2 Chronicles 11
1 And when Rehobo'am was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring back the kingdom again to Rehobo'am.
Da Rehabeam var kommet til Jerusalem, samlede han hele Judas og Benjamins Hus, 180 000 udsøgte Folk, øvede Krigere, til at føre Krig med Israel og vinde Kongedømmet tilbage til Rehabeam.
2 But the word of the Lord came unto Shema'yahu the man of God, saying,
Men da kom HERRENS Ord til den Guds Mand Sjemaja saaledes:
3 Say unto Rehobo'am the son of Solomon, the king of Judah and Benjamin, saying,
»Sig til Judas Konge Rehabeam, Salomos Søn, og til hele Israel i Juda og Benjamin:
4 Thus hath said the Lord, Ye shall not go up, nor fight with your brethren: return every man to his house; for from me hath this thing been brought about. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and returned from going against Jerobo'am.
Saa siger HERREN: I maa ikke drage op og kæmpe med eders Brødre; vend hjem hver til sit, thi hvad her er sket, har jeg tilskikket!« Da adlød de HERRENS Ord og vendte tilbage og drog ikke mod Jeroboam.
5 And Rehobo'am dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities as fortresses in Judah.
Rehabeam boede saa i Jerusalem, og han befæstede flere Byer i Juda.
6 He built, namely, Beth-lechem, and 'Etam, and Thekoa'.
Saaledes befæstede han Betlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
7 And Beth-zur, and Socho, and 'Adullam,
Bet-Zur, Soko, Adullam,
8 And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
Gat, Maresja, Zif,
9 And Adorayim and Lachish, and 'Azekah,
Adorajim, Lakisj, Azeka,
10 And Zor'ah, and Ayalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
Zor'a, Ajjalon og Hebron, alle i Juda og Benjamin;
11 And he strengthened the strong-holds, and put commanders in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine;
og han gjorde Fæstningerne stærke, indsatte Befalingsmænd i dem og forsynede dem med Forraad af Levnedsmidler, Olie og Vin
12 And in each and every city [he placed] shields and spears, and made them exceedingly strong: and thus remained with him Judah and Benjamin.
og hver enkelt By med Skjolde og Spyd og gjorde dem saaledes meget stærke. Ham tilhørte Juda og Benjamin.
13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel presented themselves to him out of all their territory.
Præsterne og Leviterne i hele Israel kom alle Vegne fra, hvor de boede, og stillede sig til hans Tjeneste;
14 For the Levites left their open districts and their possession, and went to Judah and Jerusalem; because Jerobo'am and his sons cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the Lord,
thi Leviterne forlod deres Græsmarker og Ejendom og begav sig til Juda og Jerusalem, fordi Jeroboam og hans Sønner afsatte dem fra Stillingen som HERRENS Præster,
15 And [because] he ordained for himself priests for the high-places, and for the evil spirits, and for the calves which he had made.
idet han indsatte sig Præster for Offerhøjene og Bukketroldene og Tyrekalvene, som han, havde ladet lave.
16 And after them [came] out of all the tribes of Israel such as directed their heart to seek the Lord the God of Israel: these came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord, the God of their fathers.
Og i Følge med Leviterne kom fra alle Israels Stammer de, hvis Hjerte var vendt til at søge HERREN, Israels Gud, til Jerusalem for at ofre til HERREN, deres Fædres Gud;
17 And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and brought power to Rehobo'am, the son of Solomon, during three years; for they walked in the way of David and Solomon during three years.
og de styrkede Juda Rige og hævdede Rehabeams, Salomos Søns, Magt i et Tidsrum af tre Aar. Thi i tre Aar fulgte han Davids og Salomos Veje.
18 And Rehobo'am took himself as wife Machalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, [and] Abichayil the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
Rehabeam ægtede Mahalat; en Datter af Davids Søn Jerimot og Abihajil, en Datter af Eliab, Isajs Søn.
19 And she bore to him sons: Je'ush, and Shamaryah, and Zaham.
Hun fødte ham Sønnerne Je'usj, Sjemarja og Zaham.
20 And after her did he take Ma'achah the daughter of Abshalom; and she bore to him Abiyah, and 'Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Senere ægtede han Absaloms Datter Ma'aka, som fødte ham Abija, Attaj, Ziza og Sjelomit.
21 And Rehobo'am loved Ma'achah the daughter of Abshalom more than all his wives and his concubines; for he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines; and he begat twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.
Rehabeam elskede Absaloms Datter Ma'aka højere end sine andre Hustruer og Medhustruer; han havde nemlig atten Hustruer og tresindstyve Medhustruer og avlede otte og tyve Sønner og tresindstyve Døtre.
22 And Rehobo'am appointed Abiyah the son of Ma'achah to be the chief, to be ruler among his brethren; because [he desired] to make him king.
Og Rehabeam satte Ma'akas Søn Abija til Overhoved, til Fyrste blandt hans Brødre; thi han havde i Sinde at gøre, ham til Konge;
23 And he dealt understandingly, and dispersed all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto all the fortified cities; and he gave them food in abundance and he required [for them] a multitude of wives.
og han fordelte klogelig alle sine Sønner rundt i alle Judas og Benjamins Landsdele og i alle de befæstede Byer og gav dem rigeligt Underhold og skaffede dem Hustruer.
