2 Chronicles 21
1 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son became king in his stead.
Josafat durmió con sus padres, y fue enterrado con ellos en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Joram reinó en su lugar.
2 And he had brothers the sons of Jehoshaphat: 'Azaryah, and Jechiel, and Zecharyahu, and 'Azaryahu, and Michael, and Shephatyahu, all these being sons of Jehoshaphat the king of Israel.
Tuvo hermanos, los hijos de Josafat: Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Miguel y Sefatías. Todos ellos eran hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.
3 And their father gave them many gifts [consisting] of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the first-born.
Su padre les dio grandes regalos de plata, de oro y de cosas preciosas, con ciudades fortificadas en Judá; pero le dio el reino a Joram, porque era el primogénito.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.
Cuando Joram se alzó sobre el reino de su padre, y se fortaleció, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los príncipes de Israel.
5 Thirty and two years was Jehoram old when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem.
Joram tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as had done the house of Achab; for the daughter of Achab had he for wife: and he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Siguió el camino de los reyes de Israel, al igual que la casa de Ajab, pues tuvo como esposa a la hija de Ajab. Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos del Señor.
7 Yet would the Lord not destroy the house of David, on account of the covenant which he had made with David, and as he had said to give to him a government and to his sons at all times.
Sin embargo, Yahvé no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa de la alianza que había hecho con él, y porque había prometido darle siempre una lámpara a él y a sus hijos.
8 In his days Edom revolted from under the power of Judah, and they appointed a king over themselves.
En sus días Edom se rebeló de la mano de Judá y se hizo un rey sobre ellos.
9 Then did Jehoram go over with his princes, and all the chariots were with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots.
Entonces Joram fue allí con sus capitanes y todos sus carros con él. Se levantó de noche e hirió a los edomitas que lo rodeaban, junto con los capitanes de los carros.
10 Yet Edom revolted from under the power of Judah even until this day: then did Libnah revolt at the same time from under his power; because he had forsaken the Lord the God of his fathers.
Así se rebeló Edom bajo la mano de Judá hasta el día de hoy. También Libna se rebeló al mismo tiempo de debajo de su mano, porque había abandonado a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres.
11 He also made high-places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, and misled Judah.
Además, hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyeran, y desvió a Judá.
12 And there came unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus hath said the Lord the God of David thy father, Inasmuch as thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Assa the king of Judah,
Le llegó una carta del profeta Elías que decía: “Yahvé, el Dios de David, tu padre, dice: ‘Porque no has seguido los caminos de Josafat, tu padre, ni los de Asá, rey de Judá,
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, as the house of Achab hath caused [others] to go astray, and hast also slain thy brothers of thy father's house, who were better than thyself:
sino que has seguido el camino de los reyes de Israel y has hecho que Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyan como lo hizo la casa de Ajab, y también has matado a tus hermanos de la casa de tu padre, que eran mejores que tú,
14 Behold, the Lord will inflict a great plague on thy people, and on thy children, and on thy wives, and on all thy possessions;
he aquí que el Señor golpeará a tu pueblo con una gran plaga, incluyendo a tus hijos, a tus esposas y a todas tus posesiones;
15 And thou shalt be [afflicted] with great diseases by a disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels pass out [from thee] by reason of the disease days upon days.
y tendréis una gran enfermedad de las entrañas, hasta que se os caigan las entrañas a causa de la enfermedad, día tras día.’”
16 And the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that are alongside of the Cushim:
Yahvé despertó contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes que están junto a los etíopes;
17 And they went up against Judah, and made an incursion into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and also his sons, and his wives; and there was not left unto him any son, save Jehoachaz, the youngest of his sons.
y subieron contra Judá, la asaltaron y se llevaron todos los bienes que se encontraban en la casa del rey, incluidos sus hijos y sus mujeres, de modo que no le quedó ningún hijo, excepto Joacaz, el menor de sus hijos.
18 And after all this did the Lord afflict him in his bowels with a disease which was incurable.
Después de todo esto, Yahvé lo hirió en sus entrañas con una enfermedad incurable.
19 And it came to pass, from days to days, and when the [fixed] time was expired, after two years, that his bowels passed out [from him] by reason of his disease: so he died of evil diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning for his fathers.
Con el tiempo, al cabo de dos años, se le cayeron los intestinos a causa de su enfermedad, y murió de graves enfermedades. Su pueblo no le hizo ninguna quema, como la de sus padres.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem, and departed without joy: and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años. Partió sin que nadie lo lamentara. Lo enterraron en la ciudad de David, pero no en las tumbas de los reyes.
