2 Chronicles 11
1 And when Rehobo'am was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring back the kingdom again to Rehobo'am.
Και ελθών ο Ροβοάμ εις Ιερουσαλήμ, συνήθροισε τον οίκον Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν, εκατόν ογδοήκοντα χιλιάδας εκλεκτών πολεμιστών, διά να πολεμήσωσι κατά του Ισραήλ, όπως επαναφέρωσι την βασιλείαν εις τον Ροβοάμ.
2 But the word of the Lord came unto Shema'yahu the man of God, saying,
Έγεινεν όμως λόγος Κυρίου προς τον Σεμαΐαν, άνθρωπον του Θεού, λέγων,
3 Say unto Rehobo'am the son of Solomon, the king of Judah and Benjamin, saying,
Λάλησον προς Ροβοάμ τον υιόν του Σολομώντος, τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, και προς πάντα τον Ισραήλ εν Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν, λέγων,
4 Thus hath said the Lord, Ye shall not go up, nor fight with your brethren: return every man to his house; for from me hath this thing been brought about. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and returned from going against Jerobo'am.
Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Δεν θέλετε αναβή ουδέ πολεμήσει εναντίον των αδελφών σας· επιστρέψατε έκαστος εις τον οίκον αυτού, διότι παρ' εμού έγεινε το πράγμα τούτο. Και υπήκουσαν εις τους λόγους του Κυρίου και απεστράφησαν από του να υπάγωσι κατά του Ιεροβοάμ.
5 And Rehobo'am dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities as fortresses in Judah.
Και κατώκησεν ο Ροβοάμ εν Ιερουσαλήμ και ωκοδόμησε πόλεις οχυράς εν Ιούδα.
6 He built, namely, Beth-lechem, and 'Etam, and Thekoa'.
Και ωκοδόμησε την Βηθλεέμ και την Ητάμ και την Θεκουέ
7 And Beth-zur, and Socho, and 'Adullam,
και την Βαιθ-σούρ και την Σοκχώ και την Οδολλάμ
8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
και την Γαθ και την Μαρησά και την Ζιφ
9 And Adorayim and Lachish, and 'Azekah,
και την Αδωραΐμ και την Λαχείς και την Αζηκά
10 And Zor'ah, and Ayalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
και την Σαραά και την Αιαλών και την Χεβρών, αίτινες είναι εν Ιούδα και εν Βενιαμίν, πόλεις ωχυρωμέναι.
11 And he strengthened the strong-holds, and put commanders in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine;
Και ωχύρωσε τα φρούρια, και έβαλεν εις αυτά φρουράρχους και αποθήκας τροφών και ελαίου και οίνου.
12 And in each and every city [he placed] shields and spears, and made them exceedingly strong: and thus remained with him Judah and Benjamin.
Και εις πάσαν πόλιν έβαλεν ασπίδας και λόγχας, και ωχύρωσεν αυτάς πολύ σφόδρα. Και ήσαν υπ' αυτόν ο Ιούδας και ο Βενιαμίν.
13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel presented themselves to him out of all their territory.
Και οι ιερείς και οι Λευΐται οι εν παντί τω Ισραήλ συνήχθησαν προς αυτόν, εκ πάντων των ορίων αυτών.
14 For the Levites left their open districts and their possession, and went to Judah and Jerusalem; because Jerobo'am and his sons cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the Lord,
Διότι οι Λευΐται εγκατέλιπον τα προάστεια αυτών και τας ιδιοκτησίας αυτών, και ήλθον εις τον Ιούδαν και εις την Ιερουσαλήμ· επειδή ο Ιεροβοάμ και οι υιοί αυτού είχον αποβάλει αυτούς από του να ιερατεύωσιν εις τον Κύριον·
15 And [because] he ordained for himself priests for the high-places, and for the evil spirits, and for the calves which he had made.
και κατέστησεν εις εαυτόν ιερείς διά τους υψηλούς τόπους και διά τους δαίμονας και διά τους μόσχους, τους οποίους έκαμε·
16 And after them [came] out of all the tribes of Israel such as directed their heart to seek the Lord the God of Israel: these came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord, the God of their fathers.
και μετ' αυτούς, όσοι εκ πασών των φυλών του Ισραήλ έδωκαν τας καρδίας αυτών εις το να ζητώσι Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ, ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ, διά να θυσιάσωσιν εις Κύριον τον Θεόν των πατέρων αυτών.
17 And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and brought power to Rehobo'am, the son of Solomon, during three years; for they walked in the way of David and Solomon during three years.
Και κατίσχυσαν την βασιλείαν του Ιούδα και ισχυροποίησαν τον Ροβοάμ τον υιόν του Σολομώντος, τρία έτη· διότι τρία έτη περιεπάτησαν εν τη οδώ του Δαβίδ και του Σολομώντος.
18 And Rehobo'am took himself as wife Machalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, [and] Abichayil the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
Έλαβε δε ο Ροβοάμ εις εαυτόν γυναίκα την Μαελέθ, θυγατέρα του Ιεριμώθ υιού του Δαβίδ, και την Αβιχαίλ, θυγατέρα του Ελιάβ υιού του Ιεσσαί·
19 And she bore to him sons: Je'ush, and Shamaryah, and Zaham.
ήτις εγέννησεν εις αυτόν υιούς, τον Ιεούς και τον Σαμαρίαν και τον Ζαάμ.
20 And after her did he take Ma'achah the daughter of Abshalom; and she bore to him Abiyah, and 'Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Και μετ' αυτήν έλαβε την Μααχά θυγατέρα του Αβεσσαλώμ, ήτις εγέννησεν εις αυτόν τον Αβιά και τον Ατθαΐ και τον Ζιζά και τον Σελωμείθ.
21 And Rehobo'am loved Ma'achah the daughter of Abshalom more than all his wives and his concubines; for he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines; and he begat twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.
Και ηγάπησεν ο Ροβοάμ την Μααχά θυγατέρα του Αβεσσαλώμ υπέρ πάσας τας γυναίκας αυτού και τας παλλακάς αυτού· διότι έλαβε δεκαοκτώ γυναίκας και εξήκοντα παλλακάς· και εγέννησεν εικοσιοκτώ υιούς και εξήκοντα θυγατέρας·
22 And Rehobo'am appointed Abiyah the son of Ma'achah to be the chief, to be ruler among his brethren; because [he desired] to make him king.
και κατέστησεν ο Ροβοάμ άρχοντα τον Αβιά τον υιόν της Μααχά, διά να άρχη επί τους αδελφούς αυτού· διότι εστοχάζετο να κάμη αυτόν βασιλέα·
23 And he dealt understandingly, and dispersed all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto all the fortified cities; and he gave them food in abundance and he required [for them] a multitude of wives.
και ποιών φρονίμως διέσπειρε πάντας τους υιούς αυτού εις πάντας τους τόπους Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν, εις πάσαν οχυράν πόλιν· και έδωκεν εις αυτούς τροφάς εν αφθονία και εζήτησε πολλάς γυναίκας.
