1 Samuel 2
1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart is glad in the Lord, my horn is exalted through the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
১পরে হান্না প্রার্থনা করে বললেন, “আমার হৃদয় সদাপ্রভুতে উল্লাসিত; আমার শিং সদাপ্রভুতে উন্নত হলো; শত্রুদের কাছে আমার মুখ উজ্জ্বল হল; কারণ তোমার পরিত্রাণে আমি আনন্দিতা।
2 There is none holy like the Lord; for there is none beside thee; and there is not any rock like our God.
২সদাপ্রভুর মত পবিত্র আর কেউ নেই, তুমি ছাড়া আর কেউ নেই; আমাদের ঈশ্বরের মত শৈল আর নেই।
3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth; for a God of knowledge is the Lord, and by him are actions weighed.
৩তোমরা এমন গর্বের কথা আর বোলো না, তোমাদের মুখ থেকে অহঙ্কারের কথা বের না হোক; কারণ সদাপ্রভু জ্ঞানের ঈশ্বর, তাঁর সব কাজ দাঁড়িপাল্লায় পরিমাপ করা হয়।
4 The bow of the mighty is broken, and those that stumbled are girded with strength.
৪শক্তিমানদের ধনুক ভেঙে গেল, যারা পড়ে গিয়েছিল তারা শক্তিতে পরিপূর্ণ হলো।
5 They that were full hire themselves out for bread; and they that were hungry cease [from labor]: while the barren hath born seven, she that hath many children fadeth away.
৫পরিতৃপ্তেরা খাবারের জন্য বেতনভুক্ত হলো; যাদের খিদে ছিল তাদের আর খিদে পেল না; এমনকি, বন্ধ্যা স্ত্রী সাতটি সন্তানের জন্ম দিল, আর যার অনেক সন্তান সে দুর্বল হলো।
৬সদাপ্রভু মারেন ও বাঁচান; তিনিই পাতালে নামান ও উপরে তোলেন। (Sheol h7585)
7 The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich: he bringeth low and also lifteth up.
৭সদাপ্রভু দরিদ্র করেন ও ধনী করেন, তিনি নত করেন ও উন্নত করেন।
8 He raiseth up out of the dust the poor, from the dunghill he lifteth up the needy, to set them among nobles, and he assigneth them the throne of glory; for the Lord's are the pillars of the earth, on which he hath set the world.
৮তিনি ধূলো থেকে গরিবকে তোলেন, আর ছাইয়ের গাদা থেকে দরিদ্রকে তোলেন, সম্মানীয় লোকদের সঙ্গে বসিয়ে দেন, প্রতাপ সিংহাসনের অধিকারী করেন। কারণ পৃথিবীর থামগুলি সদাপ্রভুরই, তিনি সেগুলির উপরে জগত স্থাপন করেছেন।
9 He ever guardeth the feet of his pious ones, and the wicked shall be made silent in darkness; for not by strength can man prevail.
৯তিনি তাঁর সাধুদের চরণ রক্ষা করবেন, কিন্তু দুষ্টরা অন্ধকারে নীরব হবে; কারণ নিজের শক্তিতে কোনো মানুষ জয়ী হবে না।
10 The Lord—his adversaries will be crushed; out of heaven will he thunder upon them: the Lord will judge the ends of the earth; and he will give strength unto his king, and lift up the horn of his anointed.
১০সদাপ্রভুর সঙ্গে বিবাদকারীরা চূর্ণ বিচূর্ণ হবে, তিনি স্বর্গে থেকে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে গর্জন করবেন; সদাপ্রভু পৃথিবীর শেষ সীমা পর্যন্ত শাসন করবেন, তিনি তাঁর রাজাকে শক্তি দেবেন, তাঁর অভিষিক্ত ব্যক্তির শিং (মাথা) উন্নত করবেন।”
11 And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the lad was ministering unto the Lord before 'Eli the priest.
১১পরে ইলকানা রামায় নিজের বাড়িতে গেলেন। আর ছেলেটি এলি যাজকের সামনে সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করতে লাগলেন।
12 And the sons of 'Eli were worthless men: they knew not the Lord.
১২এলির দুই ছেলে ভীষণ দুষ্ট ছিল, তারা সদাপ্রভুকে জানত না।
13 And the custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while [the man] was seething the flesh, with a fork with three teeth in his hand;
১৩বাস্তবে ঐ যাজকেরা লোকদের সঙ্গে এইরকম ব্যবহার করত; কেউ বলিদান করলে যখন তার মাংস সেদ্ধ করা হত, তখন যাজকের চাকর তিনটি কাঁটাযুক্ত চামচ হাতে করে নিয়ে আসত।
14 And he struck it into the pan, or the kettle, or the caldron, or the pot; [and] all that the fork brought up the priest took away with it. So did they unto all the Israelites that came thither, to Shiloh.
১৪এবং সে ডেচকিতে কিংবা গামলাতে কিম্বা কড়াইতে কিম্বা পাত্রে খোঁচা মারত এবং সেই কাঁটাতে যে মাংস উঠে আসত তা সবই যাজক কাঁটায় করে নিয়ে যেত; ইস্রায়েলীয়দের যত লোক শীলোতে আসত তাদের প্রতি তারা এই রকম ব্যবহারই করত।
15 Even before they had yet burnt the fat, the priest's servant would come, and say to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not take from thee sodden flesh, but raw.
১৫আবার চর্বি আগুনে পোড়ার আগেই যাজকের চাকর এসে যে লোকটি উৎসর্গ করত তাকে বলত, “যাজককে আগুনে ঝল্সাবার জন্য মাংস দাও, তিনি তোমার কাছ থেকে সিদ্ধ মাংস নেবেন না, কাঁচাই নেবেন।”
16 And if the man said unto him, They will surely presently burn the fat, and then take whatever thy soul may long for: then would he say, No; but thou shalt give it me now; and if not, I will take it by force.
১৬আর ঐ ব্যক্তি যখন বলত, “প্রথমে চর্বি পোড়াতে হবে, তারপর তুমি তোমার ইচ্ছামত গ্রহণ কর,” তখন সে এর উত্তরে বলত, “না, এখনই দাও, না হলে কেড়ে নেব।”
17 And the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord; for the men despised the offering of the Lord.
১৭এই ভাবে সদাপ্রভুর সমানে ঐ যুবকদের পাপ ভীষণ বেড়ে গেল, কারণ লোকেরা সদাপ্রভুর নৈবেদ্য তুচ্ছ করত।
18 But Samuel was ministering before the Lord, being a lad, girded with a linen ephod.
১৮কিন্তু ছোট ছেলে শমূয়েল মসীনা সুতোর এফোদ পরে সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করতেন।
19 Moreover his mother used to make him a little overcoat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
১৯আর তাঁর মা প্রতি বছর একটি ছোট পোশাক তৈরী করে স্বামীর সঙ্গে বার্ষিক বলিদান করতে যাওয়ার দিনের তা এনে তাঁকে দিতেন।
20 And 'Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, May the Lord give thee seed from this woman instead of the loan who is lent to the Lord. And they went back unto his place.
২০আর এলি ইলকানা ও তাঁর স্ত্রীকে এই আশীর্বাদ করলেন, “সদাপ্রভুকে যা দেওয়া হয়েছিল, তার পরিবর্তে তিনি এই স্ত্রী থেকে তোমাকে আরও সন্তান দিন।” পরে তাঁরা তাঁদের বাড়ি চলে গেলেন।
21 And truly the Lord visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the lad Samuel grew up before the Lord.
২১আর সদাপ্রভু হান্নার যত্ন নিলেন; তাতে তিনি গর্ভবতী হলেন, তিনি তিনটি ছেলে ও দুই মেয়ের জন্ম দিলেন। এদিকে ছোট শমূয়েল সদাপ্রভুর সামনে বড় হয়ে উঠতে লাগলেন।
22 Now 'Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons were in the habit of doing unto all Israel; and how they would lie with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
২২আর এলি খুব বৃদ্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিলেন এবং সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়দের প্রতি তাঁর ছেলেরা যা যা করে, সেই সমস্ত কথা এবং সমাগম তাঁবুর দরজার সামনে সেবায় নিয়োজিত স্ত্রীলোকদের সঙ্গে ব্যভিচার করত, সেই কথা তিনি শুনতে পেলেন।
23 And he said unto them, Why will ye do such things? for I hear of your evil dealings from all this people.
২৩তখন তিনি তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা কেন এমন ব্যবহার করছ? আমি এই সব লোকের কাছ থেকে তোমাদের খারাপ কাজের কথা শুনতে পাচ্ছি।
24 No, my sons; for the report that I hear is not good, which the Lord's people spread abroad.
২৪হে আমার সন্তানেরা না না, আমি লোকদের যে সব কথা শুনতে পাচ্ছি তা ভাল নয়; তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর প্রজাদের আজ্ঞা অমান্য করতে বাধ্য করছ।
25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him; but if against the Lord a man should sin, who shall pray for him? Nevertheless would they not hearken unto the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to slay them.
২৫মানুষ যদি মানুষের বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করে, তবে ঈশ্বর তার বিচার করবেন; কিন্তু মানুষ যদি সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করে, তবে তার জন্য কে বিনতি করবে?” তবুও তারা তাদের বাবার কথায় কান দিত না, কারণ সদাপ্রভু তাদের মেরে ফেলবেন বলে ঠিক করেছিলেন।
26 And the lad Samuel was constantly growing and increasing in favor both with the Lord, and also with men.
২৬কিন্তু ছোট ছেলে শমূয়েল বৃদ্ধি পেয়ে সদাপ্রভু ও মানুষের কাছে অনুগ্রহ পেতেন।
27 And there came a man of God unto 'Eli, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Did I [not] appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, in Pharaoh's house?
২৭পরে ঈশ্বরের একজন লোক এলির কাছে এসে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘যে দিনের তোমার পূর্বপুরুষেরা মিশরে ফরৌণের বংশধরদের অধীনে ছিল, তখন আমি কি তাদের কাছে নিজেকে স্পষ্টভাবে প্রকাশ করি নি?
28 And did I [not] choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to me as a priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I [not] give unto the house of thy father all the fire-offerings of the children of Israel?
২৮আমার যাজক হওয়ার জন্য, আমার যজ্ঞবেদির ওপর বলি উত্সর্গ করতে ও ধূপ জ্বালাতে আমার সামনে এফোদ পরতে আমি না ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সমস্ত বংশ থেকে তাকে মনোনীত করেছিলাম? আর ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের আগুনে উৎসর্গ করা সমস্ত উপহার না তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের দিয়েছিলাম?
29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at my meat-offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation? and [why] honoredst thou thy sons above me, to fatten yourselves with the first of every offering of Israel my people?
২৯অতএব আমি [আমার] ঘরে যা উৎসর্গ করতে আদেশ দিয়েছি, আমার সেই বলি ও নৈবেদ্যকে কেন তোমরা পদাঘাত (তুচ্ছ) করছ? এবং আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের নৈবেদ্যের প্রথম অংশ, যা দিয়ে তোমরা নিজেদের মোটাসোটা কর, এই বিষয়ে তুমি কেন আমার থেকে তোমার ছেলেদের বেশি সম্মান করছ?’
30 Therefore saith the Lord the God of Israel, I had indeed said, Thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever; but now, saith the Lord, Be it far from me; for those that honor me will I honor, and those that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
৩০সেইজন্য ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু বলেন, ‘আমি অবশ্যই বলেছিলাম, তোমার বংশ ও তোমার পূর্বপুরুষ চিরকাল আমার সামনে যাতায়াত করবে,’ কিন্তু এখন সদাপ্রভু বলেন, ‘তা আমার থেকে দূরে থাকুক। কারণ যারা আমাকে সম্মান করে, তাদেরকে আমি সম্মান করব; কিন্তু যারা আমাকে তুচ্ছ করে, তাদেরও তুচ্ছ করা হবে।’
31 Behold, days are coming, that I will hew off thy arm, and the arm of thy father's house, so that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
৩১দেখ, এমন দিন আসছে, যে দিনের আমি তোমার শক্তি ও তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের শক্তি (বাহু) ধ্বংস করব, তোমার বংশে একটি বৃদ্ধও থাকবে না।
32 And thou shalt behold a rival in my habitation, in all that by which he will do good for Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thy house in all times.
৩২আর ঈশ্বর ইস্রায়েলের যে সমস্ত মঙ্গল করবেন তাতে তুমি [আমার] ঘরের দুর্দশা দেখতে পাবে এবং তোমার বংশে কেউ কখনও বৃদ্ধ হবে না।
33 And yet I will not cut off the men descended from thee from my altar, to consume thy eyes, and to grieve thy soul: and all the increase of thy house shall die as [vigorous] men.
৩৩আর আমি আমার যজ্ঞবেদি থেকে তোমার যে লোককে ছেঁটে না ফেলব, সে তোমার চোখের ক্ষয় ও প্রাণের ব্যথা জন্মাবার জন্য থাকবে এবং তোমার বংশে উত্পন্ন সমস্ত লোক যৌবন অবস্থায় মারা যাবে।
34 And this shall be unto thee the sign, that shall happen on thy two sons, on Chophni and Phinehas: On one day shall they, both of them, die.
৩৪আর তোমার দুই ছেলের উপরে, হফ্নি ও পীনহসের সঙ্গে যা ঘটবে, তা তোমার জন্য একটা চিহ্ন হবে; তারা দুইজনেই একই দিনের মারা যাবে।
35 And I will raise up to me a faithful priest, who shall do in accordance with what is in my heart and in my mind; and I will build for him an enduring house; and he shall walk before my anointed in all times.
৩৫আর আমি আমার জন্য একজন বিশ্বস্ত যাজককে উত্পন্ন করব, যে আমার হৃদয়ের ও আমার মনের মত কাজ করবে; আর আমি তার এক বংশকে স্থায়ী করব; সে সব দিন আমার অভিষিক্ত ব্যক্তির সামনে যাতায়াত করবে।
36 And it shall come to pass, that whoever is left in thy house shall come to bow down to him for a gera of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Attach me, I pray thee, unto one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
৩৬আর তোমার বংশের মধ্যে অবশিষ্ট প্রত্যেক জন এক রূপার মুদ্রা ও এক টুকরো রুটির জন্য তার কাছে অনুরোধ করতে আসবে, আর বলবে, ‘অনুরোধ করি, আমি যাতে এক টুকরো রুটি খেতে পাই, সেই জন্য একটি যাজকের পদে আমাকে নিযুক্ত করুন’।”
