2 Chronicles 26
1 And all the people of Judah took 'Uzziyahu, who was then sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazyahu.
Alors tout le peuple de Juda prit Hozias, qui était âgé de seize ans, et ils l'établirent Roi en la place d'Amatsia son père.
2 He it was that built Eloth, and brought it back to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
Il bâtit Eloth, l'ayant remise en la puissance de Juda, après que le Roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
3 Sixteen years old was 'Uzziyahu when he became king, and fifty and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yecholyah of Jerusalem.
Hozias [était] âgé de seize ans quand il commença à régner, et régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère avait nom Jécolia, [et] elle était de Jérusalem.
4 And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father Amazyahu had done.
Il fit ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel, comme avait fait Amatsia son père.
5 And he was [inclined] to seek God in the days of Zecharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God; and during the time that he sought the Lord, God caused him to prosper.
Il s'appliqua à rechercher Dieu pendant les jours de Zacharie, [homme] intelligent dans les visions de Dieu; et pendant les jours qu'il rechercha l'Eternel, Dieu le fit prospérer.
6 And he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and he broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in [the country of] Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
Car il sortit et fit la guerre contre les Philistins, et fit brèche à la muraille de Gath, et à la muraille de Jabné, et à la muraille d'Asdod; et il bâtit des villes [dans le pays] d'Asdod, et entre les [autres] Philistins.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-ba'al, and the Me'unim.
Et Dieu lui donna du secours contre les Philistins, et contre les Arabes qui habitaient à Gur-bahal, et contre les Méhunites.
8 And the 'Ammonites gave presents to 'Uzziyahu: and his name extended even to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceedingly strong.
Et même les Hammonites donnaient des présents à Hozias; de sorte que sa réputation se répandit jusqu'à l'entrée d'Egypte; car il s'était rendu fort puissant.
9 And 'Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem, above the corner-gate, and above the valley-gate, and at the angle, and made them strong.
Et Hozias bâtit des tours à Jérusalem, sur la porte du coin, et sur la porte de la vallée, et sur l'encoignure, et les fortifia.
10 He built also towers in the desert, and hewed out many wells; for he had much cattle, both in the lowlands and in the plain; [also] husbandmen, and vintners in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
Il bâtit aussi des tours au désert, et creusa plusieurs puits, parce qu'il avait beaucoup de bétail dans la plaine et dans la campagne; et des laboureurs et des vignerons dans les montagnes, et en Carmel; car il aimait l'agriculture.
11 Moreover 'Uzziyah had an army of fighting men, that went out to the host by bands, according to the number of those mustered of them through the hand of Je'iel the scribe and Ma'asseyahu the overseer, under the supervision of Chananyahu, one of the king's captains.
Et Hozias avait une armée composée de gens dressés à la guerre, qui marchaient en bataille par bandes, selon le compte de leur dénombrement, fait par Jéhiël scribe, et Mahaséja prévôt, sous la conduite de Hanania, l'un des principaux capitaines du Roi.
12 The whole number of the chiefs of the family divisions of the mighty men of valor was two thousand and six hundred.
Tout le nombre des Chefs des pères, d'entre ceux qui étaient forts et vaillants, était de deux mille et six cents.
13 And under their supervision was an efficient army, [of] three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
Et il y avait sous leur conduite une armée de trois cent sept mille et cinq cents combattants, tous gens aguerris, forts et vaillants, pour aider le Roi contre l'ennemi.
14 And 'Uzziyahu prepared for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
Et Hozias leur prépara, [savoir] à toute cette armée-là, des boucliers, des javelines, des casques, des cuirasses, des arcs, et des pierres de fronde.
15 And he made in Jerusalem artificial contrivances, contrived by a skilful man, to be [stationed] on the towers and upon the ramparts, to shoot off arrows and great stones. And his name extended ever so far abroad; for he was marvelously assisted, till he became strong.
Et il fit à Jérusalem des machines de l'invention d'un ingénieur, afin qu'elles fussent sur les tours, et sur les coins, pour jeter des flèches, et de grosses pierres. Ainsi sa réputation alla fort loin; car il fut extrêmement aidé jusqu'à ce qu'il fût devenu fort puissant.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he became unfaithful against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
Mais sitôt qu'il fut devenu fort puissant, son cœur s'éleva pour sa perte, et il commit un [grand] péché contre l'Eternel son Dieu; car il entra dans le Temple de l'Eternel pour faire le parfum sur l'autel des parfums.
17 And there went in after him 'Azaryahu the priest, and with him were priests of the Lord, valiant men, [to the number of] eighty;
Mais Hazaria le Sacrificateur [y] entra après lui, accompagné des Sacrificateurs de l'Eternel, au nombre de quatre-vingts vaillants hommes;
18 And they stood forward against king 'Uzziyahu, and they said unto him, It is not for thee, O 'Uzziyahu, to burn incense unto the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; and it will not be for thy honor from the Lord God.
Qui s'opposèrent au Roi Hozias, et lui dirent: Hozias! il ne t'appartient pas de faire le parfum à l'Eternel; car cela appartient aux Sacrificateurs, fils d'Aaron, qui sont consacrés pour faire le parfum. Sors du Sanctuaire, car tu as péché; et ceci ne te sera point honorable de la part de l'Eternel Dieu.
19 But 'Uzziyahu became wroth, and in his hand was a censer to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, above the altar of the incense.
Alors Hozias, qui avait en sa main le parfum pour faire des encensements, se mit en colère; et comme il s'irritait contre les Sacrificateurs, la lèpre s'éleva sur [son] front, en la présence des Sacrificateurs, dans la maison de l'Eternel, près de l'autel des parfums.
20 And when 'Azaryahu the chief priest, with all the priests, turned about toward him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead, and they hurried him away from there: yea, he also made haste to go out, because the Lord had afflicted him.
Alors Hazaria le principal Sacrificateur le regarda avec tous les sacrificateurs, et voilà, il était lépreux en son front, et ils le firent incessamment sortir; et il se hâta de sortir, parce que l'Eternel l'avait frappé.
21 And king 'Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in the leper-house, as a leper; for he was excluded from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, [and] judged the people of the land.
Et ainsi le Roi Hozias fut lépreux, jusqu'au jour qu'il mourut; et il demeura lépreux dans une maison écartée; même il fut retranché de la maison de l'Eternel, et Jotham son fils avait la charge de la maison du Roi, jugeant le peuple du pays.
22 And the rest of the acts of 'Uzziyahu, the first and the last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos write.
Or Esaïe fils d'Amots, Prophète, a écrit le reste des faits d'Hozias, tant les premiers que les derniers.
23 And 'Uzziyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-field which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son became king in his stead.
Et Hozias s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux dans le champ des sépulcres des Rois; car, ils dirent, il est lépreux; et Jotham son fils régna en sa place.
