2 Kings 21
1 Twelve years old was Menasseh when he became king, and fifty and five years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Chephzi-bah.
Manassé avait douze ans en montant sur le trône, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s’appelait Hefci-Bah.
2 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, after the abominable acts of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the children of Israel.
Il fit le mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, imitant les abominations des peuples que l’Eternel avait dépossédés au profit des enfants d’Israël.
3 And he built up again the high-places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Ba'al, and made a grove, as Achab the king of Israel had done; and he bowed down to all the host of heaven, and served them.
Il rétablit de nouveau les hauts-lieux qu’Ezéchias, son père, avait détruits, érigea des autels à Baal, institua une Achêra à l’exemple d’Achab, roi d’Israël, se prosterna devant toute la milice céleste et l’adora.
4 And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
Il construisit des autels dans le temple du Seigneur, malgré cette parole de l’Eternel: "C’Est à Jérusalem que je ferai dominer mon nom."
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
Or, c’est en l’honneur de toute la milice céleste qu’il érigea des autels dans les deux parvis du temple.
6 And he caused his son to pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much that is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
Il fit passer son fils par le feu, s’adonna aux augures et aux sortilèges, et pratiqua les évocations et les divinations. Immense fut le mal qu’il fit aux yeux de l’Eternel pour l’irriter.
7 And he set a hewn image of the Asherah that he had made in the house, of which the Lord had said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
L’Idole d’Astarté qu’il avait fabriquée, il la plaça dans le temple, dont l’Eternel avait dit à David et à son fils Salomon: "C’Est dans ce temple, à Jérusalem, la ville élue entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, que je ferai à jamais résider mon nom.
8 And I will not cause any more the foot of Israel to move out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to act in accordance with all that I have commanded them, and in accordance with all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.
Je ne ferai plus errer les pas d’Israël loin du pays que j’ai donné à ses ancêtres, pourvu qu’il accomplisse scrupuleusement mes commandements, ainsi que toute la loi que mon serviteur Moïse lui a prescrite."
9 But they hearkened not: and Menasseh seduced them to do what is evil more than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
Mais ils désobéirent; Manassé les induisit à agir plus mal que les peuples exterminés par l’Eternel au profit des enfants d’Israël.
10 And the Lord spoke by means of his servants the prophets, saying,
C’Est pourquoi, l’Eternel parla ainsi par l’organe des prophètes, ses serviteurs:
11 Forasmuch as Menasseh the king of Judah hath done these abominations, having done wickedly more than all that the Emorites had done, who were before him, and hath induced Judah also to sin with his idols:
"Puisque Manassé, roi de Juda, s’est rendu coupable de ces abominations en faisant le mal plus que les Amorréens qui l’avaient précédé, et qu’il a entraîné même Juda au péché par ses idoles,
12 Therefore thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
moi, l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, je susciterai contre Jérusalem et contre Juda des calamités telles que les deux oreilles tinteront à qui les apprendra.
13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measure-line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Achab: and I will wipe off Jerusalem as one wipeth off a dish, wiping it, and turning it on its face.
Je passerai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie et le niveau de la maison d’Achab, et je nettoierai Jérusalem comme on nettoie un vase qu’on retourne après l’avoir nettoyé.
14 And I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance, and give them up into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;
J’Abandonnerai les débris de mon héritage, je les livrerai au pouvoir de leurs ennemis, qui tous les pilleront et les dépouilleront,
15 Forasmuch as they have done what is evil in my eyes, and have been provoking me to anger, from the day that their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even until this day.
en raison du mal qu’ils ont fait à mes yeux, de façon à m’irriter, depuis le jour où leurs ancêtres sont sortis de l’Egypte jusqu’au jour présent."
16 And also innocent blood did Menasseh shed in very great abundance, till he had filled [therewith] Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he induced Judah to sin, to do what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Manassé répandit aussi le sang innocent en si grande abondance que Jérusalem en était remplie d’une extrémité à l’autre, sans parler du crime d’avoir induit Juda à faire le mal aux yeux de l’Eternel.
17 Now the rest of the acts of Menasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he committed, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
Le reste de l’histoire de Manassé, les œuvres qu’il a accomplies et les péchés qu’il a commis, tout cela est consigné dans les arme es des rois de Juda.
18 And Menasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of 'Uzza: and Amon his son became king in his stead.
Manassé s’endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli dans le jardin de son palais, dans le jardin d’Ouzza. Son fils Amon lui succéda.
19 Twenty and two years old was Amon when he became king, and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Charuz of Yotbah.
Aman avait vingt-deux ans en montant sur le trône, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s’appelait Mechoullémet, fille de Harouç, de Yotba.
20 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Menasseh had done.
Il fit le mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, à l’exemple de Manassé, son père.
21 And he walked in all the way that his father had walked in, and served the idols that his father had served, and bowed himself down to them;
Il suivit en tout la voie où celui-ci avait marché, Il adora les idoles que son père avait servies et se prosterna devant elles;
22 And he forsook the Lord the God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the Lord.
il abandonna l’Eternel, le Dieu de ses ancêtres, et ne marcha pas dans ses voies.
23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.
Les officiers d’Amon conspirèrent contre lui, et le mirent à mort dans son palais.
24 And the people of the land slew all those that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
La population du pays massacra tous ceux qui s’étaient conjurés contre le roi Amon, et proclama roi à sa place son fils Josias.
25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
Le reste de l’histoire d’Amon et les faits accomplis par lui sont consignés dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.
26 And they buried him in his sepulchre in the garden of 'Uzza: and Josiah his son became king in his stead.
On l’ensevelit dans son sépulcre du jardin d’Ouzza, et Josias le remplaça sur le trône.
