1 Kings 4
1 Thus was king Solomon king over all Israel.
Ainsi le Roi Salomon était Roi de la totalité d'Israël.
2 And these were the princes whom he had: 'Azaryahu the son of Zadok the priest;
Or voici quels étaient ses grands dignitaires: Azarias, fils du Prêtre Tsadoc,
3 Elichoreph and Achiyah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Achilud, the recorder;
Elihoreph et Ahija, fils de Sisa, étaient Secrétaires [sous] Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, qui était chancelier,
4 And Benayahu the son of Yehoyada' over the army; and Zadok and Ebyathar priests;
et Benaïa, fils de Joïada, était préposé sur l'armée, et Tsadoc et Abiathar, Prêtres;
5 And Azaryahu the son of Nathan was over the superintendents; and Zabud the son of Nathan was an officer of state and the king's friend;
et Azarias, fils de Nathan, Prêtre, était préposé sur les gens d'office, et Sabud, fils de Nathan, Prêtre, ami du Roi;
6 And Achishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of 'Abda was over the tribute.
et Ahisar était chef de la Maison [du Roi], et Adoniram, fils de Abda, était préposé sur la corvée.
7 And Solomon had twelve superintendents over all Israel, who provided for the king and his household: one month in the year had the particular one to procure provisions.
Et Salomon avait douze intendants préposés sur tout Israël, et ils fournissaient le Roi et sa Maison; chacun d'eux avait l'office de fournisseur un mois par année.
8 And these are their names: Ben-chur on the mountain of Ephraim;
Or voici leurs noms: le fils de Hur sur la montagne d'Ephraïm,
9 Ben-deker, in Makaz, and in Sha'albim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-chanan;
le fils de Déquer à Makats et Saalbim et Bethsémès, et Elon et Beth-Hanan,
10 Ben-chessed, in Arubboth; to him pertained Sochoh and all the land of Chepher;
le fils de Hésed à Aruboth; à lui ressortissait Socho et toute la contrée de Hépber;
11 Ben-abinadab, in all the district of Dor; he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon for wife;
le fils de Abinadab dans tout Naphath Dor (Taphath, fille de Salomon, était sa femme);
12 Ba'ana the son of Achilud in Tha'anach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zarethanah beneath Yizre'el, from Beth-shean to Abel-mecholah, as far as beyond Yokme'am;
Baëna, fils d'Ahilud à Thaënach et Megiddo, et tout Bethséan, situé près de Tsorthan, au-dessous de Jizréel, de Bethséan à Abel-Mehola jusqu'au delà de Jockméam;
13 Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gil'ad; to him pertained the villages of Ya'ir the son of Menasseh, which are in Gil'ad; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and brazen bars;
le fils de Géber à Ramoth de Galaad: à lui ressortissaient les bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, en Galaad; à lui ressortissait le cercle d'Argob en Basan, soixante villes grandes avec murailles et verrous d'airain;
14 Achinadab the son of 'Iddo in Machanayim;
Ahinadab, fils de Iddo, à Mahanaïm;
15 Achima'az in Naphtali; he also took Bahsemath the daughter of Solomon for wife;
Ahimaats à Naphthali (lui aussi prit Basmath, fille de Salomon, pour femme);
16 Ba'anah the son of Chushai in Asher and in Be'aloth;
Baëna, fils de Husaï, dans Asser et Bealoth;
17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruach, in Issachar;
Josaphat, fils de Pharuah, dans Issaschar;
18 Shim'i the son of Ela, in Benjamin;
Siméï, fils de Ela, dans Benjamin;
19 Geber the son of Uri in the country of Gil'ad, the country of Sichon the king of the Emorites, and of 'Og the king of Bashan; besides the one superintendent who was in the land.
Géber, fils d'Uri, dans la région de Galaad, pays de Sihon, Roi des Amorites, et de Og, Roi de Basan; or c'était un seul intendant pour ce district.
20 Judah and Israel were numerous, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude; and they ate and drank, and made merry.
Et Juda et Israël avaient une multitude immense comme le sable sur le bord de la mer; et ils étaient mangeant et buvant et se réjouissant.
21 And Solomon was ruling over all the kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and as far as the boundary of Egypt, which brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
Et Salomon régnait sur tous les royaumes à partir du Fleuve [jusqu']au pays des Philistins et à la frontière d'Egypte; ils apportaient des présents, et ils furent, assujettis à Salomon durant toute sa vie.
22 And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, and sixty kors of meal,
Et l'ordinaire quotidien de Salomon était: trente cors de fleur de farine et soixante cors de farine brute,
23 Ten fatted oxen, and twenty pasture oxen, and a hundred sheep, besides harts, and roebucks, and fallow-deer, and fatted fowl.
dix bœufs engraissés, et vingt bœufs de pâture et cent moutons, non compris les cerfs et gazelles et daims et la volaille grasse.
24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Thiphsach even to Gazzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
Car il avait sous sa domination tout le pays en deçà du Fleuve, de Thipbsach à Gaza, sur tous les rois en deçà du Fleuve; et il était en paix de toutes parts avec ceux qui lui obéissaient.
25 And Judah and Israel dwelt in safety, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba', all the days of Solomon.
Et dans Juda et Israël chacun habitait en sûreté sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, de Dan à Béerséba, tant que vécut Salomon.
26 And Solomon had forty thousand stalls for the horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.
Et Salomon avait quarante mille râteliers pour ses chevaux et chars et douze mille cavaliers.
27 And those superintendents provided for king Solomon, and for all that came near unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they let nothing be wanting.
Et ces intendants fournissaient le Roi Salomon et tous les commensaux du Roi Salomon, chacun pendant son mois; ils ne laissaient rien manquer.
28 The barley also and the straw for the horses and the runners did they bring unto the place where he might be, every man according to his prescription.
Et, chacun selon son emploi, ils apportaient et l'orge et la litière pour les chevaux et les coursiers dans le lieu où il séjournait.
29 And God gave unto Solomon wisdom and understanding exceedingly much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.
Et Dieu dota Salomon de la sagesse et du discernement en très grande mesure, et d'un esprit étendu comme le sable du rivage de la mer.
30 And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
Et la sagesse de Salomon était plus grande que la sagesse de tous les enfants de l'Orient et que toute la sagesse de l'Egypte.
31 And he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrachite, and Heman, and Kalkol, and Darda', the sons of Machol: and his name was [spread] among all the nations round about.
Et il était plus sage que tous les hommes, que Ethan l'Esrahite, et Eiman et Chalchol et Darda, fils de Mahol; et il était renommé parmi tous les peuples d'alentour.
32 And he spoke three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.
Et Salomon prononça trois mille sentences et ses hymnes furent au nombre de mille et cinq.
33 And he spoke concerning the trees, from the cedar-tree that is on the Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spoke also concerning the beasts, and concerning the fowl, and concerning the creeping things, and concerning the fishes.
Et il traita des arbres, depuis le cèdre du Liban à l'hysope qui croît à la muraille, et il traita des quadrupèdes et des oiseaux et des reptiles et des poissons.
34 And men came from all the people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
Et de chez tous les peuples on venait écouter la sagesse de Salomon, de la part de tous les Rois de la terre qui entendaient parler de sa sagesse.
