unto me, Give up thy son, that we may eat him today, and my son we will eat tomorrow.
௨௮ராஜா மேலும் அவளைப் பார்த்து: உனக்கு என்னவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவள்: இந்தப் பெண் என்னை நோக்கி: உன் மகனைத் தா, அவனை இன்று சாப்பிடுவோம்; நாளைக்கு என் மகனைச் சாப்பிடுவோம் என்றாள்.
29 So we boiled my son, and ate him; but when I said unto her on the next day, Give up thy son, that we may eat him: she hid her son.
௨௯அப்படியே என் மகனை வேகவைத்துச் சாப்பிட்டோம்; மறுநாளில் நான் இவளை நோக்கி: நாம் உன் மகனைச் சாப்பிட அவனைத் தா என்றேன்; அவள் தன் மகனை ஒளித்துவைத்துவிட்டாள் என்றாள்.
30 And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes, as he was passing along upon the wall: and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth beneath upon his flesh.
௩0அந்தப் பெண்ணின் வார்த்தைகளை ராஜா கேட்டவுடனே, மதிலின்மேல் நடந்துபோகிற அவன் தன் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டான்; அவன் உள்ளே சணல் ஆடையை அணிந்திருக்கிறதை மக்கள் கண்டார்கள்.
31 Then said he, May God do so unto me and continue so yet farther, if the head of Elisha' the son of Shaphat shall remain on him this day.
௩௧அவன்: சாப்பாத்தின் மகனாகிய எலிசாவின் தலை இன்றைக்கு அவன்மேல் இருந்தால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று சொன்னான்.
32 But Elisha' was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him; and he sent a man from before him; but before the messenger could yet come to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of the murderer hath sent to remove my head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him back with the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?
௩௨எலிசா தன் வீட்டில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்; மூப்பர்களும் அவனோடு உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது ராஜா: ஒரு மனிதனைத் தனக்கு முன்னே அனுப்பினான்; இந்த ஆள் எலிசாவினிடத்திற்கு வருவதற்குமுன்னே, அவன் அந்த மூப்பர்களை நோக்கி: என் தலையை வெட்ட, அந்தக் கொலைபாதகனுடைய மகன் ஆள் அனுப்பினான்; பார்த்தீர்களா? அந்த ஆள் வரும்போது, நீங்கள் அவனை உள்ளே வரவிடாமல் கதவைப் பூட்டிப்போடுங்கள்; அவனுக்குப் பின்னாக அவனுடைய எஜமானின் காலின் சத்தம் கேட்கிறது அல்லவா என்றான்.
33 And while he was yet speaking with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the Lord; what shall I hope for in the Lord any longer?
௩௩அவர்களோடே அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது, அந்த ஆள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: இதோ, இந்தப் பொல்லாப்பு யெகோவாவால் உண்டானது; நான் இனிக் யெகோவாவுக்காக ஏன் காத்திருக்கவேண்டும் என்று ராஜா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.
