1 Samuel 2
1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart is glad in the Lord, my horn is exalted through the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Und Hanna betete und sprach: Es jauchzt mein Herz durch Jahwe, mein Horn ist hoch erhoben durch meinen Gott, weit aufgethan mein Mund wider meine Feinde, denn ich freue mich deiner Hilfe!
2 There is none holy like the Lord; for there is none beside thee; and there is not any rock like our God.
Niemand ist heilig, wie Jahwe, denn keiner ist außer dir; es ist kein Fels gleich unserm Gott!
3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth; for a God of knowledge is the Lord, and by him are actions weighed.
Sagt nicht immer: Hoch hinaus! hoch hinaus! Vermessenes entfahre nicht eurem Mund! Denn ein wissender Gott ist Jahwe und ein Gott, der Thaten wägt.
4 The bow of the mighty is broken, and those that stumbled are girded with strength.
Der Helden Bogen wird zerschmettert, Strauchelnde aber gürten sich mit Kraft;
5 They that were full hire themselves out for bread; and they that were hungry cease [from labor]: while the barren hath born seven, she that hath many children fadeth away.
Satte haben sich um Brot verdingt, aber Hungernde können feiern. Ja, die Unfruchtbare gebiert sieben, während die Kinderreiche dahinwelkt.
Jahwe tötet und macht lebendig, er stürzt in die Unterwelt und führt herauf. (Sheol h7585)
7 The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich: he bringeth low and also lifteth up.
Jahwe macht arm und macht reich, erniedrigt und erhöhet auch.
8 He raiseth up out of the dust the poor, from the dunghill he lifteth up the needy, to set them among nobles, and he assigneth them the throne of glory; for the Lord's are the pillars of the earth, on which he hath set the world.
Aus dem Staube richtet er den Schwachen empor, aus dem Kot erhebt er den Armen, heißt sie sitzen neben den Fürsten, weist ihnen an den Ehrenplatz. Denn Jahwes sind der Erde Säulen, und er stellte auf sie den Erdkreis.
9 He ever guardeth the feet of his pious ones, and the wicked shall be made silent in darkness; for not by strength can man prevail.
Die Füße seiner Frommen behütet er, aber die Gottlosen kommen um in Finsternis. Denn nicht durch eigene Kraft siegt jemand:
10 The Lord—his adversaries will be crushed; out of heaven will he thunder upon them: the Lord will judge the ends of the earth; and he will give strength unto his king, and lift up the horn of his anointed.
die wider Jahwe streiten, werden zerschmettert! Über ihm donnert er im Himmel; Jahwe richtet die Enden der Erde. Er verleiht Stärke seinem König, erhebt das Horn seines Gesalbten!
11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the lad was ministering unto the Lord before 'Eli the priest.
Darauf ging sie wieder nach Rama. Der Knabe aber besorgte den Dienst vor Jahwe unter den Augen des Priesters Eli.
12 And the sons of 'Eli were worthless men: they knew not the Lord.
Elis Söhne jedoch waren nichtswürdige Menschen, die sich um Jahwe nicht kümmerten,
13 And the custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while [the man] was seething the flesh, with a fork with three teeth in his hand;
noch darum, was dem Priester vom Volke zukam. So oft nämlich jemand ein Opfer schlachtete, kam, während das Fleisch noch kochte, der Bursche des Priesters mit einer dreizackigen Gabel in der Hand
14 And he struck it into the pan, or the kettle, or the caldron, or the pot; [and] all that the fork brought up the priest took away with it. So did they unto all the Israelites that came thither, to Shiloh.
und stach damit in den Kessel oder Topf oder in das Becken oder die Schüssel: was dann irgend die Gabel heraufbrachte, nahm der Priester für sich. So verfuhren sie mit allen Israeliten, die dorthin nach Silo kamen.
15 Even before they had yet burnt the fat, the priest's servant would come, and say to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not take from thee sodden flesh, but raw.
Und ehe man noch das Fett in Rauch aufgehen ließ, pflegte der Bursche des Priesters zu kommen und sprach zu dem, der opferte: Gieb Fleisch her zum Braten für den Priester! Er will nicht gekochtes Fleisch von dir haben, sondern rohes!
16 And if the man said unto him, They will surely presently burn the fat, and then take whatever thy soul may long for: then would he say, No; but thou shalt give it me now; and if not, I will take it by force.
Erwiderte ihm aber jener: Zuerst muß man doch das Fett in Rauch aufgehen lassen; darnach nimm dir, was du gerne magst! so gab er zur Antwort: Nein, sondern glich sollst du es hergeben - wo nicht, so nehme ich es mit Gewalt!
17 And the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord; for the men despised the offering of the Lord.
So war die Versündigung der beiden jungen Männer sehr schwer vor Jahwe, weil sie das Opfer Jahwes gering achteten.
18 But Samuel was ministering before the Lord, being a lad, girded with a linen ephod.
Samuel aber besorgte den Dienst vor Jahwe - ein Knabe, umgürtet mit einem linnenen Schulterkleid.
19 Moreover his mother used to make him a little overcoat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
Dazu pflegte ihm seine Mutter einen kleinen Rock zu fertigen und brachte ihm denselben jedes Jahr, wenn sie mit ihrem Manne zum jährlichen Opfermahl hinaufwanderte.
20 And 'Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, May the Lord give thee seed from this woman instead of the loan who is lent to the Lord. And they went back unto his place.
Da segnete dann Eli jedesmal Elkana und sein Weib und sprach: Möge dir Jahwe Nachwuchs von diesem Weib erstatten an Stelle des Darlehens, das an Jahwe geliehen ward! Sodann kehrte er an seinen Ort zurück.
21 And truly the Lord visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the lad Samuel grew up before the Lord.
Und Jahwe nahm sich Hannas an, so daß sie noch drei Söhne und zwei Töchter gebar. Der junge Samuel aber wuchs heran bei Jahwe.
22 Now 'Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons were in the habit of doing unto all Israel; and how they would lie with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Nun war Eli ein sehr alter Mann. Doch wenn er hörte, was alles seine Söhne an ganz Israel begingen und daß sie mit den Weibern buhlten, die draußen vor dem Offenbarungszelte Dienst thaten,
23 And he said unto them, Why will ye do such things? for I hear of your evil dealings from all this people.
dann sagte er zu ihnen: Warum thut ihr dergleichen Dinge, wie ich sie vom ganzen Volke vernehme?
24 No, my sons; for the report that I hear is not good, which the Lord's people spread abroad.
Nicht doch, meine Söhne! Das ist ein schlimmes Gerücht, das ich vom Volke Jahwes verbreiten höre!
25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him; but if against the Lord a man should sin, who shall pray for him? Nevertheless would they not hearken unto the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to slay them.
Sündigt ein Mensch wider Menschen, so entscheidet die Gottheit; sündigt aber jemand wider Jahwe - wer wollte sich da für ihn zum Richter aufwerfen? Sie aber hörten nicht auf die Worte ihres Vaters, denn Jahwe hatte ihren Tod beschlossen.
26 And the lad Samuel was constantly growing and increasing in favor both with the Lord, and also with men.
Der Knabe Samuel hingegen wuchs immer mehr heran und gewann immer mehr an Gunst bei Jahwe, wie bei Menschen.
27 And there came a man of God unto 'Eli, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Did I [not] appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, in Pharaoh's house?
Da kam ein Gottesmann zu Eli und redete ihn an: So spricht Jahwe: Allerdings habe ich mich deiner Familie geoffenbart, als sie noch in Ägypten Knechte des Hauses des Pharao waren,
28 And did I [not] choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to me as a priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I [not] give unto the house of thy father all the fire-offerings of the children of Israel?
und erwählte sie mir aus allen Stämmen Israels zu Priestern, daß sie zu meinem Altar hinaufsteigen, Räucherwerk anzuzünden und das Schulterkleid vor mir tragen sollten, und habe deiner Familie alle Feueropfer der Israeliten überwiesen -
29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at my meat-offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation? and [why] honoredst thou thy sons above me, to fatten yourselves with the first of every offering of Israel my people?
warum tretet ihr meine Schlachtopfer und Opfergaben mit Füßen, die ich angeordnet habe, und achtest du deine Söhne höher als mich, daß ihr euch mästet von den besten Stücken aller Opfer, die Israel vor mir darbringt?
30 Therefore saith the Lord the God of Israel, I had indeed said, Thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever; but now, saith the Lord, Be it far from me; for those that honor me will I honor, and those that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
So lautet denn der Spruch Jahwes, des Gottes Israels: Ich habe zwar gesagt, deine und deines Vaters Angehörige sollen für immer vor mir aus- und eingehen - jetzt aber lautet Jahwes Spruch: Ferne sei es von mir! Nein, wer mich ehrt, den ehre ich, aber wer mich verachtet, soll in Schande geraten:
31 Behold, days are coming, that I will hew off thy arm, and the arm of thy father's house, so that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
die Zeit wird kommen, wo ich deinen und deines Geschlechtes Arm zerschmettere, so daß es keinen Betagten mehr in deiner Familie giebt.
32 And thou shalt behold a rival in my habitation, in all that by which he will do good for Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thy house in all times.
Dann wirst du auf alle die Wohlthaten blicken, die ich Israel erweisen werde; aber in deiner Familie soll sich nie mehr ein Betagter finden.
33 And yet I will not cut off the men descended from thee from my altar, to consume thy eyes, and to grieve thy soul: and all the increase of thy house shall die as [vigorous] men.
Nur einen deiner Angehörigen will ich nicht wegtilgen von meinem Altar, damit seine Augen verschmachten und seine Seele sich härme; dagegen soll die ganze übrige Menge deiner Nachkommen durch Menschenschwert umkommen.
34 And this shall be unto thee the sign, that shall happen on thy two sons, on Chophni and Phinehas: On one day shall they, both of them, die.
Als Zeichen, das an deinen beiden Söhnen Hophni und Pinehas eintreffen wird, diene dir dieses: an einem Tage werden beide sterben!
35 And I will raise up to me a faithful priest, who shall do in accordance with what is in my heart and in my mind; and I will build for him an enduring house; and he shall walk before my anointed in all times.
Aber ich will mir einen zuverlässigen Priester bestellen, der nach meinem Sinn und Willen handelt; dem will ich ein dauerndes Haus bauen, daß er allezeit vor meinem Gesalbten aus- und eingehen soll.
36 And it shall come to pass, that whoever is left in thy house shall come to bow down to him for a gera of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Attach me, I pray thee, unto one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
Dann wird es kommen, daß, wer etwa von deinen Nachkommen noch übrig ist, herzutritt und sich vor ihm niederwirft, um ein Geldstück oder einen Laib Brot zu erbetteln, indem er spricht: Geselle mich doch einem deiner Priesterämter bei, daß ich ein Stück Brot zu essen habe!
