2 Kings 17
1 In the twelfth year of Achaz the king of Judah became Hoshea' the son of Elah king in Samaria over Israel, [for] nine years.
यहूदाका राजा आहाजको बाह्रौं वर्षमा एलाहका छोरा होशियाले राज्य सुरु गरे । तिनले सामरियामा बसेर इस्राएलमाथि नौ वर्ष राज्य गरे ।
2 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel that were before him.
परमप्रभुको दृष्टिमा जे खराब थियो तिनले त्यही गरे, तापनि तिनीभन्दा अगिका इस्राएलका राजाहरूले जस्तै भने होइन ।
3 Against him came up Shalmanesser, the king of Assyria; and Hoshea' became his servant, and rendered him tribute.
अश्शूरका राजा शलमनेशेरले होशियालाई आक्रमण गरे र उनी तिनका सेवक बने र तिनलाई कर तिरे ।
4 And the king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy on Hoshea'; for he had sent messengers to So the king of Egypt, and had raised no tribute for the king of Assyria, as [before] year by year; and the king of Assyria made him prisoner, and shut him up in a prison-house.
त्यसपछि आफ्नो विरुद्धमा होशियाले षड्यन्त्र गरेका कुराको जानकरी अश्शूरका राजाले थाहा पाए, किनकि होशियाले मिश्रका राजा सोकहाँ सन्देशवाहकहरू पठाएका थिए । साथै, तिनले अश्शूरका राजालाई वर्षैपिच्छे तिर्दै आएको कर पनि तिरेनन् । त्यसैले अश्शूरका राजाले तिनलाई बन्दी बनाए र झ्यालखानामा थुनेर राखे ।
5 And the king of Assyria came up over all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
तब अश्शूरका राजाले देशैभरि आक्रमण गरे, र सामरियामाथि आक्रमण गरे र यसलाई तिन वर्षसम्म घेराबन्दी गरे ।
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea' did the king of Assyria capture Samaria, and he led Israel away as exiles into Assyria, and settled them in Chalach and in Chabor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of Media.
होशियाको नवौँ वर्षमा अश्शूरका राजाले सामरियालाई कब्जा गरे र इस्राएलीहरूलाई अश्शूरमा लगे । तिनीहरूलाई गोजानको हाबोर नदीको किनारको हलहमा र मादीहरूका सहरहरूमा तिनले बसाले ।
7 This took place, because the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
इस्राएलीहरूले आफूलाई मिश्रदेशका राजा फारोको हातबाट छुटाउनुहुने, तिनीहरूलाई मिश्रदेशबाट ल्याउनुहुने परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरको विरुद्धमा पाप गरेका हुनाले यसरी तिनीहरू बन्दी भए । यी मानिसहरूले अरू देवताहरूको पुजा गरिरहेका थिए,
8 And had walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord had driven out from before the children of Israel, and in those of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
र इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका सामुबाट परमप्रभुले धपाउनुभएका जातिहरूका अभ्यासहरू तथा इस्राएलका राजाहरूका अभ्यासहरू गरिरहेका थिए ।
9 And [because] the children of Israel had secretly done things that are not right against the Lord their God, and had built themselves high-places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen up to fortified cities;
इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरको विरुद्धमा जे कुराहरू गर्नु ठिक थिएन, गुप्त रूपमा त्यही गरे । धरहरादेखि किल्लासम्म नै आफ्ना सबै सहरहरूमा तिनीहरूले आफ्ना निम्ति उच्च थानहरू बनाए ।
10 And had set themselves up statues and groves on every high hill, and under every green tree;
हरेक उच्च डाँडा रहरेक हरियो रुखमुनि तिनीहरूले डुङ्गाका मूर्तिहरू र अशेराका खम्बाहरू बनाए ।
11 And had burnt there incense on all the high-places, like the nations that the Lord had led away exiles before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger;
तिनीहरूका सामुबाट परमप्रभुले धपाउनुभएका जातिहरूले गरेजस्तै तिनीहरूले उच्च थानहरूमा धूप बाले । परमप्रभुलाई रिस उठाउनलाई इस्राएलीहरूले दुष्ट कुराहरू गरे,
12 And had served the idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.
तिनीहरूले मूर्तिहरूको पुजा गरे, जसका बारेमा परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई भन्नुभएको थियो, “तिमीहरूले यो कुरा गर्ने छैनौ ।”
13 The Lord had indeed warned Israel and Judah, by means of all the prophets, all the seers, saying, Turn ye back from your evil ways, and keep my commandments [and] my statutes, in accordance with all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I have sent to you by means of my servants the prophets.
तापनि परमप्रभुले हरेक अगमवक्ता र हरेक दर्शीद्वारा इस्राएल र यहूदालाई यसो भनरे चेताउनी दिनुभएको थियो, “आ-आफ्ना दुष्ट मार्गहरूबाट फर्केर मेरा आज्ञाहरू र विधिहरू पालन गर, अनि मैले तिमीहरूका पुर्खाहरूलाई आज्ञा गरेका अनि आफ्ना सेवकहरू अर्थात् अगमवक्ताहरूद्वारा मैले तिमीहरूकहाँ पठाएका सबै आज्ञा पालन गर्न सावधना होओ ।”
14 But they would not hear, and hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who had not believed in the Lord their God;
तर तिनीहरूले सुनेनन् । बरु परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरमाथि विश्वास नगर्ने आफ्ना पुर्खाहरूजस्तै तिनीहरू ज्यादै हठी भए ।
15 And they despised his statutes, and his covenant which he had made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he had entrusted to them; and they followed after what is vanity, and became vain, and followed after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, not to do like them.
तिनीहरूले उहाँका विधिहरू र तिनीहरूका पुर्खाहरूसित उहाँले बाँध्नुभएको करार र उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई दिनुभएका करारका आज्ञाहरूलाई इन्कार गरे । तिनीहरूले बेकम्मा अभ्यासहरूको अनुसरण गरे अनि तिनीहरू आफै पनि बेकम्मा भए । तिनीहरूले आफ्नो वरिपरि भएका अरू जातिहरूको अनुसरण गरे जसको नकल्ल नगर्नू भनेर परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई आज्ञा दिनुभएको थियो ।
16 And they forsook all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made themselves molten images, two calves, and made a grove, and bowed down to all the host of the heavens, and served Ba'al;
तिनीहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरका सबै आज्ञालाई बेवास्ता गरे । तिनीहरूले पुजा गर्नलाई पिटेर तयार पारिएका धातुको दुईवटा बाछाका बनाए । तिनीहरूले अशेरा देवीको खम्बा बनाए, र तिनीहरूले आकाशका सम्पूर्ण तारा र बालको पुजा गरे ।
17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divinations and enchantments, and sold themselves to do what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
तिनीहरूले आफ्ना छोराछोरीलाई आगोमा हिंड्न लगाए, तिनीहरूले जोखना हेर र टुनामुना गरे, तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुको दृष्टिमा जे खराब छ, त्यही गर्न आफैलाई बेचे, र तिनीहरूले उहाँलाई रिस उठाए ।
18 Therefore became the Lord very angry with Israel, and he removed them from his presence: there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.
त्यसकारण परमप्रभु इस्राएलसित अत्यन्तै रिसाउनुभयो, र तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो दृष्टिबाट हटाइदिनुभयो । त्यहाँ यहूदाको कुलबाहेक कोही पनि छोडिएन ।
19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the customs of Israel which they had made.
यहूदाले पनि परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरका आज्ञाहरू पालन गरेनन्, र तिनीहरूले इस्राएलले गरेका अभ्यासहरूको अनुसरण गरे ।
20 Therefore did the Lord reject all the seed of Israel, and he afflicted them, and gave them up into the hand of spoilers, until that he had cast them out of his presence.
यसैले परमप्रभुले इस्राएलका सबै सन्तानलाई इन्कार गर्नुभयो । उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई कष्ट दिनुभयो, र तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो दृष्टिबाट नफल्नुभएसम्म उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई लुटको मालको रूपमा अधिकार गर्नेहरूको हातमा सुम्पिनुभयो ।
21 For Israel had torn themselves from the house of David, and they made Jerobo'am the son of Nebat king: and Jerobo'am misled Israel from following the Lord, and caused them to commit a great sin;
उहाँले इस्राएललाई दाऊदको राजकीय वंशबाट अलग गर्नुभयो, र तिनीहरूले नबातका छोरा यारोबामलाई राजा बनाए । यारोबामले इस्राएललाई परमप्रभुको अनुसरण गर्नबाट बहकाए र तिनीहरूलाई ठुलो पाप गर्न लगाए ।
22 And the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jerobo'am which he did; they departed not therefrom.
इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले यारोबामका सबै पापको अनुसरण गरे र तिनीहरू ती कुराबाट फर्केनन्,
23 Until that the Lord removed Israel out of his presence, as he had spoken by means of all his servants the prophets; and Israel was led away as exiles out of their own land to Assyria even until this day.
त्यसैले परमप्रभुले आफ्ना सबै सेवक अगमवक्ताहरूद्वारा आफूले गर्छु भन्नुभएझैँ इस्राएललाई आफ्नो दृष्टिबाट हटाउनुभयो । यसरी तिनीहरूको आफ्नै देशबाट इस्राएललाई अश्शूरमा बन्दी बनाएर लगियो, र आजको दिनसम्म पनि त्यस्तै भएको छ ।
24 And the king of Assyria brought [men] from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from 'Avva, and from Chamath, and from Sepharvayim, and settled them in the cities of Samaria in the room of the children of Israel: and they took possession of Samaria, and dwelt in its cities.
अश्शूरका राजाले बेबिलोनबाट र कूताबाट र अव्वाबाट हमात र सपर्बेमबाट मानिसहरू ल्याए र इस्राएलका मनिसहरूको साटोमा तिनीहरूलाई सामरियाका सहरहरूमा बसाले । तिनीहरूले सामरिया कब्जा गरे र यसका सहरहरूमा बसे ।
25 And it happened at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord; wherefore the Lord sent among them lions, which slew some of them.
तिनीहरूले बसोबाससुरु गर्दा तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुलाई आदर गरेनन् । त्यसैले परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूका बिचमा सिंहहरू पठाउनुभयो जसलेतिनीहरूमा कसैलाई मारे ।
26 And they said to the king of Assyria, as followeth, The nations that thou hast led away, and settled in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land; wherefore he hath sent among them lions, and, behold, they are slaying them, since they know not the manner of the God of the land.
त्यसैले तिनीहरूले अश्शूरका राजालाई यसो भने, “तपाईंले बन्दी बनाएर लैजानुभएका जातिहरू र सामरियाका सहरहरूमा बसोबास गरेका मानिसहरूले यस देशका देवताले चाहेका अभ्यासहरूका जान्दैनन् । त्यसैले उहाँले तिनीहरूका बिचमा सिंहहरू पठाउनुभएको छ, र सिंहहरूले यहाँ मानिसहरूलाई मर्दैछन् किनकि तिनीहरूले यस देशका देवताले चाहेका अभ्यासहरू जान्दैनन् ।”
27 Then commanded the king of Assyria, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye led away from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
तब अश्शूरका राजाले यसो भनेर आज्ञा दिए, “तिमीहरूले त्यहाँबाट ल्याएका पुजारीहरूमध्ये एउटालाई लिएर जाओ । तिनी गएर त्यहीँ बसून्, र तिनले त्यस देशका देवताले चाहेका अभ्यासहरू मानिसहरूलाई सिकाऊन् ।”
28 And there came one of the priests whom they had led away as exiles from Samaria, and dwelt in Beth-el; and he taught them how they should fear the Lord.
त्यसैले तिनीहरूले सामरियाबाट बन्दी बनाएर लगेका पुजारीहरूमध्ये एक जना आए र बेथेलमा बसे । तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुलाई कसरी आदर गर्नुपर्छ भनी तिनले तिनीहरूलाई सिकाए ।
29 Yet they made, every nation, their own gods; and they put them in the houses of the high-places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
हरेक जातिले आ-आफ्ना देवताहरू बनाए, अनि सामरीहरूले बनाएका उच्च थानहरूमा तिनलाई राखे । आफू बसोबास गर्ने ठाउँमा हरेक जातिले त्यसै गरे ।
30 And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Neregal, and the men of Chamath made Ashima.
बेबिलोनका मानिसहरूले सुक्कोन-बनोत बनाए, कूताका मानिसहरूले नेर्गल बनाए, हमातका मानिसहरूले अशीमा बनाए,
31 And the 'Avvites made Nibchaz and Tharthak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to 'Adrammelech and 'Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvayim.
अव्वीहरूले नेभज र तर्ताक बनाए । सपर्बेमीहरूले आफ्ना देवता अद्रम्मलेक र अनम्मलेकका निम्ति आफ्ना छोराछोरीलाई आगोमा जलाए ।
32 And they feared [also] the Lord; and they made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high-places, and these sacrificed for them in the houses of the high-places.
तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुको पनि आदर गरे, र तिनीहरूका बिचबाट उच्च थानहरूमा पुजारीहरू नियुक्त गरे, जसले उच्च स्थानमा निर्मित मन्दिरहरूमा आफ्ना निम्ति बलि चढाए ।
33 The Lord did they fear, and their own gods did they serve, after the manner of the nations whence they had been led away.
तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुलाई आदर गर्थे र जुन जातिहरूबाट आफू ल्याइएका थिए तिनीहरूकै प्रचलनअनुसार आ-आफ्नै देवताहरूको पनि पुज्थे ।
34 Even until this day do they act after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they act after their own customs, and after their manner, nor after the law and after the commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Israel, whose name he styled Israel;
आजको दिनसम्म तिनीहरू आफ्ना पुराना प्रचलनहरूमा लागेकै छन् । तिनीहरूले न परमप्रभुलाई आदर गर्छन्, न त परमप्रभुले इस्राएल नाउँ दिनुभएको याकूबका मानिसहरूलाई उहाँले दिनुभएका विधिहरू, उर्दीहरू, व्यवस्था वा आज्ञाहरू नै तिनीहरूले पालन गर्छन्—
35 With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves down to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;
अनि तिनीहरूसित परमप्रभुले करार बाँध्नुभयो र तिनीहरूलाई आज्ञा दिनुभयो, “तिमीहरूले अन्य देवताहरूको भय मान्ने छैनौ, न तिनीहरूको सामु निहुरिनेछौ, न तिनीहरूकको पुजा गर्नेछौ न त तिनीहरूलाई बलि चढाउनेछौ ।
36 But the Lord, who hath brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great might and with an outstretched arm, him alone shall ye fear, and to him shall ye bow yourselves down, and to him shall ye sacrifice;
तर महान् शक्ति र उठेका हातहरूले तिमीहरूलाई मिश्रदेशबाट ल्याउनुहुने परमप्रभुलाई मात्र तिमीहरूले आदर गर्नुपर्छ । तिमीहरूले उहाँलाई मात्र दण्डवत् गर्नुपर्छ, र उहाँलाई मात्र बलि चढाउनुपर्छ ।
37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he hath written for you, shall ye observe to do for all time; and ye shall not fear other gods.
उहाँले तिमीहरूका निम्ति लेख्नुभएका विधिहरू र उर्दीहरू, व्यवस्था र आज्ञाहरूलाई तिमीहरूले सदासर्वदा पालन गर्नेछौ । त्यसैले तिमीहरू अन्य देवताहरूको डर मान्नुहुँदैन,
38 And the covenant that I have made with you shall ye not forget; and ye shall not fear other gods.
र मैले तिमीहरूसित बाँधेको करार तिमीहरूले बिर्सनेछेनौ, न त तिमीहरूले अन्य देवताहरूको आदर गर्नेछौ ।
39 But the Lord your God shall ye fear; and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
तर तिमीहरूले आफ्ना परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको आदर गर्नेछौ । उहाँले तिमीहरूका शत्रुहरूको शक्तिबाट तिमीहरूलाई छुटकारा दिनुहुनेछ ।”
40 Nevertheless they have not hearkened, but they act after their former manner.
तिनीहरूले यो कुरा सुनेनन्, किनकि तिनीहरूले विगतमा गरेका कुरामा तिनीहरू लागिरहे ।
41 So were these nations, while they feared the Lord, also serving their graven images; and both their children and their children's children do until this day as their fathers have done.
यसरी यी जातिहरू परमप्रभुदेखि डराए र आफूले खोपेर बनाएका मूर्तिहरूको पनि तिनीहरूले पुजा गरे, अनि तिनीहरूका छोराछोरी र नातिनातिनाले पनि त्यसै गरे । आजको दिनसम्म आफ्ना पुर्खाहरूले गरेझैँ तिनीहरूले निरन्तर त्यसै गर्दैछन् ।
