1 Kings 12

1 And Rehobo'am went to Shechem; for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

Und Rehabeam zog gen Sichem; denn das ganze Israel war gen Sichem kommen, ihn zum Könige zu machen.

2 And it came to pass, when Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, heard of it, (but he was yet in Egypt, whither he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jerobo'am dwelt in Egypt;

Und Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, hörete das, da er noch in Ägypten war, dahin er vor dem Könige Salomo geflohen war; und blieb in Ägypten.

3 And they had sent and called him; ) that Jerobo'am and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke unto Rehobo'am, saying,

Und sie sandten hin und ließen ihn rufen. Und Jerobeam samt der ganzen Gemeine Israels kamen und redeten mit Rehabeam und sprachen:

4 Thy father made our yoke hard; but do thou now make lighter the hard service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, and we will serve thee.

Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu hart gemacht; so mache du nun den harten Dienst und das schwere Joch leichter, das er uns aufgelegt hat, so wollen wir dir untertänig sein.

5 And he said unto them, Go away yet for three days, and then return to me. And the people went away.

Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin bis an den dritten Tag, so kommt wieder zu mir. Und das Volk ging hin.

6 Then consulted king Rehobo'am with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I should give an answer to this people?

Und der König Rehabeam hielt einen Rat mit den Ältesten, die vor seinem Vater Salomo stunden, da er lebte, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, daß wir diesem Volk eine Antwort geben?

7 And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt this day be a servant unto this people, and wilt serve them, and be attentive to them, and speak to them good words; then will they be servants unto thee for all times.

Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wirst du heute diesem Volk einen Dienst tun und ihnen zu Willen sein und sie erhören und ihnen gute Worte geben, so werden sie dir untertänig sein dein Leben lang.

8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, those who stood before him:

Aber er verließ der Ältesten Rat, den sie ihm gegeben hatten, und hielt einen Rat mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren und vor ihm stunden.

9 And he said unto them, What do you counsel how we should give an answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make lighter the yoke which thy father did put upon us?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, daß wir antworten diesem Volk, die zu mir gesagt haben: Mache das Joch leichter, das dein Vater auf uns geleget hat.

10 Then spoke unto him the young men that were grown up with him, saying, Thus must thou say unto this people that have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but do thou make it lighter unto us: thus must thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.

Und die Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, sprachen zu ihm: Du sollst zu dem Volk, das zu dir sagt: Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu schwer gemacht, mache du es uns leichter, also sagen: Mein kleinster Finger soll dicker sein denn meines Vaters Lenden.

11 And now, if my father hath burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will even add to your yoke; if my father hath chastised you with whips, then will I chastise you with scorpion-thorns.

Nun, mein Vater hat auf euch ein schwer Joch geladen, ich aber will's noch mehr über euch machen; mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich will euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen.

12 When now Jerobo'am and all the people came to Rehobo'am on the third day, as the king had spoken, saying, Return to me on the third day.

Also kam Jerobeam samt dem ganzen Volk zu Rehabeam am dritten Tage, wie der König gesagt hatte und gesprochen: Kommt wieder zu mir am dritten Tage!

13 The king answered the people harshly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they had advised him;

Und der König gab dem Volk eine harte Antwort und verließ den Rat, den ihm die Ältesten gegeben hatten,

14 And he spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will even add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpion-thorns.

und redete mit ihnen nach dem Rat der Jungen und sprach: Mein Vater hat euer Joch schwer gemacht, ich aber will es noch mehr über euch machen; mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtiget, ich aber will euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen.

15 Thus the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was so brought about from the Lord, in order that he might fulfill his word, which the Lord had spoken by means of Achiyah the Shilonite unto Jerobo'am the son of Nebat.

Also gehorchte der König dem Volk nicht; denn es war also gewandt von dem HERRN, auf daß er sein Wort bekräftigte, das er durch Ahia von Silo geredet hatte zu Jerobeam, dem Sohn Nebats.

16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people gave the king an answer saying, What portion have we in David? nor have we an inheritance in the son of Jesse; to your tents, O Israel: now see to thy own house, David. So did Israel go away unto their tents.

Da aber das ganze Israel sah, daß der König sie nicht hören wollte, gab das Volk dem Könige eine Antwort und sprach: Was haben wir denn Teils an David, oder Erbe am Sohn Isais? Israel, hebe dich zu deinen Hütten! So siehe nun du zu deinem Hause, David! Also ging Israel in seine Hütten,

17 But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, over them did Rehobo'am reign.

daß Rehabeam regierete nur über die Kinder Israel, die in den Städten Judas wohneten.

18 Then sent king Rehobo'am Adoram, who was over the tribute; but all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehobo'am made speed with all his might to get up into his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Und da der König Rehabeam hinsandte Adoram, den Rentmeister, warf ihn ganz Israel mit Steinen zu Tode. Aber der König Rehabeam stieg frisch auf einen Wagen, daß er flöhe gen Jerusalem.

19 So did Israel rebel against the house of David unto this day.

Also fiel Israel ab vom Hause Davids bis auf diesen Tag.

20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jerobo'am was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, save the tribe of Judah alone.

Da nun ganz Israel hörete, daß Jerobeam war wiederkommen, sandten sie hin und ließen ihn rufen zu der ganzen Gemeine und machten ihn zum Könige über das ganze Israel. Und folgte niemand dem Hause David ohne der Stamm Juda alleine.

21 And when Rehobo'am was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehobo'am the son of Solomon.

Und da Rehabeam gen Jerusalem kam, sammelte er das ganze Haus Juda und den Stamm Benjamin, hundertundachtzigtausend junge streitbare Mannschaft, wider das Haus Israel zu streiten und das Königreich wieder an Rehabeam, den Sohn Salomos, zu bringen.

22 But the word of God came unto Shema'yah the man of God, saying,

Es kam aber Gottes Wort zu Semaja, dem Mann Gottes, und sprach:

23 Say unto Rehobo'am, the son of Solomon, the king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

Sage Rehabeam, dem Sohn Salomos, dem König Judas, und zum ganzen Hause Juda und Benjamin und dem andern Volk und sprich:

24 Thus hath said the Lord, Ye shall not go up, nor fight with your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for from me hath this thing been brought about. And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and returned to go home, according to the word of the Lord.

So spricht der HERR: Ihr sollt nicht hinaufziehen und streiten wider eure Brüder, die Kinder Israel; ein jeder Mann gehe wieder heim: denn solches ist von mir geschehen. Und sie gehorchten dem Wort des HERRN und kehreten um, daß sie hingingen, wie der HERR gesagt hatte.

25 And Jerobo'am built Shechem in the mountain of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and he went out from there and built Penuel.

Jerobeam aber bauete Sichem auf dem Gebirge Ephraim und wohnete drinnen, und zog von dannen heraus und bauete Pnuel.

26 And Jerobo'am said in his heart, Now may the kingdom return to the house of David:

Jerobeam aber gedachte in seinem Herzen: Das Königreich wird nun wieder zum Hause Davids fallen,

27 If this people go up to prepare sacrifices in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, then may the heart of this people turn again unto their Lord, even unto Rehobo'am the king of Judah, and they might kill me, and return to Rehobo'am the king of Judah.

so dies Volk soll hinaufgehen, Opfer zu tun in des HERRN Hause zu Jerusalem; und wird sich das Herz dieses Volks wenden zu ihrem HERRN Rehabeam, dem Könige Judas, und wird mich erwürgen und wieder zu Rehabeam, dem Könige Judas, fallen.

28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and he made two calves of gold, and said unto the people, You have been long enough going up to Jerusalem: behold, here are thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Und der König hielt einen Rat; und machte zwei güldene Kälber und sprach zu ihnen: Es ist euch zu viel, hinauf gen Jerusalem zu gehen; siehe, da sind deine Götter, Israel, die dich aus Ägyptenland geführet haben!

29 And he placed the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.

Und setzte eins zu Bethel und das andere tat er gen Dan.

30 And this thing became a sin; and the people went before the one, as far as Dan.

Und das geriet zur Sünde; denn das Volk ging hin Vordem einen bis gen Dan.

31 And he made a house of the high-places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

Er machte auch ein Haus der Höhen; und machte Priester von den Geringsten im Volk, die nicht von den Kindern Levi waren.

32 And Jerobo'am made a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar; so did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he stationed at Beth-el the priests of the high-places whom he had made.

Und er machte ein Fest am fünfzehnten Tage des achten Monden, wie das Fest in Juda, und opferte auf dem Altar. So tat er zu Bethel, daß man den Kälbern opferte, die er gemacht hatte; und stiftete zu Bethel die Priester der Höhen, die er gemacht hatte.

33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month which he had falsely devised of his own heart; and he ordained a feast unto the children of Israel, and he went up to the altar, to burn incense.

Und opferte auf dem Altar, den er gemacht hatte zu Bethel, am fünfzehnten Tage des achten Monden, welchen er aus seinem Herzen erdacht hatte; und machte den Kindern Israel Feste; und opferte auf dem Altar, daß man räuchern sollte.
