1 Samuel 2
1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart is glad in the Lord, my horn is exalted through the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Anna betete und sprach: Aufjauchzt mein Herz im Herrn; groß wurde meine Stärke durch den Herrn. Kühn spricht mein Mund mit meinen Feinden; ich freue mich ob Deiner Hilfe.
2 There is none holy like the Lord; for there is none beside thee; and there is not any rock like our God.
So heilig wie der Herr ist keiner; denn außer Dir ist keiner sonst. Kein Fels gleicht unserem Gott.
3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth; for a God of knowledge is the Lord, and by him are actions weighed.
Nicht sprechet soviel Übermütiges! Vermessenheit entschwinde eurem Munde! Es ist der Herr ein Gott des Wissens! Und böse Taten sind nie recht.
4 The bow of the mighty is broken, and those that stumbled are girded with strength.
Der Starken Bogen ward geknickt; doch Strauchelnde behalten ihre Kraft.
5 They that were full hire themselves out for bread; and they that were hungry cease [from labor]: while the barren hath born seven, she that hath many children fadeth away.
Um Brot verdingen müssen sich, die vordem satt, und Hungrige erquicken sich. Die Unfruchtbare hat der Kinder sieben; die Kinderreiche welkt dahin.
Der Herr kann töten und beleben, zum Grabe führen und davor bewahren. (Sheol h7585)
7 The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich: he bringeth low and also lifteth up.
Der Herr macht arm und reich, erniedrigt und erhöht.
8 He raiseth up out of the dust the poor, from the dunghill he lifteth up the needy, to set them among nobles, and he assigneth them the throne of glory; for the Lord's are the pillars of the earth, on which he hath set the world.
Er richtet auf vom Staub den Bettler, erhebt den Armen aus dem Kot und heißt sie setzen neben Fürsten, weist ihnen einen Ehrensitz für immer an. Des Herren sind der Erde Säulen; den Erdkreis stellte er darauf.
9 He ever guardeth the feet of his pious ones, and the wicked shall be made silent in darkness; for not by strength can man prevail.
Die Schritte seiner Frommen hütet er; in Finsternis vergehn die Frevler; denn nicht durch eigne Kraft wird jemand Herr.
10 The Lord—his adversaries will be crushed; out of heaven will he thunder upon them: the Lord will judge the ends of the earth; and he will give strength unto his king, and lift up the horn of his anointed.
Zerschmettert werden so des Herren Widersacher, und er vernichtet Himmelsstürmer. Der Erde Enden richtet selbst der Herr, gibt Stärke seinem König, erhöht seines Gesalbten Macht."
11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the lad was ministering unto the Lord before 'Eli the priest.
Dann ging Elkana nach der Rama heim. Der Knabe aber diente dem Herrn unter des Priesters Eli Augen.
12 And the sons of 'Eli were worthless men: they knew not the Lord.
Die Söhne Elis aber waren Teufelsbuben. Sie kümmerten sich nicht um den Herrn
13 And the custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while [the man] was seething the flesh, with a fork with three teeth in his hand;
und um der Priester Gerechtsame gegenüber dem Volke. Sooft nämlich jemand ein Opfer schlachtete, kam des Priesters Bursche, während das Fleisch kochte, mit einer dreizackigen Gabel
14 And he struck it into the pan, or the kettle, or the caldron, or the pot; [and] all that the fork brought up the priest took away with it. So did they unto all the Israelites that came thither, to Shiloh.
und stach damit in den Kessel oder Topf oder Tiegel oder in die Pfanne. Alles, was die Gabel heraufbrachte, nahm der Priester für sich. So taten sie mit ganz Israel, das dorthin nach Silo kam.
15 Even before they had yet burnt the fat, the priest's servant would come, and say to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not take from thee sodden flesh, but raw.
Sogar bevor man das Fett verbrannte, kam des Priesters Bursche und sagte zu dem opfernden Mann: "Gib Fleisch zum Braten für den Priester! Er will von dir kein gekochtes Fleisch haben, sondern rohes."
16 And if the man said unto him, They will surely presently burn the fat, and then take whatever thy soul may long for: then would he say, No; but thou shalt give it me now; and if not, I will take it by force.
Sagte dann der Mann zu ihm: "Man muß auf der Stelle das Fett verbrennen. Danach nimm dir, was du gerne magst!", so sprach er zu ihm: "Nein! Gib sofort! Wenn nicht, dann nehme ich es mit Gewalt."
17 And the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord; for the men despised the offering of the Lord.
So ward die Schuld der jungen Männer vor dem Herrn sehr groß. Denn sie, die Menschen, hatten das Opfer des Herrn verächtlich behandelt.
18 But Samuel was ministering before the Lord, being a lad, girded with a linen ephod.
Samuel aber diente vor dem Herrn, als Knabe schon mit dem Leibschurz umgürtet.
19 Moreover his mother used to make him a little overcoat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
Dazu pflegte ihm seine Mutter einen kleinen Mantel zu machen. Einen solchen brachte sie ihm jedes Jahr, wenn sie mit ihrem Manne hinaufzog, das jährliche Opfer darzubringen.
20 And 'Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, May the Lord give thee seed from this woman instead of the loan who is lent to the Lord. And they went back unto his place.
Dann segnete Eli den Elkana und sein Weib und sprach: "Der Herr gebe dir von diesem Weibe Nachwuchs statt des Erflehten, den sie vom Herrn erfleht!" Dann zogen sie heim.
21 And truly the Lord visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the lad Samuel grew up before the Lord.
Weil der Herr Anna bedacht hatte, ward sie guter Hoffnung und gebar noch drei Söhne und zwei Töchter. Der junge Samuel aber wuchs auf beim Herrn.
22 Now 'Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons were in the habit of doing unto all Israel; and how they would lie with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Eli aber war sehr alt geworden. Er hörte alles, was seine Söhne an ganz Israel taten, und daß sie bei den Weibern lagen, die den Eingang des Festgezeltes verhängten.
23 And he said unto them, Why will ye do such things? for I hear of your evil dealings from all this people.
Er sprach zu ihnen: "Warum treibt ihr solche Dinge, daß ich vom ganzen Volke diese schlechten Dinge über euch hören muß?
24 No, my sons; for the report that I hear is not good, which the Lord's people spread abroad.
Nein, meine Söhne, nicht schön ist das Gerücht, das ich über die Verführer des Herrnvolkes hören muß.
25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him; but if against the Lord a man should sin, who shall pray for him? Nevertheless would they not hearken unto the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to slay them.
Sündigt ein Mann gegen den anderen, dann ist dessen Anwalt Gott. Sündigt aber ein Mann gegen den Herrn, wer könnte ihn verteidigen?" Aber sie hörten nicht auf ihres Vaters Worte. Denn dem Herrn gefiel es, sie sterben zu lassen.
26 And the lad Samuel was constantly growing and increasing in favor both with the Lord, and also with men.
Der Knabe Samuel aber wuchs immer mehr und nahm zu an Gunst beim Herrn und bei den Menschen.
27 And there came a man of God unto 'Eli, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Did I [not] appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, in Pharaoh's house?
Da kam ein Gottesmann zu Eli und sprach zu ihm: "So spricht der Herr: 'Ich habe mich dem Hause deines Vaters einst geoffenbart, als es in Ägypten noch Pharaos Haus gehörte.
28 And did I [not] choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to me as a priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I [not] give unto the house of thy father all the fire-offerings of the children of Israel?
Und ich erwählte es aus allen Stämmen Israels für mich zu Priestern, daß sie auf meinen Altar steigen und Räucherwerk anzünden und das Ephod vor mich hinlegen. Und deinem Vaterhause übertrug ich alle Mahlopfer der Söhne Israels.
29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at my meat-offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation? and [why] honoredst thou thy sons above me, to fatten yourselves with the first of every offering of Israel my people?
Warum mißachtet ihr mein Opfer und meine Gabe, die ich zum Unterhalt angewiesen? Weswegen achtest du deine Söhne höher als mich, daß ihr euch mästet von dem ersten Abhub aller Gaben Israels, die meines Volkes sind?'
30 Therefore saith the Lord the God of Israel, I had indeed said, Thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever; but now, saith the Lord, Be it far from me; for those that honor me will I honor, and those that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Deshalb ein Spruch des Herrn, des Gottes Israels: 'Ich habe freilich ausgesprochen: "Dein Haus und deines Vaters Haus, sie sollen immer vor mir wandeln!" Nun aber' - Spruch des Herrn -, 'sei es fern von mir! Denn die mich ehren, ehre ich. Die mich mißachten, leiden Schmach.
31 Behold, days are coming, that I will hew off thy arm, and the arm of thy father's house, so that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
Es kommt die Zeit, da kürze ich dir einen Arm und deines Vaterhauses Arm, daß nimmermehr ein Greis in deinem Hause sei.
32 And thou shalt behold a rival in my habitation, in all that by which he will do good for Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thy house in all times.
Dann blickst du, selber arm, auf jeden, dem es gut in Israel ergeht. Nie sei in deinem Hause mehr ein Greis!
33 And yet I will not cut off the men descended from thee from my altar, to consume thy eyes, and to grieve thy soul: and all the increase of thy house shall die as [vigorous] men.
Nicht jeden aber tilge ich von meinem Altar, daß deine Augen schmachten und deine Seele vergehe. Doch sterbe deines Hauses ganze Brut hin wie gemeine Leute!
34 And this shall be unto thee the sign, that shall happen on thy two sons, on Chophni and Phinehas: On one day shall they, both of them, die.
Und dies sei dir das Zeichen, das deine beiden Söhne Chophni und Pinechas trifft: An einem Tage sterben beide!
35 And I will raise up to me a faithful priest, who shall do in accordance with what is in my heart and in my mind; and I will build for him an enduring house; and he shall walk before my anointed in all times.
Doch ich bestelle mir einen zuverlässigen Priester, der tut nach meinem Sinn und Herzen. Ich baue ihm ein dauernd Haus. Und alle Tage wandelt er vor meinem Hochgesalbten.
36 And it shall come to pass, that whoever is left in thy house shall come to bow down to him for a gera of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Attach me, I pray thee, unto one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
Wer übrigbleibt von deinem Hause, der kommt und wirft sich nieder, um Geld und Brotlaibe zu betteln, wobei er sagt: "Geselle mich doch einer deiner Priesterschaften bei, damit ich einen Bissen Brot bekomme."'"
