< 1 Chronicles 16 >
1 And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yhwh.
3 And he dealt out to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
4 And he placed before the ark of the Lord several of the Levites as ministers, and to chaunt hymns, and to give praise and thanks unto the Lord the God of Israel:
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of Yhwh, and to record, and to thank and praise Yhwh God of Israel:
5 Assaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah; Je'iel, and Shemiramoth, and Jechiel, and Matthithyah, and Eliab, and Benayahu, and 'Obed-edom; and Je'iel with psalteries and with harps; but Assaph played aloud with the cymbals.
Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed–edom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
6 And Benayahu and Jachaziel the priests were with the trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 On that day—then did David appoint for the first time to give thanks to the Lord through means of Assaph and his brethren.
Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank Yhwh into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.
8 O give thanks unto the Lord; call on his name; make known among the people his deeds.
Give thanks unto Yhwh, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
9 Sing unto him, sing praises unto him: speak of all his wonderful works.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.
10 Glorify yourselves in his holy name: let the heart of those rejoice that seek the Lord.
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek Yhwh.
11 Inquire after the Lord and his strength: seek his presence evermore.
Seek Yhwh and his strength, seek his face continually.
12 Remember his wonderful works which he hath done, his tokens, and the decrees of his mouth;
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his elect.
O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14 He is the Lord our God: over all the earth are his decrees.
He is Yhwh our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
15 Remember ye for ever his covenant, the word which he hath commanded to the thousandth generation.
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
16 Which he covenanted with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
17 And which he established unto Jacob as a statute, unto Israel as an everlasting covenant;
And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, as the portion of your inheritance;
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;
19 When ye were but few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.
When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.
20 And when they wandered from one nation to another, and from one kingdom to another people:
And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;
21 He suffered no man to oppress them; yea, he reproved kings for their sake.
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22 Saying, “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”—
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
23 Sing unto the Lord all ye lands: announce from day to day his salvation.
Sing unto Yhwh, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
24 Relate among the nations his glory: among all the people his wonderful deeds.
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
25 For great is the Lord, and greatly praised; and he is to be feared above all gods.
For great is Yhwh, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord hath made the heavens.
For all the gods of the people are idols: But Yhwh made the heavens.
27 Majesty and honor are in his presence, strength and gladness are in his place.
Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Ascribe unto the Lord, O ye families of people, ascribe unto the Lord glory and strength.
Give unto Yhwh, ye kindreds of the people, give unto Yhwh glory and strength.
29 Ascribe unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; take up an offering, and come into his presence; bow down before the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Give unto Yhwh the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship Yhwh in the beauty of holiness.
30 Tremble before him, all ye lands! Also the world standeth firmly, that it be not moved.
Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, Yhwh reigneth.
32 Let the sea roar, with all that filleth it: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.
Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.
33 Then shall the trees of the forest sing joyfully at the presence of the Lord; because he cometh to judge the earth.
Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of Yhwh, because he cometh to judge the earth.
34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; because unto everlasting endureth his kindness.
O give thanks unto Yhwh; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, to glorify ourselves in thy praise.
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
36 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from everlasting even unto everlasting. And all the people said, Amen, and praise unto the Lord.
Blessed be Yhwh God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised Yhwh.
37 And he left there in charge before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Assaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, at the work of every day on its day,
So he left there before the ark of the covenant of Yhwh Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:
38 And 'Obed-edom with their brethren, sixty and eight, and 'Obed-edom the son of Jeduthun and Chossah to be gatekeepers;
And Obed–edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed–edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:
39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord, in the high-place that was at Gib'on,
And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Yhwh in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40 To offer burnt-offerings unto the Lord upon the altar of the burnt-offering continually at morning and at evening, and this in accordance with all that is written in the law of the Lord which he had commanded concerning Israel;
To offer burnt offerings unto Yhwh upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of Yhwh, which he commanded Israel;
41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were selected who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because unto everlasting endureth his kindness;
And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to Yhwh, because his mercy endureth for ever;
42 And with them, with Heman and Jeduthun, the trumpets and cymbals to play aloud, and the musical instruments of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be for the service at the gate.
And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
43 And all the people went every man to his house; and David turned about to bless his house.
And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.
