1 Samuel 1
1 And there was a certain man of Rama-thayim-zophim, of the mountain of Ephraim, whose name was Elkanah, the son of Yerocham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tochu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.
इफ़्राईम के पहाड़ी मुल्क में रामातीम सोफ़ीम का एक शख़्स था जिसका नाम इल्क़ाना था। वह इफ़्राईमी था और यरोहाम बिन इलीहू बिन तूहू बिन सूफ़ का बेटा था।
2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
उसके दो बीवियाँ थीं, एक का नाम हन्ना था और दूसरी का फ़निन्ना, और फ़निन्ना के औलाद हुई लेकिन हन्ना बे औलाद थी।
3 And this man went up out of his city from year to year to prostrate himself and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And at that place were the two sons of 'Eli, Chophni and Phinehas, priests of the Lord.
यह शख़्स हर साल अपने शहर से शीलोह में रब्ब — उल — अफ़्वाज के हुज़ूर सज्दा करने क़ुर्बानी पेश करने को जाता था और एली के दोनों बेटे हुफ़्नी और फ़ीन्हास जो ख़ुदावन्द के काहिन थे वहीं रहते थे
4 And when the day was come that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions;
और जिस दिन इल्क़ाना क़ुर्बानी अदा करता वह अपनी बीवी फ़निन्ना को और उस के सब बेटे बेटियों को हिस्से देता था
5 But unto Hannah he gave a double portion; for Hannah he loved [greatly]; but the Lord had shut up her womb.
लेकिन हन्ना को दूना हिस्सा दिया करता था इसलिए कि वह हन्ना को चाहता था लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द ने उसका रहम बंद कर रख्खा था
6 And her rival also provoked her continually, in order to make her fret; because the Lord had shut up her womb.
और उसकी सौत उसे कुढ़ाने के लिए बे तरह छेड़ती थी क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द ने उसका रहम बंद कर रख्खा था
7 And he did so year by year, as often as she went up to the house of the Lord, so did she provoke her; wherefore she wept, and did not eat.
और चूँकि वह हर साल ऐसा ही करता था जब वह ख़ुदावन्द के घर जाती इसलिए फ़निन्ना उसे छेड़ती थी चुनाँचे वह रोती खाना न खाती थी
8 Then said to her Elkanah her husband, Hannah, why wilt thou weep? and why wilt thou not eat? and why should thy heart be grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
इसलिए उसके ख़ाविंद इल्क़ाना ने उससे कहा, “ऐ हन्ना तू क्यूँ रोती है और क्यूँ नहीं खाती और तेरा दिल क्यूँ ग़मगीन है? क्या मैं तेरे लिए दस बेटों से बढ़ कर नहीं?”
9 And Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk; and 'Eli the priest was sitting upon a chair by the door-post of the temple of the Lord.
और जब वह शीलोह में खा पी चुके तो हन्ना उठी; उस वक़्त एली काहिन ख़ुदावन्द की हैकल की चौखट के पास कुर्सी पर बैठा हुआ था
10 But she had bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept greatly.
और वह निहायत दुखी थी, तब वह ख़ुदावन्द से दुआ करने और ज़ार ज़ार रोने लगी
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man-child: then will I give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.
और उसने मिन्नत मानी और कहा, “ऐ रब्ब — उल — अफ़वाज अगर तू अपनी लौंडी की मुसीबत पर नज़र करे और मुझे याद फ़रमाए और अपनी लौंडी को फ़रामोश न करे और अपनी लौंडी को फ़र्ज़न्द — ए — नरीना बख़्शे तो मैं उसे ज़िन्दगी भर के लिए ख़ुदावन्द को सुपुर्द कर दूँगी और उस्तरा उसके सर पर कभी न फिरेगा।”
12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying long before the Lord, that 'Eli watched her mouth.
और जब वह ख़ुदावन्द के सामने दु’आ कर रही थी, तो एली उसके मुँह को ग़ौर से देख रहा था।
13 Now as for Hannah, she spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice could not be heard; wherefore 'Eli regarded her as a drunken woman.
और हन्ना तो दिल ही दिल में कह रही थी सिर्फ़ उसके होंट हिलते थे लेकिन उसकी आवाज़ नहीं सुनाई देती थी तब एली को गुमान हुआ कि वह नशे में है।
14 And 'Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from off thee.
इसलिए एली ने उस से कहा, कि तू कब तक नशे में रहेगी? अपना नशा उतार।
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my Lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit; but neither wine nor strong drink have I drunk, and I have poured out my soul before the Lord.
हन्ना ने जवाब दिया “नहीं ऐ मेरे मालिक, मैं तो ग़मगीन औरत हूँ — मैंने न तो मय न कोई नशा पिया लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द के आगे अपना दिल उँडेला है।
16 Esteem not thy handmaid as a worthless woman; for out of the abundance of my grief and vexation have I spoken hitherto.
तू अपनी लौंडी को ख़बीस 'औरत न समझ, मैं तो अपनी फ़िक्रों और दुखों के हुजूम के ज़रिए' अब तक बोलती रही।”
17 Then 'Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant thy petition which thou hast asked of him.
तब एली ने जवाब दिया, “तू सलामत जा और इस्राईल का ख़ुदा तेरी मुराद जो तूने उससे माँगी है पूरी करे।”
18 And she said, Let thy handmaid find grace in thy eyes. The woman then went on her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no longer as before.
उसने कहा, “तेरी ख़ादिमा पर तेरे करम की नज़र हो।” तब वह 'औरत चली गई और खाना खाया और फिर उसका चेहरा उदास न रहा।
19 And they rose up early in the morning, and prostrated themselves before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house at Ramah; and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.
और सुबह को वह सवेरे उठे और ख़ुदावन्द के आगे सज्दा किया और रामा को अपने घर लोट गये। और इल्क़ाना ने अपनी बीवी हन्ना से मुबाशरत की और ख़ुदावन्द ने उसे याद किया।
20 And it came to pass, after the lapse of some time, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she called his name Samuel, saying, Because from the Lord have I asked him.
और ऐसा हुआ कि वक़्त पर हन्ना हामिला हुई और उस के बेटा हुआ और उस ने उसका नाम समुएल रख्खा क्यूँकि वह कहने लगी, “मैंने उसे ख़ुदावन्द से माँग कर पाया है।”
21 And the man Elkanah went up, with all his house, to offer unto the Lord the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
और वह शख़्स इल्क़ाना अपने सारे घराने के साथ ख़ुदावन्द के हुज़ूर सालाना क़ुर्बानी पेश करने और अपनी मिन्नत पूरी करने को गया।
22 But Hannah did not go up; for she said unto her husband, So soon as the child shall be weaned, then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and abide there for ever.
लेकिन हन्ना न गई क्यूँकि उसने अपने ख़ाविंद से कहा, जब तक लड़के का दूध छुड़ाया न जाए मैं यहीं रहूँगी और तब उसे लेकर जाऊँगी ताकि वह ख़ुदावन्द के सामने हाज़िर हो और फिर हमेशा वहीं रहे
23 And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth good in thy eyes; tarry until thou hast weaned him; only may the Lord fulfill his word. So the woman remained behind, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
और उस के खा़विन्द इल्क़ाना ने उससे कहा, जो तुझे अच्छा लगे वह कर। जब तक तू उसका दूध न छुड़ाये ठहरी रह सिर्फ़ इतना हो कि ख़ुदावन्द अपनी बात को बऱकरार रख्खे इसलिए वह 'औरत ठहरी रही और अपने बेटे को दूध छुड़ाने के वक़्त तक पिलाती रही।
24 And she took him up with her, when she had weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she brought him unto the house of the Lord at Shiloh; although the child was yet young.
और जब उस ने उसका दूध छुड़ाया तो उसे अपने साथ लिया और तीन बछड़े और एक एफ़ा आटा मय की एक मश्क अपने साथ ले गई, और उस लड़के को शीलोह में ख़ुदावन्द के घर लाई, और वह लड़का बहुत ही छोटा था
25 And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to 'Eli.
और उन्होंने एक बछड़े को ज़बह किया और लड़के को एली के पास लाए:
26 And she said, Pardon, my Lord, as thy soul liveth, my Lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, to pray unto the Lord.
और वह कहने लगी, “ऐ मेरे मालिक तेरी जान की क़सम ऐ मेरे मालिक मैं वही 'औरत हूँ जिसने तेरे पास यहीं खड़ी होकर ख़ुदावन्द से दुआ की थी।
27 For this lad did I pray; and the Lord hath granted me my petition which I asked of him;
मैंने इस लड़के के लिए दुआ की थी और ख़ुदावन्द ने मेरी मुराद जो मैंने उससे माँगी पूरी की।
28 Therefore also have I lent him, for my part, to the Lord; all the days that have been assigned to him shall he be lent to the Lord. And he bowed himself there before the Lord.
इसी लिए मैंने भी इसे ख़ुदावन्द को दे दिया; यह अपनी ज़िन्दगी भर के लिए ख़ुदावन्द को दे दिया गया है” तब उसने वहाँ ख़ुदावन्द के आगे सिज्दा किया।
