1 Kings 15

1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jerobo'am the son of Nebat became Abiyam king over Judah.

در هجدهمین سال سلطنت یربعام، پادشاه اسرائیل، اَبیّام پادشاه یهودا شد و سه سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. مادر او معکه دختر ابشالوم بود.

2 Three years he reigned in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Ma'achah, the daughter of Abishalom.

3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not entire with the Lord his God, like the heart of David his father.

اَبیّام نیز مانند پدرش مرد فاسدی بود و مثل داوود پادشاه نبود که نسبت به خداوند وفادار باشد.

4 Nevertheless for the sake of David did the Lord his God give him a rule in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to allow Jerusalem to exist.

اما با وجود این، خداوند به خاطر نظر لطفی که به جد او داوود داشت، به اَبیّام پسری بخشید تا سلطنت خاندان داوود در اورشلیم برقرار بماند؛

5 Because David did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, and turned not aside from all that he had commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriyah the Hittite.

چون داوود در تمام عمر خود مطابق میل خداوند رفتار می‌نمود. او از دستورهای خداوند سرپیچی نکرد، به‌جز در مورد اوریای حیتی.

6 And there had been war between Rehobo'am and Jerobo'am all the days of his life.

در طول سه سال سلطنت اَبیّام، بین رحُبعام و یربعام همیشه جنگ بود.

7 And the rest of the acts of Abiyam, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. And there was [also] war between Abiyam and Jerobo'am.

رویدادهای دیگر سلطنت اَبیّام در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا نوشته شده است. میان اَبیّام و یربعام دائم جنگ بود.

8 And Abiyam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Assa his son became king in his stead.

وقتی اَبیّام مرد، او را در اورشلیم دفن کردند و پسرش آسا به جای او پادشاه شد.

9 And in the twentieth year of Jerobo'am the king of Israel became Assa king over Judah.

در بیستمین سال سلطنت یربعام پادشاه اسرائیل، آسا پادشاه یهودا شد.

10 And forty and one years did he reign in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Ma'achah, the daughter of Abishalom.

او چهل و یک سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. مادر بزرگ او معکه دختر ابشالوم بود.

11 And Assa did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, like David his father.

آسا هم مثل جد خود داوود، مطابق میل خداوند رفتار می‌کرد.

12 And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols which his fathers had made.

افرادی را که لواط می‌کردند از سرزمین خود اخراج کرد و تمام بتهایی را که پدرش بر پا کرده بود، در هم کوبید.

13 And also Ma'achah his mother, even her he removed from being queen; because she had made a scandalous image for the grove; and Assa cut down her scandalous image, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

حتی مادر بزرگ خود معکه را به سبب اینکه بت می‌پرستید، از مقام ملکه‌ای برکنار کرد و بت او را شکست و در درهٔ قدرون سوزانید.

14 But the high-places were not removed; nevertheless Assa's heart was entire with the Lord all his days.

هر چند بتکده‌های بالای تپه‌ها به کلی از بین نرفت، اما آسا در تمام زندگی خویش نسبت به خداوند وفادار ماند.

15 And he brought the things which his father had sanctified, and his own sanctified things, into the house of the Lord, silver, and gold, and vessels.

آسا اشیاء طلا و نقره‌ای را که خود و پدرش وقف خانهٔ خداوند نموده بودند، در خانهٔ خداوند گذاشت.

16 And there was war between Assa and Ba'sha the king of Israel all their days.

آسا، پادشاه یهودا و بعشا، پادشاه اسرائیل همیشه با یکدیگر در حال جنگ بودند.

17 And Ba'sha the king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, in order not to suffer any one to go out or come in to Assa the king of Judah.

بعشا، پادشاه اسرائیل به یهودا لشکر کشید و شهر رامه را بنا کرد تا نگذارد کسی نزد آسا، پادشاه یهودا رفت و آمد کند.

18 Then did Assa take all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hand of his servants; and king Assa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Chesyon, the king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,

آسا چون وضع را چنین دید، هر چه طلا و نقره در خزانه‌های خانۀ خداوند و کاخ سلطنتی بود گرفته، با این پیام برای بنهدد پسر طَبریمّون پسر حِزیون، پادشاه سوریه به دمشق فرستاد:

19 A covenant is between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; go and do break thy covenant with Ba'sha the king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.

«بیا مثل پدرانمان با هم متحد شویم. این طلا و نقره را که برایت می‌فرستم از من بپذیر. پیوند دوستی خود را با بعشا، پادشاه اسرائیل قطع کن تا او از قلمرو من خارج شود.»

20 And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Assa, and sent the captains of the armies which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote 'Iyon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-ma'achah, and the whole of Kinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

بنهدد موافقت کرد و با سپاهیان خود به اسرائیل حمله برد و شهرهای عیون، دان، آبل بیت‌معکه، ناحیهٔ دریاچهٔ جلیل و سراسر نفتالی را تسخیر کرد.

21 And it came to pass, when Ba'sha heard this, that he left off the building of Ramah, and remained in Tirzah.

وقتی بعشا این را شنید، از ادامهٔ بنای رامه دست کشید و به ترصه بازگشت.

22 Then king Assa called together by proclamation all Judah, none being exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, wherewith Ba'sha had built; and king Assa built with them Geba' of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

آنگاه آسا به سراسر یهودا پیغام فرستاد که همهٔ مردان بدون استثنا بیایند و سنگها و چوبهایی را که بعشا برای بنای رامه به کار می‌برد برداشته، ببرند. آسا با این مصالح، شهر جبع واقع در زمین بنیامین و شهر مصفه را بنا نهاد.

23 And the rest of all the acts of Assa, and all his mighty deeds, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. Nevertheless in the time of his old age he became diseased in his feet.

بقیهٔ رویدادهای سلطنت آسا، یعنی فتوحات و کارهای او و نام شهرهایی را که ساخته، همه در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا» نوشته شده است. آسا در سالهای پیری به پا درد سختی مبتلا شد.

24 And Assa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son became king in his stead.

وقتی آسا فوت کرد، او را در آرامگاه سلطنتی، در شهر پدرش داوود دفن کردند. بعد از او پسرش یهوشافاط به مقام پادشاهی یهودا رسید.

25 And Nadab the son of Jerobo'am became king over Israel in the second year of Assa the king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.

در سال دوم سلطنت آسا پادشاه یهودا، ناداب، پسر یربعام، پادشاه اسرائیل شد و دو سال سلطنت کرد.

26 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and he walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he had induced Israel to sin.

او نیز مثل پدرش نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید و اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند.

27 And Ba'sha the son of Achiyah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Ba'sha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines: while Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.

بعشا پسر اخیا از قبیلهٔ یساکار بر ضد ناداب برخاست و هنگامی که ناداب با سپاه خود شهر جبتون را که یکی از شهرهای فلسطین بود محاصره می‌کرد بعشا ناداب را کشت.

28 And Ba'sha slew him in the third year of Assa the king of Judah, and became king in his stead.

بعشا در سومین سال سلطنت آسا پادشاه یهودا، به جای ناداب بر تخت سلطنت اسرائیل نشست.

29 And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jerobo'am; he left not any that breathed unto Jerobo'am, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by his servant Achiyah the Shilonite;

او وقتی به قدرت رسید تمام فرزندان یربعام را کشت، به طوری که حتی یک نفر هم از خاندان او زنده نماند. این درست همان چیزی بود که خداوند به‌وسیلۀ خدمتگزارش اخیای شیلونی خبر داده بود؛

30 Because of the sins of Jerobo'am which he had sinned, and through which he had induced Israel to sin, by his provoking wherewith he provoked the Lord the God of Israel to anger.

زیرا یربعام نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید و تمام اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند و خداوند، خدای قوم اسرائیل را خشمگین نمود.

31 And the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

جزئیات سلطنت ناداب در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل» نوشته شده است.

32 And there was war between Assa and Ba'sha the king of Israel all their days.

بین آسا، پادشاه یهودا و بعشا، پادشاه اسرائیل همیشه جنگ بود.

33 In the third year of Assa the king of Judah became Ba'sha the son of Achiyah king over all Israel, in Thirzah, [for] twenty and four years.

در سومین سال سلطنت آسا پادشاه یهودا، بعشا بر اسرائیل پادشاه شد و بیست و چهار سال در ترصه سلطنت کرد.

34 And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jerobo'am, and in his sin wherewith he had induced Israel to sin.

او نیز مثل یربعام نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید و اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند.
