1 Samuel 26
1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gib'ah, saying, Behold, David hideth himself on the hill of Chachilah, before the desert.
Aber die Siphiter kamen zu Saulnach Gibea und sprachen: Weißt du wohl, daß sich David in Gibeath Hahachila vorn an der Einöde versteckt hält?
2 Then arose Saul, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, and with him were three thousand men chosen out of Israel, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
Da machte sich Saul mit einer 3000 Mann starken Auslese aus Israel auf nach der Wüste Siph hinab, um David in der Wüste Siph zu suchen.
3 And Saul encamped on the hill of Chachilah, which is before the desert by the way; but David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul was coming after him into the wilderness.
Saul lagerte sich in Gibeath Hahachila, das vorn an der Einöde am Wege liegt. David hingegen hatte sich in der Wüste niedergelassen. Als er nun erfuhr, daß Saul zu seiner Verfolgung in die Wüste gekommen sei,
4 David thereupon sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come for a certainty.
sandte er Kundschafter aus und brachte in Erfahrung, daß Saul in Nachon angelangt sei.
5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul was encamped; and David beheld the place where Saul lay, with Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his army; and Saul was lying in the midst of the ring, and the people were encamped round about him.
Nun machte sich David auf und kam an den Ort, wo Saul sich gelagert hatte.
6 Then commenced David and said to Achimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruyah, the brother of Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will readily go down with thee.
Als aber David den Platz sah, wo Saul mit seinem Feldherrn Abner, dem Sohne Ners lag - Saul lag nämlich in der Wagenburg, während die Leute im Kreise um ihn lagerten -, redete er den Hethiter Ahimelech und Abisai, den Sohn der Zeruja, den Bruder Joabs, also an: Wer dringt mit mir drunten zu Saul ins Lager ein? Abisai rief: Ich dringe mit ein!
7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the ring, with his spear stuck in the ground by his head; but Abner and the people were lying round about him.
Als nun David und Abisai nachts zu den Leuten vorgedrungen waren, da lag Saul schlafend in der Wagenburg, und sein Speer stak zu seinen Häupten im Boden; Abner aber und die Leute lagen im Kreise um ihn.
8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath surrendered this day thy enemy into thy hand: and now let me strike him through, I pray thee, with the spear, even to the earth with one blow, and I will not give him a second one.
Da sprach Abisai zu David: Heute hat dir Gott deinen Feind in die Hände geliefert: so will ich ihn denn mit dem Speer mit einem Stoß an den Boden spießen; ich brauche keinen zweiten!
9 But David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who hath stretched forth his hand against the Lord's anointed, and remained guiltless?
David aber erwiderte Abisai: bringe ihn nicht um! Denn wer hätte je an den Gesalbten Jahwes Hand angelegt und wär ungestraft geblieben?
10 David said farthermore, As the Lord liveth, the Lord alone shall strike him down: either his day shall come that he die; or he shall go down into battle, and perish.
David fügte hinzu: So wahr Jahwe lebt! Vielmehr wiord entweder Jahwe ihn schlagen, oder es kommt von selbst sein Todestag, oder er zieht in den Krieg und wird weggerafft.
11 Far be this from me for the sake of the Lord, that I should stretch forth my hand against the Lord's anointed; but now, I pray thee, take thou the spear that is by his head, and the cruise of water, and let us go our way.
Bewahre mich Jahwe davor, daß ich Hand an den Gesalbten Jahwes legen sollte! So nimm denn den Speer zu seinen Häupten und seine Wasserschale, und dann wollen wir unseres Weges gehen!
12 So David took the spear and the cruise of water by the head of Saul, and they went their way; and no one saw it, and no one perceived it, and-no one awaked; for they were all sleeping; because a deep sleep from the Lord was fallen upon them.
So nahm denn David den Speer und die Wasserschale von Sauls Kopfende weg, dann gingen sie ihres Weges, ohne daß jemand sie sah oder jemand es merkte oder erwachte; vielmehr schliefen alle, weil sich ein von Jahwe gesandter tiefer Schlaf auf sie herabgesnkt hatte.
13 Then went David over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mount afar off, the space between them being great.
Sodann ging David auf die andere Seite und stellte sich in einiger Entfernung, so daß ein weiter Zwischenraum zwischen ihnen war, auf den Gipfel des Bergs.
14 And David called to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Wilt thou not answer, Abner? And Abner answered and said, Who art thou that callest to the king?
da rief david den Leuten und Abner, dem Sohne Ners, zu: Giebst du keine Antwort, Abner? Abner erwiederte: Wer bist du, der den König anruft?
15 And David said to Abner, Art thou not a man? and who is like to thee in Israel? why then hast thou not kept guard over thy lord the king? for there came one of the people to destroy the king thy lord.
David entgegnete Abner: Du bist doch ein Mann, wer in Israel gleicht dir? - Warum hast du denn deinen Herrn, den König, nicht behütet? Denn es ist jemand vom Heer eingedrungen, um seinen herrn, den König umzubringen.
16 This thing which thou hast done is not good. As the Lord liveth, ye deserve to die; because ye have not kept guard over your master, over the Lord's anointed. And now see, where is the king's spear, and the cruise of water that was by his head?
Das ist kein gutes Stück, das du da geliefert hast. So wahr Jahwe lebt - den Tod habt ihr verdient, daß ihr euren Herrn, den Gesalbten Jahwes, nicht behütet habt! Sieh doch zu, wo der Speer des Königs ist und wo die Wasserschale, die zu seinen Häupten lag!
17 And Saul recognized David's voice, and he said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my Lord, O king.
Saul aber erkannte Davids Stimme und rief: Ist das nicht deine Stimme, mein Sohn David? David rief: Ja, mein Herr König!
18 And he said, Why is this that my lord doth pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?
und fuhr fort: Warum doch jagt mein Herr seinem Sklaven nach? Was hebe ich denn gethan, und was liegt bei mir Böses vor?
19 And now, I pray thee, let my Lord the king hear the words of his servant! If the Lord have stirred thee up against me, then may he accept the savor of an offering; but if they be the children of men, then be they cursed before the Lord; because they have driven me out this day so that I cannot attach myself on the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Go, serve other gods.
Möchte darum mein Herr König jetzt dem Vorschlage seines Sklaven Gehör schenken! Hat etwa Jahwe dich gegen mich aufgereizt, so mag er Opferduft zu riechen bekommen; wenn aber Menschen, so seien sie verflucht vor Jahwes Angesicht, weil sie mich heute austreiben, daß ich nicht teil an Jahwes Eigentum haben soll, indem sie sprechen: Fort! verehre andere Götter!
20 Now, therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth far from the presence of the Lord; for the king of Israel is come out to seek a single flea, as one doth usually pursue a partridge on the mountains.
Möge aber nun mein Blut nicht zur Erde fallen, fern vom Angesichte Jahwes, da der König von Israel ausgezogen ist, mein Leben zu erjagen, wie man auf ein Rebhuhn in den Bergen Jagd macht!
21 Then said Saul, I have sinned; return, my son David; for I will not do thee harm any more, for the cause that my life was precious in thy eyes this day: behold, I have acted foolishly, and have erred exceedingly much.
Saul erwiderte: Ich habe mich versündigt! Kehre zurück, mein Sohn David, ich will dir nie wieder ein Leid thun, dafür, daß mein Leben dir heute teuer gewesen ist. Ich weiß, ich habe töricht gehandelt und mich sehr schwer vergangen!
22 And David answered and said, Behold, here is the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
David rief zur Antwort: Da ist des Königs Speer; einer der Leute mag herüberkommen und ihn holen.
23 And may the Lord recompense to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; since the Lord delivered thee into my hand today, and I would not stretch forth my hand against the anointed of the Lord.
Aber Jahwe vergilt jedermann sein richtiges Verhalten und seine Treue: denn Jahwe hatte dich mir heute in die Hände geliefert, ich aber wollte nicht Hand an den Gesalbten Jahwes legen.
24 And behold, as thy life was highly valued this day in my eyes, so may my life be highly valued in the eyes of the Lord, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.
So wert aber dein Leben heute mir war, so wert möge mein Leben Jahwe sein, und möge er mich aus aller Not erretten!
25 Then said Saul to David, Blessed be thou my son David: thou wilt both do great things, and wilt also surely prevail. And David went then on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul entgegnete David: Magst du gesegnet sein, mein Sohn David; du wirst es ausführen und den Sieg gewinnen! Hierauf ging David seines Wegs, und Saul kehrte an seinen Ort zurück.
