1 Kings 16
1 Then came the word of the Lord to Jehu the son of Chanani against Ba'sha, saying,
Alors la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Bahasa, pour lui dire:
2 Forasmuch as I lifted thee up out of the dust, and I set thee as prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jerobo'am, and hast induced my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins:
Parce que je t'ai élevé de la poudre, et que je t'ai établi Conducteur de mon peuple d'Israël, et que malgré cela tu as suivi le train de Jéroboam, et as fait pécher mon peuple d'Israël, pour m'irriter par leurs péchés.
3 Behold, I will sweep out after Ba'sha, and after his house; and I will render thy house like the house of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat;
Voici, je m'en vais entièrement exterminer Bahasa, et sa maison, et je mettrai ta maison au même état que j'ai mis la maison de Jéroboam fils de Nébat.
4 Him that dieth of Ba'sha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the field shall the fowls of the heavens eat.
Celui [de la race] de Bahasa qui mourra dans la ville, les chiens le mangeront; et celui des siens qui mourra aux champs, les oiseaux des cieux le mangeront.
5 And the rest of the acts of Ba'sha, and what he did, and his mighty deeds, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Le reste des faits de Bahasa, ce qu'il a fait, et sa valeur, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël.
6 And Ba'sha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Thirzah: and Elah his son became king in his stead.
Ainsi Bahasa s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli à Tirtsa, et Ela son fils régna en sa place.
7 And also by the hand of Jehu the son of Chanani, the prophet, came the word of the Lord against Ba'sha, and against his house, both for all the evil that he did in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, thus being like the house of Jerobo'am; and because he had killed him.
La parole de l'Eternel fut aussi [adressée] par le moyen de Jéhu, fils de Hanani le Prophète, contre Bahasa, et contre sa maison, à cause de tout le mal qu'il avait fait devant l'Eternel, en l'irritant par l'œuvre de ses mains, [pour lui dire] qu'il en serait comme de la maison de Jéroboam; même parce qu'il l'avait frappée.
8 In the twenty and sixth year of Assa the king of Judah became Elah the son of Ba'sha king over Israel in Thirzah, [for] two years.
L'an vingt et sixième d'Asa Roi de Juda, Ela fils de Bahasa commença à régner sur Israël, et il [régna] deux ans à Tirtsa.
9 And there conspired against him his servant Zimri, captain of half the chariots, as he was in Thirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was set over the house in Thirzah.
Et Zimri son serviteur, capitaine de la moitié des chariots, fit une conspiration contre Ela, lorsqu'il était à Tirtsa buvant et s'enivrant dans la maison d'Artsa son maître d'hôtel, à Tirtsa.
10 And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Assa the king of Judah, and became king in his stead.
Zimri donc vint, et le frappa, et le tua l'an vingt et septième d'Asa Roi de Juda, et régna en sa place.
11 And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Ba'sha: he left him not a single male, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.
Et comme il entrait en son règne, sitôt qu'il fut assis sur son trône, il frappa toute la maison de Bahasa; il n'en laissa rien depuis l'homme jusqu'à un chien; [il ne lui laissa] ni parent, ni ami.
12 Thus did Zimri exterminate all the house of Ba'sha, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken against Ba'sha by the agency of Jehu the prophet,
Ainsi Zimri extermina toute la maison de Bahasa, selon la parole que l'Eternel avait proférée contre Bahasa, par le moyen de Jéhu le Prophète;
13 For all the sins of Ba'sha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they had sinned, and by which they had induced Israel to sin, to provoke the Lord the God of Israel to anger with their vanities.
A cause de tous les péchés de Bahasa, et des péchés d'Ela son fils, par lesquels ils avaient péché, et avaient fait pécher Israël, irritant l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël par leurs vanités.
14 Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Le reste des faits d'Ela, et même tout ce qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël?
15 In the twenty and seventh year of Assa the king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Thirzah: and the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.
La vingt et septième année d'Asa Roi de Juda, Zimri régna sept jours à Tirtsa; or le peuple était campé contre Guibbethon qui était aux Philistins.
16 And when the people that were encamped heard it said, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: all Israel made 'Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel on that day in the camp.
Et le peuple qui était-là campé, entendit qu'on disait: Zimri a fait une conspiration, et il a même tué le Roi; c'est pourquoi en ce même jour tout Israël établit dans le camp pour Roi Homri, capitaine de l'armée d'Israël.
17 And 'Omri went up, and all Israel with him from Gibbethon, and they besieged Thirzah.
Et Homri et tout Israël montèrent de devant Guibbethon, et assiégèrent Tirtsa.
18 And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he went into the strong-hold of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and he died;
Mais dès que Zimri eut vu que la ville était prise, il entra au palais de la maison Royale, et brûla sur soi la maison Royale, et il mourut;
19 For his sins which he had sinned, in doing what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, to walk in the way of Jerobo'am, and in his sin which he did, to induce Israel to sin.
A cause des péchés par lesquels il avait péché, faisant ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, en suivant le train de Jéroboam, et son péché, qu'il avait fait pour faire pécher Israël.
20 And the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his conspiracy that he contrived, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Le reste des faits de Zimri, et la conspiration qu'il fit, toutes ces choses ne sont-elles pas écrites au Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël?
21 At that time were the people of Israel divided into two parts: one half of the people followed Thibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and the other half followed 'Omri.
Alors le peuple d'Israël se divisa en deux partis; la moitié du peuple suivait Tibni fils de Guinath, pour le faire Roi; et l'autre moitié suivait Homri.
22 But the people that followed 'Omri prevailed against the people that followed Thibni the son of Ginath: and Thibni [also] died, and 'Omri became king.
Mais le peuple qui suivait Homri, fut plus fort que le peuple qui suivait Tibni fils de Guinath, et Tibni mourut, et Homri régna.
23 In the thirty and first year of Assa the king of Judah became 'Omri king over Israel, [for] twelve years; in Thirzah he reigned six years.
La trente et unième année d'Asa Roi de Juda, Homri commença à régner sur Israël, [et il régna] douze ans; il régna six ans à Tirtsa.
24 And he bought the mount Samaria, of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the mount, and called the name of the city which he had built, after the name of Shemer, the Lord of the mount, Samaria.
Puis il acheta de Sémer la montagne de Samarie, deux talents d'argent; et il bâtit [une ville] sur cette montagne, et il nomma la ville qu'il bâtit, du nom de Sémer, Seigneur de la montagne de Samarie.
25 And 'Omri did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and did worse than all that were before him.
Et Homri fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel; il fit même pis que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.
26 And he walked in all the way of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he induced Israel to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger with their vanities.
Car il suivit tout le train de Jéroboam fils de Nébat, et son péché, par lequel il avait fait pécher Israël, afin qu'ils irritassent l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël par leurs vanités.
27 Now the rest of the acts of 'Omri which he did, and his mighty deeds that he displayed, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
Le reste des faits de Homri, tout ce qu'il a fait, et les exploits qu'il fit, ne sont-ils pas écrits aux Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël?
28 And 'Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria: and Achab his son became king in his stead.
Ainsi Homri s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli à Samarie, et Achab son fils régna en sa place.
29 And Achab the son of 'omri became king over Israel in the thirty and eighth year of Assa the king of Judah; and Achab the son of 'Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.
Achab fils de Homri commença à régner sur Israël la trente-huitième année d'Asa Roi de Juda; et Achab fils de Homri régna sur Israël à Samarie vingt et deux ans.
30 And Achab the son of 'Omri did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord more than all that had been before him.
Et Achab fils de Homri fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, plus que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.
31 And it came to pass, as if it had been too light a thing for him to walk in the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, that he took for wife Izebel the daughter of Ethba'al the king of the Zidonians, and went and served Ba'al, and worshipped him.
Et il arriva que, comme si ce lui eût été peu de chose de marcher dans les péchés de Jéroboam fils de Nébat, il prit pour femme Izebel, fille d'Eth-bahal, Roi des Sidoniens, puis il alla, et servit Bahal, et se prosterna devant lui.
32 And he erected an altar for Ba'al in the house of Ba'al, which he had built in Samaria.
Et il dressa un autel à Bahal, en la maison de Bahal, qu'il bâtit à Samarie.
33 And Achab made a grove; and Achab did yet more, so as to provoke the Lord the God of Israel to anger, than all the kings of Israel that had been before him.
Et Achab fit un bocage; de sorte qu'Achab fit encore pis que tous les Rois d'Israël qui avaient été avant lui, pour irriter l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël.
34 In his days did Chiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: with Abiram his first-born laid he the foundation thereof, and with Segub his youngest son set he up the gates thereof, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by means of Joshua the son of Nun.
En son temps Hiel de Bethel bâtit Jérico, laquelle il fonda sur Abiram son premier-né, et posa ses portes sur Ségub son puîné, selon la parole que l'Eternel avait proférée par le moyen de Josué, fils de Nun.
