2 Chronicles 20
1 And it came to pass after this, that the children of Moab, and the children of 'Ammon, and with them some of the 'Ammonim, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Și s-a întâmplat de asemenea după aceasta, că au venit copiii lui Moab și copiii lui Amon și cu ei alții în afară de amoniți, împotriva lui Iosafat, la bătălie.
2 And there came some and told unto Jehoshaphat, saying, There is coming against thee a great multitude from beyond the sea, from Syria; and, behold, they are in Chazazon-thamar, which is 'En-gedi.
Atunci au venit câțiva care i-au spus lui Iosafat, zicând: Vine o mare mulțime împotriva ta, de dincolo de mare, de partea aceasta a Siriei; și, iată, ei sunt în Hațațon-Tamar, care este En-Ghedi.
3 Then became Jehoshaphat afraid, and he directed his face to seek the Lord; and he proclaimed a fast over all Judah.
Și Iosafat s-a temut și s-a pus să caute pe DOMNUL și a proclamat un post prin tot Iuda.
4 And [the people of] Judah gathered themselves together, to ask [help] of the Lord: also out of all the cities of Judah did they come to seek the Lord.
Și Iuda s-a strâns împreună să ceară ajutor de la DOMNUL, din toate cetățile lui Iuda au venit să caute pe DOMNUL.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood forward in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court.
Și Iosafat a stat în picioare în adunarea lui Iuda și Ierusalim, în casa DOMNULUI, înaintea curții noi,
6 And he said, O Lord, the God of our fathers, thou art God in the heavens, and thou rulest over all the kingdoms of the nations; and in thy hand are the power and might, and there is none that can withstand thee.
Și a spus: DOAMNE Dumnezeul părinților noștri, nu ești tu Dumnezeu în cer? Și nu domnești peste toate împărățiile păgânilor? Și nu este în mâna ta putere și tărie, astfel încât nimeni nu este în stare să ți se împotrivească?
7 Behold, it is thou, O our God, who hast driven out the inhabitants of this land from before thy people Israel; and thou gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend to eternity.
Nu ești tu Dumnezeul nostru, care ai alungat pe locuitorii acestei țări dinaintea poporului tău, Israel, și ai dat-o seminței lui Avraam, prietenul tău, pentru totdeauna?
8 And they have dwelt therein, and have built for thee therein a sanctuary for thy name, saying,
Și au locuit în ea și ți-au construit în ea un sanctuar pentru numele tău, spunând:
9 If there should come over us any evil, the sword, punishment, or pestilence, or famine, [then] will we stand before this house, and in thy presence, for thy name is in this house, and we will cry unto thee out of our distress, and thou wilt hear and help.
Când răul vine peste noi, ca sabia, judecata sau ciuma sau foametea, dacă noi stăm înaintea acestei case și în prezența ta (fiindcă numele tău este în această casă) și strigăm către tine în nenorocirea noastră, atunci tu vei asculta și vei ajuta.
10 And now, behold, the children of 'Ammon and Moab and mount Se'ir, against whom thou wouldst not suffer Israel to come, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not: —
Și acum, iată, copiii lui Amon și ai lui Moab și ai celor din muntele Seir, împotriva cărora nu ai lăsat pe Israel să lupte când au ieșit din țara Egiptului, ci s-au abătut de la ei și nu i-au nimicit;
11 And behold, they recompense us, by coming to drive us out of thy inheritance, which thou hast given us to possess.
Iată, spun, cum ne răsplătesc, să vină și să ne arunce din stăpânirea ta, pe care ne-ai dat-o să o moștenim.
12 O our God, wilt thou not execute justice on them? for there is no power in us against this great multitude that is coming against us; and we indeed know not what we are to do: but upon thee are our eyes [directed].
O Dumnezeul nostru, nu îi vei judeca? Fiindcă nu avem putere împotriva acestei mari cete care vine împotriva noastră; nici nu știm ce să facem, dar ochii noștri sunt la tine.
13 And all Judah were standing before the Lord, also their little ones, their wives, and their sons.
Și tot Iuda a stat în picioare înaintea DOMNULUI, cu micuții lor, soțiile lor și copiii lor.
14 And upon Jachaziel the son of Zecharyahu, the son of Benayah, the son of Je'iel, the son of Matthanyah, the Levite, of the sons of Assaph, came the spirit of the Lord in the midst of the assembly;
Atunci a venit Duhul DOMNULUI în mijlocul adunării peste Iahaziel, fiul lui Zaharia, fiul lui Benaia, fiul lui Ieiel, fiul lui Matania, un levit dintre fiii lui Asaf;
15 And he said, Listen ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus hath said the Lord unto you, Be ye not afraid and be not dismayed because of this great multitude; for not unto you belongeth the battle, but unto God.
Și el a spus: Dați ascultare, tot Iuda și voi locuitori ai Ierusalimului și tu, împărate Iosafat. Astfel vă spune DOMNUL: Nu vă înfricoșați, nici nu vă descurajați din cauza acestei mari mulțimi, fiindcă bătălia nu este a voastră, ci a lui Dumnezeu.
16 Tomorrow go ye down against them behold, they come up by the ascent of Ziz; and ye will find them at the end of the valley, in front of the wilderness of Jeruel.
Mâine să coborâți împotriva lor; iată, ei urcă urcușul din Țiț; și îi veți găsi la capătul pârâului, înaintea pustiului lui Ieruel.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this place: stand firmly, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, and be not dismayed; tomorrow go out to meet them, and the Lord will be with you.
Nu va fi nevoie să luptați în această bătălie; așezați-vă, stați liniștiți și vedeți salvarea DOMNULUI pe care v-o va da; O, Iuda și Ierusalim, nu vă temeți, nici nu vă descurajați; mâine ieșiți împotriva lor, fiindcă DOMNUL va fi cu voi.
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, to prostrate themselves unto the Lord.
Și Iosafat și-a plecat capul cu fața la pământ; și tot Iuda și locuitorii Ierusalimului au căzut înaintea DOMNULUI, închinându-se DOMNULUI.
19 And then arose the Levites, of the children of the Kehathites, and of the children of the Korehites, to praise the Lord the God of Israel with a very loud voice.
Și leviții, dintre copiii chehatiților și dintre copiii coreiților, au stat în picioare să laude pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel cu voce tare.
20 And they rose up early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Thekoa': and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood forward and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; believe in the Lord your God, and ye will have permanence; believe his prophets, and ye will prosper.
Și s-au ridicat devreme dimineața și au ieșit în pustiul din Tecoa; și cum au ieșit, Iosafat a stat în picioare și a spus: Ascultați-mă, Iuda și voi locuitori ai Ierusalimului; Credeți în DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru, astfel veți fi voi întemeiați; credeți pe profeții lui, astfel veți prospera.
21 And he consulted with his people, and he appointed singers unto the Lord, and those that should praise in the holy ornaments, as they went out before the armed array, and said, Give thanks unto the Lord; for unto everlasting endureth his kindness.
Și după ce s-a sfătuit cu poporul, a rânduit cântăreți DOMNULUI și pe cei care să laude frumusețea sfințeniei; și pe când ieșeau înaintea armatei, spuneau: Lăudați pe DOMNUL, fiindcă mila lui dăinuiește pentru totdeauna.
22 And at the time when they began with the song and the praise, the Lord set an ambush against the children of 'Ammon, Moab, and mount Se'ir, who were come against Judah, and they were smitten.
Și când au început să cânte și să laude, DOMNUL a pus pânde împotriva copiilor lui Amon, lui Moab și a celor din muntele Seir, care veniseră împotriva lui Iuda; și au fost loviți.
23 And the children of 'Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Se'ir, utterly to annihilate and to destroy them; and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Se'ir, they helped to destroy one another.
Căci copiii lui Amon și ai lui Moab s-au ridicat împotriva locuitorilor muntelui Seir, să îi ucidă și să îi nimicească în întregime; și când au terminat cu locuitorii din Seir, fiecare a ajutat pentru a nimici pe altul.
24 And when Judah came toward the watchtower in the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none had escaped.
Și când Iuda a venit spre turnul de veghe în pustiu, s-au uitat la mulțime și, iată, ei erau trupuri moarte căzute la pământ și nimeni nu a scăpat.
25 And then came Jehoshaphat and his people to plunder their booty, and they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies, and costly vessels, which they stript off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in plundering the booty, for it was so much.
Și când Iosafat și poporul său au venit să ia prada de la ei, au găsit printre ei din abundență, deopotrivă bogății la trupurile moarte și bijuterii prețioase, pe care le-au smuls de pe ei, mai mult decât puteau duce și au fost trei zile în strângerea prăzii, atât era de multă.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the Lord: therefore did they call the name of this place, The valley of Berachah [[Blessing]], until this day.
Și în a patra zi s-au adunat în valea lui Beraca, pentru că acolo au binecuvântat pe DOMNUL, de aceea numele acelui loc este chemat: Valea lui Beraca, până în această zi.
27 Then returned all the men of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat at their head, to return to Jerusalem with joy; for the Lord had caused them to rejoice over their enemies.
Apoi s-au întors, fiecare om din Iuda și Ierusalim și Iosafat în fruntea lor, să meargă din nou la Ierusalim cu bucurie, fiindcă DOMNUL îi făcuse să se bucure de dușmanii lor.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and with harps and with trumpets unto the house of the Lord.
Și au venit la Ierusalim cu psalterioane și harpe și trâmbițe până la casa DOMNULUI.
29 And a dread from God was on all the kingdoms of [those] countries, when they heard that the Lord had fought with the enemies of Israel.
Și frica de DOMNUL era în toate împărățiile acestor țări, când au auzit că DOMNUL a luptat împotriva dușmanilor lui Israel.
30 So the kingdom of Jehoshaphat had repose, and his God gave him rest all round about.
Astfel împărăția lui Iosafat era liniștită, pentru că Dumnezeul lui i-a dat odihnă de jur împrejur.
31 And [so] did Jehoshaphat reign over Judah; thirty and five years old was he when he became king, and twenty and five years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was 'Azubah the daughter of Shilchi.
Și Iosafat a domnit peste Iuda și era în vârstă de treizeci și cinci de ani când a început să domnească; și a domnit douăzeci și cinci de ani în Ierusalim. Și numele mamei lui era Azuba, fiica lui Șilhi.
32 And he walked in the way of his father Assa, and turned not aside from it, doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
Și a umblat în calea lui Asa, tatăl său, și nu s-a depărtat de ea, făcând ceea ce era drept înaintea ochilor DOMNULUI.
33 Nevertheless the high-places were not removed; for the people had not yet directed their heart firmly unto the God of their fathers.
Totuși, înălțimile nu au fost îndepărtate, căci poporul încă nu și-a îndreptat inima către Dumnezeul părinților lor.
34 And the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Chanani, which was entered into the book of the kings of Israel.
Și restul faptelor lui Iosafat, cele dintâi și cele din urmă, iată, sunt scrise în cartea lui Iehu, fiul lui Hanani, care este menționat în cartea împăraților lui Israel.
35 And after this did Jehoshaphat the king of Judah connect himself with Achazyah the king of Israel, the same who acted very wickedly;
Și, după aceasta, Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda, s-a alăturat lui Ahazia, împăratul lui Israel, care s-a purtat foarte stricat;
36 And he connected himself with him to make ships to go to Tharshish: and they made ships in 'Ezyon-geber.
Și s-a alăturat lui pentru a face corăbii ca să meargă la Tarsis; și au făcut corăbiile în Ețion-Gheber.
37 Then prophesied Eli'ezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast connected thyself with Achazyahu, the Lord hath broken down thy works. And the ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go to Tharshish.
Atunci Eliezer, fiul lui Dodava, din Mareșa, a profețit împotriva lui Iosafat, spunând: Deoarece te-ai alăturat lui Ahazia, DOMNUL a frânt lucrările tale. Și corăbiile au fost frânte, încât nu au fost în stare să meargă la Tarsis.
