< 2 Chronicles 10 >
1 And Rehobo'am went to Shechem: for to Shechem were all Israel come to make him king.
Rehoboam kɔɔ Sekem, ɛfiri sɛ, na Israelfoɔ nyinaa akɔ hɔ sɛ wɔrekɔsi no ɔhene.
2 And it came to pass, when Jerobo'am the son of Nebat heard of it, for he was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, that Jerobo'am returned out of Egypt.
Ɛberɛ a Nebat babarima Yeroboam tee Salomo wuo no, ɔfiri Misraim baeɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔdwane firii Salomo anim kɔɔ Misraim.
3 And they sent and called him: and so came Jerobo'am with all Israel and spoke to Rehobo'am, saying,
Israel mpanimfoɔ soma maa wɔkɔfaa Yeroboam, na ɔne Israel nyinaa kɔɔ sɛ wɔne Rehoboam rekɔkasa.
4 Thy father made our yoke hard; but now do thou make lighter the hard service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, and we will serve thee.
Wɔkaa sɛ, “Wʼagya hyɛɛ yɛn ma yɛyɛɛ adwumaden. Yɛsrɛ wo, te saa adwumaden ne apeatoɔ adesoa duruduru a wʼagya de soaa yɛn no so. Woyɛ saa a, yɛbɛsom wo nokorɛ mu.”
5 And he said unto them, After but three days, then return unto me. And the people went away.
Rehoboam buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mommra nnansa akyi, mmɛgye mmuaeɛ.” Enti, nnipa no kɔeɛ.
6 Then consulted king Rehobo'am with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, How do you advise that I should return an answer to this people?
Na Ɔhene Rehoboam kɔɔ ne mpanimfoɔ bi a na wɔtu nʼagya Salomo fo ne wɔn kɔsusuu asɛm no ho. Ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Moka asɛm no ho ɛdeɛn? Mmuaeɛ bɛn na memfa mma saa nnipa yi?”
7 And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt be kind to this people, and please them, and speak to them good words: then will they be servants unto thee for all times.
Mpanimfoɔ yi buaa sɛ, “Sɛ woyɛ nnipa no yie, na woyɛ ayamyɛ kyerɛ wɔn ma ɛsɔ wɔn ani a, wɔn nso bɛyɛ wo nkurɔfoɔ nokwafoɔ.”
8 But he forsook the counsel which the old men had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and who stood before him.
Nanso Rehoboam amfa afotuo a mpanimfoɔ no tuu no no. Mmom, ɔkɔɔ nʼatipɛnfoɔ mmabunu bi a ɔne wɔn sii so a na wɔtu no fo no nkyɛn.
9 And he said unto them, How do you counsel how we should give an answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make lighter the yoke which thy father did put upon us?
Ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Mo nso mo adwene ne sɛn? Mmuaeɛ bɛn na memfa nkɔma nnipa a wɔpɛ sɛ mete adesoa a mʼagya de soaa wɔn no so?”
10 Then spoke with him the young men that were grown up with him, saying, Thus must thou say unto the people that have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but do thou make it lighter unto us: thus must thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.
Mmeranteɛ no buaa sɛ, “Ka kyerɛ wɔn a wɔnwiinwii no sɛ, ‘Me kɔkorɔbɛto mu pi sene mʼagya asene; sɛ modwene sɛ ɔhyɛɛ mo so dodo a, montwɛn na monhwɛ sɛdeɛ mɛyɛ.’
11 And now [if] my father hath burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: [if] my father hath chastised you with whips, then will I [do it] with scorpion-thorns.
Aane, na mʼagya yɛ den wɔ mo so, nanso me deɛ, mɛyɛ deɛ ɛkyɛn saa. Sɛ mʼagya kaa mo mpire a, me deɛ mede anyanyankyerɛ bɛkeka mo.”
12 When now Jerobo'am and all the people came to Rehobo'am on the third day, as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day:
Nnansa akyi, Yeroboam ne nnipa no nyinaa sane baa sɛ wɔrebɛtie Rehoboam mmuaeɛ, sɛdeɛ ɔkaeɛ no.
13 The king answered them harshly; and king Rehobo'am forsook the counsel of the old men;
Na Rehoboam de ahantan kasa kyerɛɛ wɔn. Wamfa mpanimfoɔ no afotuo,
14 And he spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add thereto; my father chastised you with whips, but I will [do it] with scorpion-thorns.
na ɔfaa mmeranteɛ no afotuo. Ɔka kyerɛɛ nnipa no sɛ, “Na mʼagya ma moyɛ adwumaden, na me deɛ, mɛkyɛn saa! Sɛ mʼagya kaa mo mpire a, me deɛ, mede anyanyankyerɛ na ɛbɛkeka mo!”
15 And the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was so brought about from God, in order that the Lord might fulfill his word, which he had spoken by means of Achiyahu the Shilonite unto Jerobo'am the son of Nebat.
Enti, ɔhene no antie nnipa no adesrɛ. Sɛdeɛ nneɛma mu daneeɛ no nyinaa firi Awurade, ɛfiri sɛ, ɛmaa asɛm a Awurade nam Ahiya a ɔfiri Silo so ka kyerɛɛ Nebat babarima Yeroboam no baa mu.
16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? nor have we an inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel; now, see to thy own house, David. So did all Israel go to their tents.
Ɛberɛ a Israel hunuu sɛ ɔhene no anyɛ wɔn abisadeɛ amma wɔn no, wɔteateaam sɛ, “Dawid ne nʼadedie ntoasoɔ no mfa wɔn ho. Yɛne Yisai babarima no nni twaka biara. Israel, momma yɛnkɔ yɛn afie. Ao Dawid, kɔhwehwɛ wʼankasa wo fie.” Enti, Israel nyinaa sane kɔɔ efie.
17 But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, over them did Rehobo'am reign.
Na Rehoboam kɔɔ so dii Israelfoɔ a na wɔtete Yuda nkuro so no so ɔhene.
18 Then sent king Rehobo'am Hadoram who was over the tribute; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehobo'am made speed with his might to get upon his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
Ɔhene Rehoboam somaa Hadoram a na ɔhwɛ nnwumayɛfoɔ so no sɛ ɔnkɔhwɛ mma ɔman no nyɛ dinn, nanso Israelfoɔ no sii no aboɔ, kumm no. Ɛberɛ a ɔhene Rehoboam tee saa asɛm no, ntɛm ara, ɔhuri tenaa ne teaseɛnam mu, dwane kɔɔ Yerusalem.
19 So did Israel rebel against the house of David unto this day.
Israel mmusuakuo a wɔwɔ atifi fam no ampene so sɛ Dawid aseni biara bɛdi wɔn so ɔhene de bɛsi ɛnnɛ.
