2 Chronicles 7

1 And when Solomon had made an end of praying, a fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.

وقتی دعای سلیمان به پایان رسید، از آسمان آتشی فرود آمد و قربانیها را سوزانید و حضور پرجلال خداوند عبادتگاه را پر کرد، به طوری که کاهنان نتوانستند داخل خانهٔ خداوند شوند!

2 And the priests were not able to enter into the house of the Lord; because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house.

3 And all the children of Israel were looking on as the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord [was resting] upon the house; and they kneeled down with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and prostrated themselves, and gave thanks unto the Lord, for he is good; because unto everlasting endureth his kindness.

بنی‌اسرائیل چون این منظره را دیدند بر خاک افتاده، خداوند را به سبب نیکویی و محبت بی‌پایانش سجده و ستایش کردند.

4 And the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord.

آنگاه پادشاه و همۀ قوم قربانیها به خداوند تقدیم کردند.

5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep: and so they dedicated the house of God, the king and all the people.

سلیمان پادشاه بیست و دو هزار گاو و صد و بیست هزار گوسفند قربانی کرد. به این ترتیب، پادشاه و همۀ قوم خانۀ خدا را تبرک نمودند.

6 And the priests were standing on their stations, and the Levites with the instruments of the music of the Lord, which king David had made to give thanks unto the Lord, because unto everlasting endureth his kindness, with the song of praise of David in their hand; and the priests blew the trumpets opposite to them, and all Israel were standing.

کاهنان سر خدمت بودند و لاویان سرود شکرگزاری می‌خواندند و می‌گفتند: «محبت او بی‌پایان است.» آنها از آلات موسیقی‌ای استفاده می‌کردند که داوود پادشاه ساخته بود و در زمان او برای ستایش خداوند به کار می‌رفت. سپس وقتی کاهنان شیپورها را نواختند، تمام جماعت بر پا ایستادند.

7 And Solomon hallowed the interior of the court that was before the house of the Lord; for he prepared there the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings; because the copper altar which Solomon had made was not able to contain the burnt-offerings, and the meat-offerings, and the fat.

سلیمان آن روز، وسط حیاط خانهٔ خداوند را برای قربانی کردن تقدیس کرد، زیرا مذبح مفرغین گنجایش آن همه قربانیهای سوختنی و هدایای آردی و چربی قربانیهای سلامتی را نداشت.

8 And Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Chamath unto the river of Egypt.

سلیمان و تمام مردم اسرائیل، عید خیمه‌ها را تا هفت روز جشن گرفتند. عدهٔ زیادی از گذرگاه حمات تا سرحد مصر آمده بودند تا در این جشن شرکت کنند.

9 And they held on the eighth day a solemn assembly; for the dedication of the altar they held seven days, and the feast seven days.

آنها هفت روز برای تبرک مذبح و هفت روز دیگر برای عید خیمه‌ها صرف کردند و در روز آخر، جشن دیگری بر پا داشتند.

10 And on the three-and-twentieth day of the seventh month he dismissed the people unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart because of the good that the Lord had done for David, and for Solomon, and for Israel his people.

روز بعد یعنی بیست و سوم ماه هفتم، سلیمان مردم را روانهٔ خانه‌هایشان کرد. آنها برای تمام برکاتی که خداوند به داوود و سلیمان و قوم خود اسرائیل عطا کرده بود، خوشحال بودند.

11 Thus did Solomon complete the house of the Lord, and the king's house; and [in] all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prospered.

پس از آنکه سلیمان بنای خانهٔ خداوند و کاخ سلطنتی خود را تمام کرد و تمام طرحهایی را که برای آنها داشت تکمیل نمود،

12 Then appeared the Lord to Solomon during the night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and I have made choice of this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.

یک شب، خداوند بر او ظاهر شد و فرمود: «من دعای تو را مستجاب کرده و این خانه را انتخاب نموده‌ام تا مردم در آنجا برای من قربانی کنند.

13 If I shut up the heavens that there be no rain, or if I give a charge to the locusts to devour off the land, or if I send a pestilence among my people:

هرگاه آسمان را ببندم تا باران نبارد، یا امر کنم که ملخ تمام محصولات زمین را بخورد، و بلا بر قوم خود نازل کنم،

14 And if my people, over whom my name is called, do then humble themselves, and pray, and seek my presence, and turn away from their evil ways: then will I also hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

اگر قوم من که به اسم من خوانده می‌شوند فروتن شده، دعا کنند و مرا بطلبند و از راههای بد خویش بازگشت نمایند، آنگاه ایشان را از آسمان اجابت نموده، گناهانشان را می‌بخشم و سلامتی را به سرزمین آنها باز می‌گردانم.

15 Now, my eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive unto the prayer on this place.

از این پس، چشمانم بر این خانه خواهد بود و گوشهایم دعاهایی را که در آنجا کرده می‌شود خواهد شنید،

16 And now I have chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there at all times.

زیرا این خانه را برگزیده‌ام و آن را تقدیس کرده‌ام تا نام من تا به ابد بر آن باشد. چشم و دل من همیشه بر این خانه خواهد بود.

17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father hath walked, so as to do in accordance with all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my ordinances:

«اگر تو مثل پدرت داوود مرا پیروی کنی و اوامر و احکام مرا نگه داری،

18 Then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom, just as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall never fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

آنگاه همان‌طور که به پدرت داوود قول داده‌ام همیشه یک نفر از نسل او بر اسرائیل سلطنت خواهد کرد.

19 But if ye will indeed turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and will go and serve other gods, and bow down to them:

«ولی اگر شما از دستورهایی که به شما داده‌ام سرپیچی کنید و از من روی بگردانید و به بت‌پرستی بگرایید،

20 Then will I pluck them up out of my land which I have given unto them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast away from my sight, and I will render it to be for a proverb and for a by-word among all the people.

آنگاه بنی‌اسرائیل را از این سرزمین که به آنان بخشیده‌ام، بیرون می‌رانم و حتی این خانه را که به نام خود تقدیس نموده‌ام ترک خواهم گفت، به طوری که اسرائیل رسوا شده، زبانزد قومهای دیگر خواهد شد.

21 And this house, which hath been so exalted, shall become an astonishment to every one that passeth by it: so that he will say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

این خانه که چنین شهرتی دارد با خاک یکسان خواهد گردید، به طوری که هر کس از کنارش بگذرد حیران شده، خواهد پرسید:”چرا خداوند با این سرزمین و این خانه چنین کرده است؟“

22 And men shall then say, For the cause that they forsook the Lord the God of their fathers, who had brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and they took hold of other gods, and bowed down to them, and served them: therefore hath he brought upon them all this evil.

در جواب خواهند گفت:”چون بنی‌اسرائیل خداوند، خدای اجدادشان را که آنها را از مصر بیرون آورده بود ترک گفته، بت‌پرست شدند، به همین علّت خدا این بلا را بر سر آنها آورده است.“»
