2 Chronicles 18
1 And Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and he intermarried with Achab.
യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന് സമ്പത്തും ബഹുമതിയും വളരെ വർധിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം വിവാഹബന്ധത്തിലൂടെ ആഹാബുമായി സഖ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.
2 And he went down after [some] years to Achab to Samaria. And Achab killed for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people that were with him, and persuaded him to go up to Ramoth-gil'ad.
ചില വർഷങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം ആഹാബിനെ സന്ദർശിക്കുന്നതിനായി അദ്ദേഹം ശമര്യയിലേക്കുചെന്നു. ആഹാബ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും കൂടെയുള്ള ആളുകൾക്കുംവേണ്ടി അനേകം ആടുകളെയും കാളകളെയും അറത്തു. അതിനുശേഷം ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് ആക്രമിക്കുന്നതിന് തന്നോടൊപ്പം ചെല്ലാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.
3 Then said Achab the king of Israel unto Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me against Ramoth-gil'ad! And he said to him, I [will be] like thee, and my people [shall be] as thy people; and we will be with thee in the battle.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബ് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനായി അങ്ങയും എന്റെകൂടെ വരാമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് മറുപടികൊടുത്തു: “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ; എന്റെ ജനം അങ്ങയുടെ ജനത്തെപ്പോലെതന്നെ. ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം യുദ്ധത്തിനു പോരാം.”
4 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, today [first] of the word of the Lord.
യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തുടർന്നു: “എന്നാൽ, ഒന്നാമതായി നമുക്ക് യഹോവയോട് അരുളപ്പാട് ചോദിക്കാം.”
5 Then did the king of Israel assemble the prophets, four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, and God will deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ ഒരുമിച്ചു വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി അവരോട്: “ഞങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിനുപോകയോ, അഥവാ, പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “പോയാലും! ദൈവം അതിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതരും,” എന്ന് അവർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
6 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Eternal besides, that we might inquire of him?
എന്നാൽ, യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ആഹാബിനോടു: “നാം ദൈവഹിതം അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിനായി ഇവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായി മറ്റാരുമില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
7 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him; for he never prophesieth any good concerning me, but at all times evil: it is Michayhu the son of Yimla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “നാം യഹോവയുടെഹിതം ആരായേണ്ടതിനായി യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവ് എന്നൊരാൾകൂടി ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്; പക്ഷേ, അയാൾ എന്നെപ്പറ്റി തിന്മയായുള്ളതല്ലാതെ, നന്മയായി ഒരിക്കലും പ്രവചിക്കാറില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ അയാളെ വെറുക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “രാജാവ് അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ,” എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ആഹാബിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
8 Then called the king of Israel a certain court-officer, and said, “Hasten hither Michayhu the son of Yimla.”
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരിൽ ഒരാളോട്, “വേഗത്തിൽ യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക” എന്നു കൽപ്പന നൽകി.
9 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, dressed in their royal garments, and they were sitting in a threshing-floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria: and all the prophets prophesied before them.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജകീയ വേഷധാരികളായി അവരവരുടെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ ശമര്യയുടെ കവാടത്തിനുവെളിയിൽ ധാന്യം മെതിക്കുന്ന വിശാലമായ ഒരു മൈതാനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പ്രവാചകന്മാരെല്ലാം അവരുടെമുമ്പിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10 And Zedekiah the son of Kena'anah had made himself horns of iron; and he said, Thus hath said the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians until thou have made an end of them.
കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവ് ഇരുമ്പുകൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പുകളുണ്ടാക്കി, “‘ഇതുകൊണ്ട് നീ അരാമ്യരെ ആക്രമിച്ച് അവരെ കുത്തിക്കീറിക്കളയും’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up against Ramoth-gil'ad, and prosper, and the Lord will deliver it into the king's hand.
മറ്റു പ്രവാചകന്മാരും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചു: “രാമോത്തിലെ ഗിലെയാദിനെ ആക്രമിക്കുക! വിജയിയാകുക! യഹോവ അതിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കും.”
12 And the messenger that went to call Michayhu spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets are with one voice good for the king: so do let thy word, I pray thee, be like [that of] any one of them, and speak something good.
മീഖായാവെ ആനയിക്കാൻപോയ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “നോക്കൂ, മറ്റു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെല്ലാം ഏകകണ്ഠമായി രാജാവിനു വിജയം പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങയുടെ പ്രവചനവും അവരുടേതുപോലെ രാജാവിന് അനുകൂലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13 And Michayhu said, As the Lord liveth, truly what my God may say, that will I speak.
എന്നാൽ മീഖായാവ്: “ജീവിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണെ, ദൈവം എന്നോട് എന്ത് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നോ അതുതന്നെ ഞാൻ പ്രസ്താവിക്കും” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Michah, shall we go to Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and may they be delivered into your hand.
മീഖായാവു രാജസന്നിധിയിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “മീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനു പുറപ്പെടണമോ അഥവാ, ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെടാതിരിക്കണമോ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. മീഖായാവു പരിഹാസത്തോടെ മറുപടികൊടുത്തു: “ആക്രമിക്കുക! വിജയം വരിക്കുക! അവർ നിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെടും.”
15 And the king said to him, How many times yet must I adjure thee that thou shalt not speak to me any thing but the truth in the name of the Lord?
രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ, എന്നോടു സത്യമല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും പറയരുതെന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ട് എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം ശപഥംചെയ്യിക്കണം?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
16 Then said he, I saw all Israel scattered over the mountains, as flocks that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.
അപ്പോൾ മീഖായാവു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇസ്രായേൽസൈന്യം ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ മലമുകളിൽ ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാൻ ദർശനത്തിൽ കണ്ടു. ‘ഈ ജനത്തിനു നായകനില്ല; ഓരോരുത്തനും സമാധാനത്തോടെ ഭവനങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോകട്ടെ’ എന്ന് യഹോവ കൽപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.”
17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not say unto thee that he would not prophesy concerning me any good, but [only] for evil?
അപ്പോൾ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് ദോഷമായതല്ലാതെ, നന്മയായുള്ളത് യാതൊന്നും പ്രവചിക്കുകയില്ലെന്ന് ഞാൻ അങ്ങയോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
18 And he said, Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right and his left.
മീഖായാവു തുടർന്നു പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്നാൽ, യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. യഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നതും തന്റെ സകലസ്വർഗീയസൈന്യവും അവിടത്തെ വലത്തും ഇടത്തുമായി അണിനിരന്നുനിൽക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ ദർശിച്ചു.
19 And the Lord said, Who will persuade Achab the king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gil'ad? And one said—one saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ, ‘ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബ് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽച്ചെന്ന്, യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടുംവിധം അതിനെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നതിലേക്ക് ആര് അവനെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിക്കും?’ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ചിലർ ഇത്തരത്തിലും മറ്റുചിലർ മറ്റൊരുതരത്തിലും തങ്ങളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
20 Then came there forth a spirit, and placed himself before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith?
എന്നാൽ, അവസാനം ഒരാത്മാവ് മുൻപോട്ടുവന്നു യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: ‘ഞാൻ അവനെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിക്കും.’ “‘എങ്ങനെ?’ എന്ന് യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചു.
21 And he said, I will go forth, and I will become a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou wilt persuade him, and also prevail: go forth, and do so.
“‘ഞാൻ ചെന്ന് അയാളുടെ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും അധരങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാജത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കും’ എന്ന് ആ ആത്മാവ് മറുപടി നൽകി. “അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: ‘അവനെ വശീകരിക്കുന്നതിൽ നീ വിജയിക്കും; നീ പോയി അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുക!’ എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
22 And now, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets: but the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
“അങ്ങനെ, യഹോവ ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ഈ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാജത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. യഹോവ നിനക്കു നാശം നിർണയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
23 And Zedekiah the son of Kena'anah went near, and struck Michayhu on the cheek, and said, Which is the way the Spirit of the Lord passed away from me to speak with thee?
അപ്പോൾ, കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവ് മുൻപോട്ടുചെന്ന് മീഖായാവിന്റെ മുഖത്തടിച്ചു. “യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് എന്നെവിട്ടു നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കാൻ ഏതുവഴിയായി വന്നു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
24 And Michayhu said, Behold, thou shalt see it on that day when thou shalt go into the innermost chamber to hide thyself.
“ഒരു രഹസ്യ അറയിൽ ഒളിക്കാൻ പോകുന്നനാളിൽ നീ അതു കണ്ടെത്തും,” എന്നു മീഖായാവു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
25 And the king of Israel said, Take ye Michayhu, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
അതിനുശേഷം ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ്: “മീഖായാവിനെ നഗരാധിപനായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കൽ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുക.
26 And say ye, Thus hath said the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with sparing bread and with sparing water, until I return in peace.
‘അവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലടയ്ക്കുകയും ഞാൻ സുരക്ഷിതനായി മടങ്ങിവരുന്നതുവരെ അപ്പവും വെള്ളവുംമാത്രം കൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക എന്നതാണ് രാജാവിന്റെ ഉത്തരവ്,’ എന്ന് അവനോടു പറയുക” എന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു.
27 And Michayhu said, If thou return at all in peace, then hath the Lord not spoken through me. And he said, Hear it, O all ye nations!
അപ്പോൾ മീഖായാവ്, “അങ്ങു സുരക്ഷിതനായി മടങ്ങിവരുമെങ്കിൽ യഹോവ എന്നിലൂടെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. “ഈ ജനമെല്ലാം, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കുറിച്ചിട്ടുകൊള്ളട്ടെ!” എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
28 And the king of Israel went up with Jehoshaphat the king of Judah to Ramoth-gil'ad.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
29 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but do thou put on thy royal garments. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into the battle.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഞാൻ വേഷപ്രച്ഛന്നനായി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ, അങ്ങ് രാജകീയ വേഷം ധരിച്ചാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് വേഷപ്രച്ഛന്നനായി യുദ്ധരംഗത്തു പ്രവേശിച്ചു.
30 And the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that he had, saying, Fight ye not with the small or with the great, save only with the king of Israel alone.
എന്നാൽ, “ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവനോ വലിയവനോ ആയ മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്യരുത്,” എന്ന് അരാംരാജാവ് തന്റെ രഥനായകന്മാർക്ക് ആജ്ഞ നൽകിയിരുന്നു.
31 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, This is the king of Israel. And they encompassed him to fight; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God induced them to go away from him.
രഥനായകന്മാർ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, “ഇതാണ് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ്” എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആക്രമിക്കാനായിത്തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ, അദ്ദേഹം നിലവിളിക്കുകയും യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ദൈവം അവരെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് അകറ്റിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from following him.
അത് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാർ ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിൻതുടരുന്നത് അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
33 But a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints and the armor: wherefore he said to the chariot-driver, Turn about, and carry me out of the camp; for I am wounded.
എന്നാൽ ഏതോ ഒരു അരാമ്യപടയാളി യാദൃച്ഛികമായി വില്ലുകുലച്ച് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ കവചത്തിന്റെ വിടവുകൾക്കിടയിൽ എയ്തു. “രഥം തിരിച്ച് എന്നെ യുദ്ധക്കളത്തിനു വെളിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകുക; എനിക്കു സാരമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നു രാജാവു തേരാളിയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
34 And the battle increased on that day: and the king of Israel stayed [himself] up in the chariot against the Syrians until the evening, and he died at the time of the sun's going down.
അന്നുമുഴുവൻ യുദ്ധം അത്യുഗ്രമായിത്തുടർന്നു. സന്ധ്യവരെ ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് അരാമ്യർക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായി തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽ ചാരി നിവർന്നുനിന്നു. സൂര്യാസ്തമയത്തിൽ അയാൾ മരിച്ചുവീണു.
