2 Kings 1
1 Then did Moab rebel against Israel after the death of Achab.
૧આહાબના મરણ પછી મોઆબે ઇઝરાયલની સામે બળવો કર્યો.
2 And Achazyah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and became sick; and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, inquire of Ba'al-zebub the god of 'Ekron whether I shall recover from this sickness.
૨અહાઝયાહ સમરુનમાં તેના ઉપરના ઓરડાની બારીમાંથી નીચે પડી જવાથી તે બીમાર પડ્યો હતો. તેથી તેણે સંદેશાવાહકોને મોકલીને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, “જઈને એક્રોનના દેવ બઆલ-ઝબૂબ ને પૂછો કે, શું હું આ બીમારીમાંથી સાજો થઈશ?”
3 But an angel of the Lord spoke to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Ba'al-zebub the god of 'Ekron?
૩પણ ઈશ્વરના દૂતે તિશ્બી એલિયાને કહ્યું, “ઊઠ, સમરુનના રાજાના સંદેશાવાહકોને મળવા સામે જા અને તેમને કહે, ‘શું ઇઝરાયલમાં કોઈ ઈશ્વર નથી કે તમે એક્રોનના દેવ બઆલ-ઝબૂબની સલાહ લેવા જાઓ છો?
4 Now therefore, thus hath said the Lord, From the bed on which thou art gone up shalt thou not come down; for thou shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
૪ઈશ્વર એવું કહે છે કે, “જે પલંગ પર તું સૂતો છે તે પરથી તારાથી ઉઠાશે નહિ; પણ તું નિશ્ચે મરણ પામશે.” પછી એલિયા ચાલ્યો ગયો.
5 And the messengers returned unto him, and he said unto them, Why is this that ye are already returned?
૫જયારે સંદેશાવાહકો અહાઝયાહ પાસે પાછા આવ્યા ત્યારે તેણે તેઓને પૂછ્યું, “શા માટે તમે પાછા આવ્યા?”
6 And they said unto him, There came up a man to meet us, and he said unto us, Go, return unto the king that hath sent you, and speak unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Ba'al-zebub the god of 'Ekron? therefore from the bed on which thou art gone up shalt thou not come down; for thou shalt surely die.
૬તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું, “એક માણસ અમને મળવા આવ્યો અને તેણે અમને કહ્યું કે, ‘જે રાજાએ તમને મોકલ્યા છે તેની પાસે પાછા જઈને તેને કહો કે, “યહોવાહ એવું કહે છે કે, ‘શું ઇઝરાયલમાં કોઈ ઈશ્વર નથી કે, તું એક્રોનના દેવ બઆલ-ઝબૂબને સલાહ પૂછવા મોકલે છે? માટે જે પલંગ પર તું સૂતો છે તે પરથી તારાથી ઉઠાશે નહિ, પણ તું નિશ્ચે મરણ પામશે.’”
7 And he spoke unto them, What is the manner of the man who came up to meet you, and spoke unto you these words?
૭અહાઝયાહએ તેના સંદેશાવાહકોને પૂછ્યું, “જે માણસ તમને મળવા આવ્યો અને જેણે તમને આ વચનો કહ્યાં તે કેવા પ્રકારનો માણસ હતો?”
8 And they said unto him, He is a hairy man, with a girdle of leather girded about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
૮તેઓએ કહ્યું, “તે માણસનાં શરીરે વાળ હતા અને તેની કમરે ચામડાનો પટ્ટો બાંધેલો હતો.” રાજાએ કહ્યું, “તે તો નિશ્ચે તિશ્બી એલિયા છે.”
9 Then did he send unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty: and he went up to him, and, behold, he was sitting on the top of the mount; and he spoke unto him, O man of God, the king hath commanded, Come down.
૯પછી રાજાએ સરદારને પચાસ સૈનિકો સાથે એલિયા પાસે મોકલ્યો. તે સરદાર ત્યાં પહોંચ્યો ત્યારે તેણે એલિયાને પર્વતના શિખરે બેઠેલો જોયો. સરદારે તેને કહ્યું કે, “હે ઈશ્વરભક્ત, રાજાએ કહ્યું છે કે, તું નીચે ઊતર.’
10 And Elijah answered and spoke to the captain of the fifty, And if I be a man of God, let a fire come down from heaven and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down a fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
૧૦એલિયાએ કહ્યું, “જો હું ઈશ્વરભક્ત હોઉં, તો આકાશમાંથી અગ્નિ ઊતરીને તને તથા તારા પચાસ સૈનિકોને ભસ્મ કરી નાખો.” તેથી આકાશમાંથી અગ્નિએ ઊતરીને સરદારને તથા તેના પચાસ સૈનિકોને ભસ્મ કરી નાખ્યા.
11 And he sent again unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he commenced and spoke unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
૧૧અહાઝયાહએ ફરીથી બીજા સરદારને પચાસ સૈનિકો સાથે એલિયા પાસે મોકલ્યો. આ સરદારે પણ એલિયા પાસે જઈને કહ્યું, “હે ઈશ્વરભક્ત, રાજાએ કહાવ્યું છે કે, ‘જલ્દીથી નીચે ઊતર.’
12 And Elijah answered and spoke unto them, If I be a man of God, let a fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
૧૨એલિયાએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “જો હું ઈશ્વરભક્ત હોઉં, તો આકાશમાંથી અગ્નિ ઊતરીને તને તથા તારા પચાસ સૈનિકોને ભસ્મ કરી નાખો.” ફરીથી આકાશમાંથી ઈશ્વરના અગ્નિએ ઊતરીને સરદારને તથા તેના બધા સૈનિકોને ભસ્મ કરી નાખ્યા.
13 And he sent again a captain of fifty the third time with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and bent down on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and spoke unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these fifty thy servants be precious in thy eyes.
૧૩ફરીથી રાજાએ ત્રીજા પચાસ સૈનિકોને સરદાર સાથે તેની પાસે મોકલ્યો. ત્રીજા સરદારે ઉપર જઈને એલિયા આગળ ઘૂંટણે પડીને તેને વિનંતી કરીને કહ્યું, “હે ઈશ્વરભક્ત, કૃપા કરીને મારું જીવન તથા આ મારા પચાસ સૈનિકોનાં જીવન તમારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં મૂલ્યવાન ગણાઓ.
14 Behold, there came down a fire from heaven, and consumed the two captains of the first fifties with their fifties; and now let my life be precious in thy eyes.
૧૪ખરેખર, આકાશમાંથી અગ્નિએ ઊતરીને પહેલા બે સરદારોને તેઓના સૈનિકો સાથે ભસ્મ કર્યા, પણ હવે મારું જીવન તારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં મૂલ્યવાન ગણાઓ.”
15 And the angel of the Lord spoke unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him, and he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
૧૫તેથી ઈશ્વરના દૂતે એલિયાને કહ્યું, “તેની સાથે નીચે જા. તેનાથી બીશ નહિ.” માટે એલિયા ઊઠીને તેની સાથે રાજા પાસે ગયો.
16 And he spoke unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Forasmuch as thou didst send messengers to inquire of Ba'al-zebub the God of 'Ekron, as though there were no God in Israel to inquire of his word: therefore from the bed on which thou art gone up shalt thou not come down; for thou shalt surely die.
૧૬પછી એલિયાએ અહાઝયાહને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વર એવું કહે છે કે, ‘તેં એક્રોનના દેવ બઆલ-ઝબૂબને પૂછવા સંદેશાવાહકો મોકલ્યા છે શું ઇઝરાયલમાં ઈશ્વર નથી કે જેને તું સલાહ પૂછી શકે છે? તેથી હવે, તું જે પલંગ પર સૂતો છે તે પરથી તારાથી ઉઠાશે નહિ; પણ તું નિશ્ચે મરણ પામશે.’”
17 And he died, according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken; and Jehoram became king in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah; because he had no son.
૧૭તેથી જેમ એલિયાએ ઈશ્વરના વચન પ્રમાણે કહ્યું હતું તેમ અહાઝયાહ રાજા મરણ પામ્યો. તેની જગ્યાએ યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોશાફાટના દીકરા યહોરામને બીજે વર્ષે યોરામ રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો, કેમ કે તેને દીકરો ન હતો.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Achazyahu which he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
૧૮અહાઝયાહના બાકીનાં કૃત્યો વિષે ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓના કાળવૃત્તાંતના પુસ્તકમાં લખેલા નથી શું?
