2 Chronicles 25
1 When twenty and five years old did Amazyahu become king, and twenty and nine years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yeho'addan of Jerusalem.
A-ma-xia được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi người lên ngôi làm vua; người cai trị hai mươi chín năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; mẹ người tên là Giô-a-đan, quê ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.
2 And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not with an entire heart.
Người làm điều thiện tại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, song lòng không được trọn lành.
3 And it came to pass, when the kingdom was firmly established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
Xảy khi nước người được vững chắc, thì người xử tử những đầy tớ đã giết cha mình.
4 But their children he put not to death; but [did] as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, that the Lord had commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, nor shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
Nhưng người không xử tử các con trai chúng, theo điều đã chép trong sách luật pháp của Môi-se, như Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn rằng: Cha sẽ chẳng phải chết vì con, con cũng sẽ chẳng phải chết vì cha; song mỗi người sẽ chết vì tội mình.
5 And Amazyahu gathered Judah together, and stationed them after the family divisions, after the captains over the thousands, and after the captains over the hundreds, of all Judah and Benjamin; and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them [to be] three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to the army, that could handle spear and shield.
A-ma-xia nhóm những người Giu-đa, cứ theo họ hàng của tổ phụ Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min, mà lập những quan tướng cai ngàn người và cai trăm người; lại tu bộ những người từ hai mươi tuổi sấp lên, số cộng được ba mươi vạn người kén chọn ra trận được cùng có tài cầm giáo và khiên.
6 He hired also out of Israel one hundred thousand mighty men of valor for one hundred talents of silver.
Người cũng mộ mười vạn người mạnh dạn trong Y-sơ-ra-ên, giá một trăm ta lâng bạc.
7 But a man of God came unto him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the Lord is not with Israel, [with] all the children of Ephraim.
Nhưng có người của Đức Chúa Trời đến nói với người rằng: Hỡi vua! đạo binh Y-sơ-ra-ên chớ kéo đi với vua; vì Đức Giê-hô-va chẳng ở cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên, chẳng ở cùng các con cháu Eùp-ra-im.
8 But if thou wilt go, [and be ever so] active [and] strong for the battle: God will cause thee to stumble before the enemy; for there is power with God to help, and to cause to stumble.
Còn nếu vua muốn đi, thì hãy đi đi khá làm cho mình mạnh mẽ mà chinh chiến đi; Đức Chúa Trời sẽ khiến vua ngã trước mặt quân thù; vì Đức Chúa Trời có quyền giúp cho thắng và cũng có quyền làm cho sa bại.
9 Then said Amazyahu to the man of God, But what is it to be done for the hundred talents which I have given to the band of Israel? And the man of God said, The Lord hath [enough in his power] to give thee much more than this.
A-ma-xia nói với người Đức Chúa Trời rằng: Còn về một trăm ta lâng bạc kia, mà ta đã phát cho đạo binh Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì phải làm sao? Người của Đức Chúa Trời đáp: Đức Giê-hô-va có thể ban cho vua nhiều hơn số ấy.
10 Then did Amazyahu separate them, [to wit, ] the band that was come to him out of Ephraim, that they might go to their place: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned to their home in burning anger.
Vậy, A-ma-xia phân rẽ đạo binh đã từ Eùp-ra-im đến cùng người, cho chúng trở về nhà; tại cớ ấy, chúng giận Giu-đa lắm, và trở về nhà lấy làm nóng giận phừng.
11 And Amazyahu strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Se'ir ten thousand [men].
A-ma-xia làm dạn dĩ, kéo dân sự mình đến trũng Muối, đánh một vạn người của dân Sê-i-rơ.
12 And ten thousand did the children of Judah take captive alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were crushed.
Dân Giu-đa bắt sống một vạn người đem chúng nó lên trên chót hòn đá, rồi từ trên chót hòn đá xô chúng nó xuống, thảy đều bị giập chết hết.
13 But the men of the band whom Amazyahu had sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, spread themselves about in the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-choron, and smote of them three thousand [persons], and plundered much spoil.
Còn đạo binh mà A-ma-xia khiến trở về, không cho đi ra trận với mình, thì xông vào các thành Giu-đa, từ Sa-ma-ri cho đến Bết-Hô-rôn, đánh giết ba ngàn người tại đó, và cướp lấy nhiều của cải.
14 And it came to pass, after Amazyahu was come home from smiting the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Se'ir, and set them up unto himself as gods, and before them he used to prostrate himself and unto them he used to burn incense.
Khi A-ma-xia đánh được dân Ê-đôm trở về, thì đem các thần của dân Sê-i-rơ về, lập lên làm thần của mình, quì lạy trước mặt chúng nó, và đốt hương cho.
15 Wherefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Amazyahu, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, that have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?
Vì vậy, cơn thạnh nộ của Đức Giê-hô-va nổi lên cùng A-ma-xia, Ngài sai một đấng tiên tri đến nói với người rằng: Cớ sao ngươi đi cầu các thần không giải cứu được dân tộc thờ lạy chúng nó khỏi tay ngươi?
16 And it came to pass, as he was speaking unto him, that he said unto him, Have we ever appointed thee as a counsellor to the king? forbear this: why shouldst thou be smitten? Then did the prophet forbear; and he said, I know that God hath resolved to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
Xảy khi đấng tiên tri tâu với vua, thì vua bảo người rằng: Ta há lập ngươi làm mưu sĩ cho vua sao? Hãy thôi đi, kẻo ta đánh ngươi chăng Đấng tiên tri bèn thôi, và nói rằng: Tôi biết rằng Đức Giê-hô-va đã quyết định hủy diệt vua, bởi vì vua đã làm điều ấy, và không nghe lời tôi.
17 Then held Amazyahu the king of Judah a council, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoachaz, the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, mưu nghị rồi, thì sai đến Giô-ách, con trai Giô-a-cha, cháu Giê-hu, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà nói rằng: Hãy đến, để chúng ta thấy nhau.
18 And Joash the king of Israel sent to Amazyahu the king of Judah, saying, The thorn-bush that was in the Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in the Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for wife. And there passed along the wild beasts that were in the Lebanon, and trod down the thorn-bush.
Giô-ách, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, sai sứ đến A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, mà nói rằng: Cây gai ở Li-ban có sai đến nói với cây bá hương ở Li-ban rằng: Hãy gả con gái ngươi cho con trai ta làm vợ. Song có một con thú đồng ở Li-ban đi ngang qua, giày đạp cây gai đi.
19 Thou hast thought, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart hath lifted thee up to acquire much glory: now stay in thy house; why wilt thou meddle with misfortune, that thou mayest fall, thou, and Judah with thee?
Ngươi nói: Nầy ta đã đánh Ê-đôm! Lòng ngươi lại tự cao tự khoe. Bây giờ, khá ở trong nhà ngươi, cớ sao làm cho mình mắc họa, và khiến cho ngươi và Giu-đa phải sa ngã?
20 But Amazyahu would not hear; for it was [ordained] by God, in order to deliver them into the hand [of Joash]; because they had sought after the gods of Edom.
A-ma-xia không nghe lời, vì điều đó do ý Đức Chúa Trời, để phó chúng vào tay kẻ thù nghịch, bởi vì chúng có tìm kiếm các thần của Ê-đôm.
21 Thereupon did Joash the king of Israel go up: and they looked one another in the face, he and Amazyahu the king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
Giô-ách, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, kéo lên; người và A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, bèn thấy nhau tại Bết-Sê-mết trong xứ Giu-đa.
22 And Judah was defeated before Israel, and they fled every man to his tents.
Quân Giu-đa bị quân Y-sơ-ra-ên đánh đuổi, bèn chạy trốn, ai về trại nấy.
23 And Joash the king of Israel caught Amazyahu the king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoachaz, at Beth-shemesh; and he brought him to Jerusalem, and made a breach in the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner-gate, four hundred cubits.
Tại Bết-Sê-mết, Giô-ách vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, bắt A-ma-xia, vua Giu-đa, con trai Giô-ách, cháu Giô-a-cha, điệu người về Giê-ru-sa-lem; đoạn người phá vách thành từ cửa Eùp-ra-im cho đến cửa Góc, một khúc dài bốn trăm thước.
24 And [taking] all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with 'Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, and the children of the chiefs as hostages, he returned to Samaria.
Người lấy hết vàng, bạc, và những khí dụng ở trong đền của Đức Chúa Trời, có Ô-bết-Ê-đôm coi giữ, cùng các bửu vật của cung vua; người cũng bắt kẻ cầm làm tin, rồi trở về Sa-ma-ri.
25 And Amazyahu the son of Joash the king of Judah lived after the death of Joash the son of Jehoachaz the king of Israel fifteen years.
A-ma-xia, con trai Giô-ách, vua Giu-đa còn sống mười lăm năm nữa, sau khi Giô-ách, con trai Giô-a-cha, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, đã băng hà.
26 And the rest of the acts of Amazyahu the first and the last, behold, they are fully written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Các công việc khác của A-ma-xia từ đầu đến cuối, đều đã chép trong sách các vua Giu-đa và Y-sơ-ra-ên.
27 Now from the time that Amazyahu departed from following the Lord, they raised a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: wherefore he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
Vả từ khi A-ma-xia xây bỏ Đức Giê-hô-va về sau, thì có người phản nghịch cùng người tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, người bèn chạy trốn đến La-ki; song người ta sai đuổi theo người đến La-ki, và giết người tại đó.
28 And they carried him on horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
Đoạn người ta có chở thây người về trên ngựa, chôn người tại trong thành Giu-đa chung cùng các tổ phụ người.
