2 Chronicles 29
1 Hezekiah became king when five and twenty years old, and twenty and nine years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abiyah, the daughter of Zecharyahu.
Ézéchias commença donc à régner à l’âge de vingt-cinq ans, et il en régna vingt-neuf dans Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Abia, fille de Zacharie.
2 And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that David his father had done.
Et il fit ce qui était agréable en la présence du Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait David son père.
3 He it was that in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.
C’est lui qui, au premier mois de la première année de son règne, ouvrit les battants des portes de la maison du Seigneur, et les rétablit;
4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the open place at the east;
Et il fit venir les prêtres et les Lévites, et les assembla sur la place orientale.
5 And he said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify yourselves now, and sanctity the house of the Lord the God of your fathers, and carry forth the unclean thing out of the sanctuary.
Et il leur dit: Ecoutez-moi, Lévites; sanctifiez-vous, purifiez la maison du Seigneur Dieu de vos pères, et ôtez toute impureté du sanctuaire.
6 For our fathers have dealt faithlessly, and have done what is evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken him; and they have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.
Nos pères ont péché, et ils ont fait le mal en la présence du Seigneur notre Dieu, en l’abandonnant: ils ont détourné leurs faces du tabernacle du Seigneur, et ils ont montré le dos.
7 They had also locked up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and incense have they not burnt, and the burnt-offerings have they not offered in the sanctuary, unto the God of Israel.
Ils ont fermé les portes qui étaient dans le portique, et ont éteint les lampes; ils n’ont pas brûlé d’encens, et n’ont pas offert d’holocaustes dans le sanctuaire au Dieu d’Israël.
8 Wherefore the wrath of the Lord is upon Judah and Jerusalem. and he hath rendered them to be a horror, an astonishment, and a hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
C’est pourquoi la fureur du Seigneur a été excitée contre Juda et Jérusalem; il les a livrés à la commotion, à la mort et au sifflement, comme vous-mêmes le voyez de vos yeux.
9 And, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, and our daughters, and our wives are in captivity because of this.
Voilà que nos pères sont tombés sous le glaive, que nos fils, nos filles et nos femmes ont été emmenés captifs à cause de ce crime.
10 Now it is in my heart to make a covenant for the Lord the God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
Il me plaît donc maintenant que nous contractions alliance avec le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël, et il détournera de nous la fureur de sa colère.
11 My sons, be not negligent now; for of you hath the Lord made choice to stand before him, to minister unto him, and that ye might be unto him ministers and those that burn incense.
Mes enfants, ne soyez point négligents: le Seigneur vous a choisis pour vous tenir devant lui, le servir, l’adorer et brûler pour lui de l’encens.
12 Then arose the Levites, Machath the son of 'Amassai, and Joel the son of 'Azaryahu, of the sons of the Kehathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of 'Abdi, and 'Azaryahu the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershunites, Joach the son of Zimmah, and 'Eden the son of Joach:
Ainsi se levèrent les Lévites, Mahath, fils d’Amasaï, et Joël, fils d’Azarias, d’entre les descendants de Caath; mais d’entre les descendants de Mérari, Cis, fils d’Abdi, et Azarias, fils de Jalaléel; et d’entre les descendants de Gersom, Joab, fils de Zemma, et Eden, fils de Joab;
13 And of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri, and Je'iel; and of the sons of Assaph, Zecharyahu and Matthanyahu;
Mais d’entre les descendants d’Elisaphan, Samri et Jahiel; comme aussi les descendants d’Asaph, Zacharie et Mathanie;
14 And of the sons of Heman, Jechiel and Shim'i; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shema'yah and 'Uzziel;
Et d’entre les descendants d’Héman, Jahiel et Séméi; mais aussi les descendants d’Idithun, Séméias et Oziel.
15 And they gathered together their brethren, and they sanctified themselves, and came, according to the command of the king, by the words of the Lord, to cleanse the house of the Lord.
Et ils assemblèrent leurs frères, puis ils se sanctifièrent et entrèrent, suivant l’ordre du roi et le commandement du Seigneur, pour purifier la maison de Dieu.
16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it; and they brought out every thing unclean which they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord; and the Levites received it, to carry it out abroad unto the brook Kidron.
Les prêtres aussi entrèrent dans le temple du Seigneur pour le sanctifier, et ils ôtèrent toute impureté qu’ils trouvèrent au dedans, dans le vestibule de la maison du Seigneur, et que les Lévites enlevèrent et emportèrent dans le torrent de Cédron.
17 And they commenced on the first day of the first month to sanctify; and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of the Lord, and they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
Or ils commencèrent au premier jour du premier mois à purifier, et au huitième jour du même mois ils entrèrent dans le portique du temple du Seigneur: ils purifièrent le temple durant huit jours; et, au seizième jour du même mois, ils achevèrent ce qu’ils avaient commencé.
18 Then went they in the inner part [of the palace] to king Hezekiah, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, and the altar of burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and the table of shewbread, and all its vessels.
ils entrèrent aussi auprès du roi Ezéchias, et lui dirent: Nous avons sanctifié toute la maison du Seigneur, l’autel de l’holocauste, et ses vases, et même la table de proposition avec tous ses vases,
19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Achaz had cast aside during his reign in his faithlessness, have we put in order and sanctified: and, behold, they are before the altar of the Lord.
Et tous les meubles du temple, qu’avait souillés le roi Achaz, durant son règne, après qu’il eut prévariqué; et voilà que tout a été posé devant l’autel du Seigneur.
20 Then arose king Hezekiah early, and gathered together the princes of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord.
Et le roi Ezéchias, se levant au point du jour, réunit tous les princes de la ville, et monta à la maison du Seigneur;
21 And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven sheep, and seven he-goats, as a sin-offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he ordered the sons of Aaron the priests to offer [them] on the altar of the Lord.
Et ils offrirent ensemble sept taureaux et sept béliers, sept agneaux et sept boucs, pour le péché, pour le royaume, pour le sanctuaire, pour Juda, et il dit aux prêtres descendants d’Aaron d’offrir ces victimes sur l’autel du Seigneur.
22 So they slaughtered the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar; and they slaughtered the rams, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar; they also slaughtered the sheep, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
Ils tuèrent donc les taureaux, et les prêtres prirent le sang et le répandirent sur l’autel; ils tuèrent aussi les béliers, et ils en répandirent le sang sur l’autel; ils immolèrent aussi les agneaux, et ils répandirent sur l’autel le sang.
23 And they brought near the he-goats of the sin-offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
Ils firent avancer les boucs pour le péché, devant le roi et toute la multitude, et ils posèrent leurs mains sur eux;
24 And the priests slaughtered them, and they made an expiation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel; because for all the people, said the king, should be the burnt-offering and the sin-offering.
Et les prêtres les immolèrent, et en répandirent le sang devant l’autel pour l’expiation de tout Israël; car c’est pour tout Israël que le roi avait commandé que l’holocauste se fît, et pour le péché.
25 And he stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the command of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: because from the Lord was this commandment by means of his prophets.
Il établit aussi les Lévites dans la maison du Seigneur, avec des cymbales, des psaltérions et des harpes, selon les prescriptions du roi David, de Gad, le Voyant, et de Nathan, le prophète; attendu que c’était un ordre du Seigneur par l’entremise de ses prophètes.
26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
Ainsi les Lévites s’y trouvèrent, tenant les instruments de David, et les prêtres les trompettes.
27 And Hezekiah ordered to offer the burnt-offering on the altar. And when the burnt-offering began, the song of the Lord began [also] with the trumpets, and with the instruments of David the king of Israel.
Et Ezéchias commanda qu’on offrît les holocaustes sur l’autel; et, lorsque l’on offrait les holocaustes, ils commencèrent à chanter des louanges au Seigneur, à sonner des trompettes, et à faire retentir divers instruments que David, roi d’Israël, avait préparés.
28 And all the assembly prostrated themselves, and the song sounded, and the trumpeters blew; all this [continued] until the burnt-offering was completed.
Or, toute la multitude adorant le Seigneur, les chantres et ceux qui tenaient les trompettes étaient à leur devoir, jusqu’à ce que l’holocauste fût achevé.
29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him kneeled down and prostrated themselves.
Et lorsque l’oblation fut finie, le roi s’inclina, et tous ceux qui étaient avec lui, et ils adorèrent.
30 And king Hezekiah and the princes then said to the Levites to sing praises unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Assaph the seer. And they sang praises with great joy, and they bowed their heads and prostrated themselves.
Et Ezéchias et les princes ordonnèrent aux Lévites de louer le Seigneur avec les paroles de David et d’Asaph, le Voyant; et ils le louèrent avec une grande joie, et, le genou courbé, ils adorèrent.
31 Then commenced Hezekiah, and said, Now have ye consecrated yourselves unto the Lord: come near and bring sacrifices and thanksgiving-offerings unto the house of the Lord. And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thanksgiving-offerings, and every one who was liberal of heart, burnt-offerings.
Mais Ezéchias ajouta encore ceci: Vous avez rempli vos mains pour le Seigneur; approchez, et offrez des victimes et des louanges dans la maison du Seigneur. Toute la multitude offrit donc des hosties, des louanges et des holocaustes avec un cœur dévoué.
32 And the number of the burnt-offerings, which the assembly brought, was seventy bullocks, one hundred rams, [and] two hundred sheep: as a burnt-offering unto the Lord were all these.
Quant au nombre des holocaustes qu’offrit la multitude, ce furent soixante-dix taureaux, cent béliers, et deux cents agneaux.
33 And the hallowed sacrifices were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
Et ils consacrèrent au Seigneur six cents bœufs et trois mille moutons.
34 Only the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt-offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites assisted them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests could sanctify themselves, for the Levites were of upright heart to sanctify themselves more than the priests.
Or les prêtres étaient en petit nombre, et ils ne pouvaient suffire à enlever la peau des holocaustes: c’est pourquoi les Lévites, leurs frères, les aidèrent jusqu’à ce que l’ouvrage fût achevé et que les prêtres fussent sanctifiés; car les Lévites sont sanctifiés avec un rit plus facile que les prêtres.
35 But there were also burnt-offerings in abundance, with the fat of the peace-offerings, and the drink-offerings for the burnt-offerings. So was [again] established the service of the house of the Lord.
On offrit donc un très grand nombre d’holocaustes, les graisses des hosties pacifiques, et les libations des holocaustes, et l’on rétablit entièrement le culte de la maison du Seigneur.
36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, with all the people, over that which God had prepared for the people; because the thing occurred suddenly.
Et Ezéchias se livra à l’allégresse, ainsi que tout le peuple, de ce que le service du Seigneur était entièrement rétabli; car il avait plu que cela se fît soudainement.
