1 Chronicles 29
1 And king David said unto all the assembly, Solomon, the only son of mine whom God hath made choice of, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; because not for man is the palace to be, but for the Lord God.
Ensuite David, le roi, dit à toute l’assemblée; Dieu a choisi uniquement Salomon, mon fils, encore jeune et délicat, quoique l’œuvre soit grande; car ce n’est pas pour un homme que se prépare cette habitation, mais pour Dieu.
2 But with all my might have I made ready for the house of my God, the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the copper for the things of copper, the iron for the things of iron, and the wood for the things of wood, onyx stones, and stones to be set, bright stones, and stones of divers colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
Pour moi, j’ai préparé de toutes mes forces les dépenses de la maison de mon Dieu; l’or pour les vases d’or, l’argent pour les vases d’argent, l’airain pour ceux d’airain, le fer pour ceux de fer, le bois pour ceux de bois, des pierres d’onyx, d’autres semblables à l’antimoine, d’autres de diverses couleurs, enfin toute sorte de pierres précieuses, et du marbre de Paros en très grande quantité.
3 Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, have I acquired as my own property gold and silver; [and this] have I given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house:
Et, par-dessus ces choses que j’ai offertes pour la maison de mon Dieu, je donne de mon propre bien de l’or et de l’argent pour le temple de mon Dieu, outre ce que j’ai préparé pour son sanctuaire:
4 Three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses;
Trois mille talents d’or, de l’or d’Ophir, et sept mille talents d’argent très pur, pour en revêtir les murailles du temple.
5 All that is needed of gold and of silver, and for every manner of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. And who [now] is willing to consecrate his hand this day unto the Lord?
Et partout où il est besoin d’or et partout où il est besoin d’argent, que les ouvrages soient faits d’or et d’argent par les mains des ouvriers; et si quelqu’un fait spontanément une offrande, qu’il remplisse sa main aujourd’hui, et qu’il offre ce qu’il voudra au Seigneur.
6 Thereupon offered voluntarily the chiefs of the family divisions and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, with the supervisors of the king's work;
C’est pourquoi les princes des familles et les grands des tribus d’Israël le promirent, ainsi que les tribuns, les centurions et les intendants des possessions du roi.
7 And they gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drachms, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of copper eighteen thousand talents, and of iron one hundred thousand talents.
Et ils donnèrent pour les ouvrages de la maison de Dieu cinq mille talents d’or et dix mille solides, dix mille talents d’argent, dix-huit mille talents d’airain, ainsi que cent mille talents de fer.
8 And those with whom stones were found gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, under the supervision of Jechiel the Gershunite.
De même tous ceux chez qui on trouva des pierres précieuses les donnèrent pour le trésor de la maison du Seigneur, par l’entremise de Jahiel, le Gersonite.
9 Then did the people rejoice, because they had voluntarily offered: for with an undivided heart did they offer to the Lord: and also king David rejoiced with great joy.
Et le peuple se livra à l’allégresse en promettant spontanément ses offrandes, parce qu’il les offrait de tout cœur au Seigneur; et aussi, David, le roi, se réjouit d’une grande joie.
10 And David blessed the Lord before the eyes of all the congregation; and David said, Blessed be thou, O Lord the God of Israel our father, from everlasting even unto everlasting.
Et il bénit le Seigneur devant toute la multitude, et il dit: Seigneur, Dieu d’Israël, notre père, vous êtes béni de siècle en siècle.
11 Thine, O Lord, are the greatness, and the might, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty, yea, all that is in the heavens and on the earth: thine, O Lord, is the kingdom, and thou art exalted as the head above all.
À vous, Seigneur, est la magnificence, la puissance, la gloire et la victoire; à vous la louange; car tout ce qui est dans le ciel et sur la terre est à vous; à vous. Seigneur, est le règne, et c’est vous qui êtes au-dessus de tous les princes.
12 And riches and honor come from thee, and thou rulest over all; and in thy hand are power and might; and it is in thy hand to make great, and to give strength unto all.
À vous les richesses et à vous la gloire; c’est vous qui dominez sur toutes les créatures: en votre maison sont la force et la puissance; en votre main la grandeur et l’empire sur toutes choses
13 And now, O our God, we give thanks unto thee, and praise thy glorious name.
Maintenant donc, ô notre Dieu, nous vous glorifions et nous louons votre nom illustre.
14 For who am I, and what is my people, that we should possess the power to offer voluntarily after this sort? for from thee is every thing, and out of thy own have we given unto thee.
Qui suis-je, et qui est mon peuple pour que nous puissions vous offrir toutes ces choses? Tout est à vous, et c’est de votre main que nous avons reçu ce que nous vous avons donné;
15 For strangers are we before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: like a shadow are our days on the earth, and there is no hope [of abiding].
Car nous sommes des voyageurs et des étrangers devant vous comme tous nos pères. Nos jours passent comme l’ombre sur la terre, et rien ne les retient.
16 O Lord our God! all this abundant store which we have prepared to build for thee a house for thy holy name, is out of thy own hand, and thine is all.
Seigneur notre Dieu, toutes ces richesses que nous avons préparées pour bâtir une maison à votre saint nom sont de votre main, et à vous sont toutes choses.
17 And I know, my God, that thou probest the heart, and uprightness thou receivest in favor. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart have I voluntarily offered all these things; and now thy people, that are present here, do I see with joy offering voluntarily unto thee.
Je sais, mon Dieu, que vous sondez les cœurs et que vous aimez la simplicité; c’est pourquoi, moi aussi, je vous ai offert toutes ces choses dans la simplicité de mon cœur, et plein d’allégresse; et votre peuple qui se trouve ici, je l’ai vu avec une grande joie vous offrir ses présents.
18 O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our father, preserve this for ever as the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and direct their heart firmly unto thee.
Seigneur Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, nos pères, conservez éternellement cette volonté de leur cœur, et que toujours ce sentiment de vénération pour vous persévère.
19 And unto Solomon my son do thou give an undivided heart to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all, and to build the palace, for which I have made preparation.
Donnez aussi à Salomon, mon fils, un cœur parfait, afin qu’il garde vos commandements, vos témoignages et vos cérémonies, et qu’il les accomplisse tous; et qu’il bâtisse la maison dont j’ai préparé les dépenses.
20 And David said to all the assembly. Bless now the Lord your God. And all the assembly blessed the Lord the God of their fathers, and bent down their heads, and prostrated themselves to the Lord, and to the king.
Or David ordonna à toute l’assemblée: Bénissez le Seigneur notre Dieu. Et toute l’assemblée bénit le Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères; ils s’inclinèrent, et ils adorèrent Dieu et ensuite le roi.
21 And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the Lord, and they offered burnt-offerings unto the Lord, on the morrow after that day, one thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand sheep, with their drink-offerings, and [other] sacrifices in abundance for all Israel;
Et ils immolèrent des victimes au Seigneur; et ils lui offrirent des holocaustes le jour suivant: mille taureaux, mille béliers et mille agneaux, avec leurs libations, et en accomplissant tout le rite: il y en eut très abondamment pour tout Israël.
22 And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great joy. And they declared the second time Solomon the son of David to be king, and they anointed him unto the Lord as chief ruler, and Zadok as priest.
Et ils mangèrent et burent devant le Seigneur en ce jour-là avec une grande allégresse. Et ils oignirent une seconde fois Salomon, fils de David. Or, ils l’oignirent pour le Seigneur comme prince, et Sadoc, comme pontife.
23 Then sat Solomon on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and he was prosperous; and all Israel obeyed him.
Ainsi Salomon s’assit sur le trône du Seigneur, comme roi, à la place de David, son père, et il plut à tous; et tout Israël lui obéit.
24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and also all the sons of king David, submitted themselves unto king Solomon.
Et tous les princes mêmes, les puissants, et tous les fils du roi David donnèrent la main et se soumirent à Salomon, le roi.
25 And the Lord made Solomon exceedingly great before the eyes of all Israel; and he bestowed upon him a royal majesty such as had not been on any king over Israel before him.
Le Seigneur éleva donc Salomon sur tout Israël, et il donna à son règne une gloire telle que n’en eut avant lui aucun roi d’Israël.
26 Thus did David the son of Jesse reign over all Israel.
Ainsi David, fils d’Isaï, régna sur tout Israël;
27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years: in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three [years].
Et les jours pendant lesquels il régna sur Israël furent quarante années: il régna sept ans à Hébron, et à Jérusalem, trente-trois ans.
28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son became king in his stead.
Et il mourut dans une heureuse vieillesse, plein de jours, et dans les richesses et dans la gloire; et Salomon son fils régna en sa place.
29 And the acts of king David, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer,
Or les actions de David, le roi, les premières et les dernières, sont écrites dans le Livre de Samuel, le Voyant, et dans le Livre de Nathan, le prophète, et dans le volume de Gad, le Voyant,
30 Together with all his reign and his mighty deeds, and the times that passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the [various] countries.
Et l’histoire de tout son règne, de sa force, et des temps qui ont passé de son vivant, soit en Israël, soit dans tous les royaumes de la terre.
