2 Chronicles 16
1 In the six-and-thirtieth year of the reign of Assa, came up Ba'sha the king of Israel against Judah, and built Kamah, in order not to suffer any one to go out or come in to Assa the king of Judah.
Εν τω τριακοστώ έκτω έτει της βασιλείας του Ασά, ο Βαασά βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ ανέβη εναντίον του Ιούδα και ωκοδόμησε την Ραμά, διά να μη αφίνη μηδένα να εξέρχηται μηδέ να εισέρχηται προς τον Ασά βασιλέα του Ιούδα.
2 Then did Assa bring out silver and gold out of the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king's house, and sent [them] to Ben-hadad the king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,
Τότε ο Ασά εξέφερεν αργύριον και χρυσίον εκ των θησαυρών του οίκου του Κυρίου και του οίκου του βασιλέως, και απέστειλε προς τον Βεν-αδάδ βασιλέα της Συρίας, κατοικούντα εν Δαμασκώ, λέγων,
3 A covenant is between me and thee, as between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Ba'sha the king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.
Ας γείνη συνθήκη αναμέσον εμού και σου, ως ήτο και αναμέσον του πατρός μου και του πατρός σου· ιδού, απέστειλα προς σε αργύριον και χρυσίον· ύπαγε, διάλυσον την συνθήκην σου την προς Βαασά βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, διά να αναχωρήση απ' εμού.
4 And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Assa, and sent the captains of the armies that he had against the cities of Israel, and they smote 'Iyon, and Dan, and Abel-mayim, and all the treasure-cities of Naphtali.
Και εισήκουσεν ο Βεν-αδάδ εις τον βασιλέα Ασά, και απέστειλε τους αρχηγούς των δυνάμεων αυτού εναντίον των πόλεων του Ισραήλ· και επάταξαν την Ιϊών και την Δαν και την Αβέλ-μαΐμ και πάσας τας αποθήκας των πόλεων Νεφθαλί.
5 And it came to pass, when Ba'sha heard this, that he left off the building of Ramah, and stopped his work.
Και ως ήκουσεν ο Βαασά, έπαυσε να οικοδομή την Ραμά και κατέλιπε το έργον αυτού.
6 And king Assa took then all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, wherewith Ba'sha had built; and he built therewith Geba' and Mizpah.
Και παρέλαβεν ο βασιλεύς Ασά πάντα τον Ιούδαν, και εσήκωσαν τους λίθους της Ραμά και τα ξύλα αυτής, με τα οποία ωκοδόμει ο Βαασά· και με ταύτα ωκοδόμησε την Γαβαά και την Μισπά.
7 And at that time came Chanani the seer to Assa the king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on the Lord thy God: therefore is the army of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hands.
Κατ' εκείνον δε τον καιρόν Ανανί ο βλέπων ήλθε προς Ασά τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα και είπε προς αυτόν, Επειδή επεστηρίχθης επί τον βασιλέα της Συρίας και δεν επεστηρίχθης επί Κύριον τον Θεόν σου, διά τούτο εξέφυγε το στράτευμα του βασιλέως της Συρίας από της χειρός σου·
8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a numerous army, with chariots and horsemen in great abundance? yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, he gave them up into thy hand.
οι Αιθίοπες και οι Λίβυες δεν ήσαν στράτευμα μέγα, μετά πολυαρίθμων αμαξών και ιππέων; επειδή όμως επεστηρίχθης εις τον Κύριον, παρέδωκεν αυτούς εις την χείρα σου·
9 For as regardeth the Lord, his eyes roam throughout the whole earth, to hold strongly with those whose heart is entire toward him: thou hast done foolishly for this reason; because from this time forth there will be wars with thee.
διότι οι οφθαλμοί του Κυρίου περιτρέχουσι διά πάσης της γης, διά να δειχθή δυνατός υπέρ των εχόντων την καρδίαν αυτών τελείαν προς αυτόν· εις τούτο έπραξας αφρόνως· διά τούτο θέλεις έχει πολέμους εις το εξής.
10 Then became Assa incensed toward the seer, and put him in a prison-house; for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Assa oppressed some of the people at the same time.
Και ωργίσθη ο Ασά κατά του βλέποντος και έβαλεν αυτόν εις φυλακήν· διότι ηγανάκτησεν εναντίον αυτού διά τούτο. Και κατέθλιψεν ο Ασά τινάς εκ του λαού εν εκείνω τω καιρώ.
11 And, behold, the acts of Assa, the first and the last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Και ιδού, αι πράξεις του Ασά, αι πρώται και αι έσχαται, ιδού, είναι γεγραμμέναι εν τω βιβλίω των βασιλέων του Ιούδα και του Ισραήλ.
12 And Assa became sick in the thirty-and-ninth year of his reign in his feet, his disease being exceedingly severe: yet even in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but [applied] to the physicians.
Ηρρώστησε δε ο Ασά τους πόδας αυτού εν τω τριακοστώ εννάτω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, εωσού η αρρωστία αυτού έγεινε μεγίστη· αλλ' ουδέ εν τη αρρωστία αυτού εξεζήτησε τον Κύριον, αλλά τους ιατρούς.
13 And Assa slept with his fathers, and died in the one-and-fortieth year of his reign.
Και εκοιμήθη ο Ασά μετά των πατέρων αυτού· και απέθανεν εν τω τεσσαρακοστώ πρώτω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού.
14 And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had dug for himself in the city of David, and they laid him in the couch which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices mixed by the apothecary's art; and they made for him a burning uncommonly great.
Και έθαψαν αυτόν εις τον τάφον αυτού, τον οποίον έσκαψε δι' εαυτόν εν πόλει Δαβίδ, και έθεσαν αυτόν επί κλίνης πλήρους ευωδίας και διαφόρων αρωμάτων μυρεψικών· και έκαμον εις αυτόν καύσιν μεγάλην σφόδρα.
