1 Samuel 5

1 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ha'ezer unto Ashdod.

௧பெலிஸ்தர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அதை எபெனேசரிலிருந்து அஸ்தோத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

2 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

௨பெலிஸ்தர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, தாகோனின் கோவிலிலே கொண்டுவந்து, தாகோனின் அருகில் வைத்தார்கள்.

3 And when the people of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was lying upon his face on the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him again in his place.

௩அஸ்தோத் ஊர்க்காரர்கள் மறுநாள் காலையில் எழுந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் யெகோவாவுடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்துகிடந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தாகோனை எடுத்து, அதை அதின் இடத்திலே திரும்பவும் நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

4 And when they arose early on the morning of the following day, behold, Dagon was lying upon his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the fish portion was left on him.

௪அவர்கள் மறுநாள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் யெகோவாவுடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து கிடந்ததுமல்லாமல், தாகோனின் தலையும் அதின் இரண்டு கைகளும் வாசற்படியின்மேல் உடைந்து கிடந்தது; தாகோனுக்கு உடல்மாத்திரம் மீதியாக இருந்தது.

5 Therefore do the priests of Dagon, and all that come into Dagon's house, not step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod even until this day.

௫ஆதலால் இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் தாகோனின் ஆசாரியர்களும் தாகோனின் கோவிலுக்குள் போகிற யாவரும் அஸ்தோத்திலிருக்கிற தாகோனுடைய வாசற்படியை மிதிக்கிறதில்லை.

6 And the hand of the Lord became heavy upon the people of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with hemorrhoids, even Ashdod and its territory.

௬அஸ்தோத் ஊர்க்காரர்களை வாதிக்கும்படி யெகோவாவுடைய கை அவர்கள்மேல் பாரமாயிருந்தது; அவர் அஸ்தோத்தின் மக்களையும், அதின் எல்லைகளுக்குள் இருக்கிறவர்களையும் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதித்தார்.

7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not remain with us; for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our God.

௭இப்படி நடந்ததை அஸ்தோத்தின் மக்கள் பார்த்தபோது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய கை நமதுமேலும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய தாகோனின்மேலும் கடினமாக இருந்ததால், அவருடைய பெட்டி நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்ககூடாது என்று சொல்லி;

8 And they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be removed unto Gath. And they removed the ark of the God of Israel thither.

௮பெலிஸ்தர்களின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் அழைத்து, தங்களின் அருகிலே கூடிவரச் செய்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நாம் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர்கள்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை காத் பட்டணம்வரை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.

9 And it happened, after they had removed it, that the hand of the Lord was against the city with a very great confusion; and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had hemorrhoids in their secret parts.

௯அதை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனபின்பு, யெகோவாவுடைய கை அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின்மேல் கடுங்கோபமாக இறங்கினது; அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மனிதருக்குள் சிறியவர் துவங்கிப் பெரியவர்வரை மூலவியாதியை உண்டாக்கி, அவர்களை வாதித்தார்.

10 And they sent away the ark of God to 'Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to 'Ekron, that the 'Ekronites cried out, saying, They have removed to us the ark of the God of Israel, to slay us and our people.

௧0அதினால் அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எக்ரோனுக்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டி எக்ரோனுக்கு வருகிறபோது, எக்ரோன் ஊர்க்காரர்கள்: எங்களையும் எங்கள் மக்களையும் கொன்றுபோட, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்து, எங்கள் அருகில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள் என்று கூக்குரலிட்டார்கள்.

11 So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, that it may return to its own place, so that it may not slay us, and our people; for there was a confusion of death throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

௧௧அவர்கள் பெலிஸ்தர்களின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் கூடிவரும்படி அழைத்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவன் எங்களையும் எங்கள் மக்களையும் கொன்றுபோடாதபடி, அவருடைய பெட்டியை அதின் இடத்திற்குத் திரும்ப அனுப்பிவிடுங்கள் என்றார்கள்; அந்தப் பட்டணமெங்கும் மரணம் அதிகமாக இருந்தது; தேவனுடைய கை அங்கே மகா பாரமாயிருந்தது.

12 And the people that did not die were smitten with the hemorrhoids; and the lamentation of the city went up to heaven.

௧௨இறந்துபோகாமல் இருந்தவர்கள் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதிக்கப்பட்டதினால், அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் கூக்குரல் வானம்வரை எழும்பினது.
