2 Kings 3
1 And Jehoram the son of Achab became king over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, and he reigned twelve years.
Ο δε Ιωράμ υιός του Αχαάβ εβασίλευσεν επί τον Ισραήλ εν Σαμαρεία, το δέκατον όγδοον έτος του Ιωσαφάτ βασιλέως του Ιούδα· και εβασίλευσεν έτη δώδεκα.
2 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord; but not like his father, and like his mother; and he removed the statue of Ba'al which his father had made.
Και έπραξε πονηρά ενώπιον του Κυρίου, ουχί όμως καθώς ο πατήρ αυτού και η μήτηρ αυτού· διότι εσήκωσε το άγαλμα του Βάαλ, το οποίον είχε κάμει ο πατήρ αυτού.
3 Nevertheless unto the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who had induced Israel to sin, did he cleave: he departed not therefrom.
Πλην ήτο προσκεκολλημένος εις τας αμαρτίας του Ιεροβοάμ υιού του Ναβάτ, όστις έκαμε τον Ισραήλ να αμαρτήση· δεν απεμακρύνθη απ' αυτών.
4 And Mesha' the king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered as tribute unto the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
Μησά δε ο βασιλεύς του Μωάβ είχε ποίμνια, και έδιδεν εις τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ εκατόν χιλιάδας αρνίων και εκατόν χιλιάδας κριών με τα μαλλία αυτών.
5 And it came to pass, when Achab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
Αλλ' αφού απέθανεν ο Αχαάβ, απεστάτησεν ο βασιλεύς του Μωάβ κατά του βασιλέως του Ισραήλ.
6 And king Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and numbered all Israel.
Και εξήλθεν ο βασιλεύς Ιωράμ εκ της Σαμαρείας κατ' εκείνον τον καιρόν και απηρίθμησε πάντα τον Ισραήλ.
7 And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up, I as thyself, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
Και υπήγε και απέστειλε προς Ιωσαφάτ τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, λέγων, Ο βασιλεύς του Μωάβ απεστάτησε κατ' εμού· έρχεσαι μετ' εμού εναντίον του Μωάβ εις πόλεμον; Ο δε είπε, Θέλω αναβή· εγώ είμαι ως συ, ο λαός μου ως ο λαός σου, οι ίπποι μου ως οι ίπποι σου.
8 And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he said, The way through the wilderness of Edom.
Και είπε, Διά ποίας οδού θέλομεν αναβή; Ο δε απεκρίθη, Διά της οδού της ερήμου Εδώμ.
9 So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they took a circuitous route, a seven days' journey; and there was no water for the camp, and for the cattle that followed in their train.
Και υπήγεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα και ο βασιλεύς του Εδώμ· και περιήλθον οδόν επτά ημερών· και δεν ήτο ύδωρ διά το στρατόπεδον και διά τα κτήνη τα ακολουθούντα αυτούς.
10 And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord hath called these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!
Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ, Ω βεβαίως συνεκάλεσεν ο Κύριος τους τρεις τούτους βασιλείς, διά να παραδώση αυτούς εις την χείρα του Μωάβ.
11 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire of the Lord from him? And there answered one of the king of Israel's servants and said, Here is Elisha' the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.
Ο δε Ιωσαφάτ είπε, Δεν είναι εδώ προφήτης του Κυρίου, διά να ερωτήσωμεν τον Κύριον δι' αυτού; Και απεκρίθη εις εκ των δούλων του βασιλέως του Ισραήλ, και είπεν, Είναι εδώ Ελισσαιέ ο υιός του Σαφάτ, όστις επέχεεν ύδωρ εις τας χείρας του Ηλία.
12 And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the Lord is with him. And there went down to him the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom.
Και είπεν ο Ιωσαφάτ, Λόγος Κυρίου είναι μετ' αυτού. Και κατέβησαν προς αυτόν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και ο Ιωσαφάτ και ο βασιλεύς του Εδώμ.
13 And Elisha' said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? go to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Not so; for the Lord hath called these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
Και είπεν ο Ελισσαιέ προς τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, Τι είναι μεταξύ εμού και σου; ύπαγε προς τους προφήτας του πατρός σου και προς τους προφήτας της μητρός σου. Και είπε προς αυτόν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ, Μή· διότι ο Κύριος συνεκάλεσε τους τρεις τούτους βασιλείς, διά να παραδώση αυτούς εις την χείρα του Μωάβ.
14 And Elisha' said, As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whom I have stood, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.
Και είπεν ο Ελισσαιέ, Ζη ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, ενώπιον του οποίου παρίσταμαι, βεβαίως εάν δεν εσεβόμην το πρόσωπον του Ιωσαφάτ βασιλέως του Ιούδα, δεν ήθελον επιβλέψει προς σε, ουδέ ήθελον σε ιδεί,
15 But now bring me a musician. And it came to pass, when the musician played, that the inspiration of the Lord came upon him.
αλλά τώρα φέρετέ μοι ψαλτωδόν. Και ενώ έψαλλεν ο ψαλτωδός, ήλθεν επ' αυτόν η χειρ του Κυρίου.
16 And he said, Thus hath said the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches.
Και είπεν, ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Κάμε την κοιλάδα ταύτην λάκκους·
17 For thus hath said the Lord, Ye shall not perceive wind, nor shall ye see rain; yet this valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, yourselves, and your flocks, and your cattle.
διότι ούτω λέγει Κύριος, Δεν θέλετε ιδεί άνεμον και δεν θέλετε ιδεί βροχήν· και αύτη η κοιλάς θέλει πλησθή ύδατος, και θέλει πίει, σεις και τα ποίμνιά σας και τα κτήνη σας·
18 And this is yet too light a thing in the eyes of the Lord; and he will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
αλλά τούτο είναι μικρόν πράγμα εις τους οφθαλμούς του Κυρίου· εις την χείρα σας θέλει παραδώσει και τον Μωάβ·
19 And ye shall smite every fortified city, and every choice city, and every good tree shall ye fell, and all springs of water shall ye stop, and every good piece of land shall ye spoil with stones.
και θέλετε πατάξει πάσαν οχυράν πόλιν και πάσαν εκλεκτήν πόλιν, και θέλετε καταβάλει παν δένδρον καλόν, και εμφράξει πάσας τας πηγάς των υδάτων, και αχρειώσει με λίθους πάσαν αγαθήν μερίδα γης.
20 And it came to pass in the morning, at the time when the meat-offering is offered, that, behold, there came water by the way from Edom, and the country was filled with the water.
Και το πρωΐ, ενώ ετελείτο η προσφορά, ιδού, ήλθον ύδατα από της οδού Εδώμ, και επλήσθη η γη υδάτων.
21 And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they were called together from every one who was girded with a sword, and upward, and they posted themselves on the border.
Και ότε ήκουσαν πάντες οι Μωαβίται ότι ανέβησαν οι βασιλείς διά να πολεμήσωσιν αυτούς, συνηθροίσθησαν πάντες οι μάχαιραν περιζωννύμενοι και επάνω, και εστάθησαν επί των συνόρων.
22 And when they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, the Moabites saw the water at a distance as red as blood.
Και εξηγέρθησαν το πρωΐ, και καθώς ανέτειλεν ο ήλιος επί τα ύδατα, είδον οι Μωαβίται εκ του απέναντι τα ύδατα κόκκινα ως αίμα·
23 And they said, This is blood; the kings have certainly had a contest among themselves, and they have smitten one another: and now, up to the spoil, Moab.
και είπον, Τούτο είναι αίμα· βεβαίως οι βασιλείς επολέμησαν και εκτυπήθησαν μετ' αλλήλων· τώρα λοιπόν εις τα λάφυρα, Μωάβ.
24 But when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they smote the Moabites completely, even in their own country.
Και ότε ήλθον εις το στρατόπεδον του Ισραήλ, εσηκώθησαν οι Ισραηλίται και επάταξαν τους Μωαβίτας, ώστε έφυγον από προσώπου αυτών· και κτυπώντες τους Μωαβίτας εισήλθον εις την γην αυτών.
25 And the cities they pulled down, and into every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it up, and every spring of water they stopped, and every good tree they felled, until they left only its stones in Kir-chareseth, and this the slingers encompassed and smote it.
Και κατέστρεψαν τας πόλεις· και εις πάσαν αγαθήν μερίδα γης έρριψαν έκαστος την πέτραν αυτού, και εγέμισαν αυτήν· και πάσας τας πηγάς των υδάτων ενέφραξαν, και παν δένδρον καλόν κατέβαλον· ώστε εν Κιρ-αρασέθ έμειναν οι λίθοι αυτής, και κυκλώσαντες οι σφενδονισταί επάταξαν αυτήν.
26 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too strong for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew the sword, to break through unto the king of Edom; but they could not.
Και ότε βασιλεύς του Μωάβ είδεν ότι η μάχη υπερίσχυεν εναντίον αυτού, έλαβε μεθ' αυτού επτακοσίους άνδρας ξιφήρεις, διά να διακόψωσι το στράτευμα, μέχρι του βασιλέως Εδώμ· πλην δεν ηδυνήθησαν.
27 Then took he his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their land.
Τότε έλαβε τον πρωτότοκον αυτού υιόν, όστις έμελλε να βασιλεύση αντ' αυτού, και προσέφερεν αυτόν ολοκαύτωμα επί του τείχους· και έγεινεν αγανάκτησις μεγάλη εν τω Ισραήλ· και αναχωρήσαντες απ' αυτού, επέστρεψαν εις την γην αυτών.
