1 Chronicles 14
1 And Churam the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and trees of cedars, and masons and carpenters, to build him a house.
Potem Hiram, król Tyru, wysłał posłów do Dawida wraz z drewnem cedrowym, murarzami i cieślami, aby mu zbudowali dom.
2 And David felt conscious that the Lord had established him as king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, because of his people Israel.
I Dawid poznał, że PAN potwierdził jego królowanie nad Izraelem, gdyż wywyższył jego królestwo ze względu na swój lud Izraela.
3 And David took yet more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.
Dawid pojął więcej żon w Jerozolimie i spłodził więcej synów i córek.
4 And these are the names of the children that he had in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
A oto imiona tych, którzy mu się urodzili w Jerozolimie: Szammua, Szobab, Natan, Salomon;
5 And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Elpalet,
Jibchar, Eliszua, Elpalet;
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Yaphia',
Noga, Nefeg, Jafia;
7 And Elishama', and Be'elyada', and Eliphalet.
Eliszama, Beeliada i Elifelet.
8 But when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
Kiedy Filistyni usłyszeli, że Dawid został namaszczony na króla nad całym Izraelem, wszyscy Filistyni wyruszyli, aby go szukać. Gdy Dawid usłyszał o tym, wyszedł naprzeciw nich.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.
Filistyni przybyli i rozciągnęli się w dolinie Refaim.
10 And David asked counsel of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; and I will deliver them into thy hand.
I Dawid radził się Boga, mówiąc: Czy mam wyruszyć przeciw Filistynom i czy wydasz ich w moje ręce? PAN mu odpowiedział: Wyruszaj, a wydam ich w twoje ręce.
11 And they came up to Ba'al-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken down my enemies through my hand as a breach [is made] by water: therefore they called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.
A gdy przybyli do Baal-Perasim, tam Dawid ich pobił. Wtedy Dawid powiedział: Bóg rozerwał moich wrogów przez moją rękę, jak rozrywają się wody. Dlatego nazwał to miejsce Baal-Perasim.
12 And they left behind there their gods, and David gave the order, and they were burnt with fire.
I porzucili tam swoje bożki, a Dawid rozkazał spalić je ogniem.
13 And the Philistines [came] once again, and spread themselves out in the valley.
Lecz Filistyni znowu rozciągnęli się w dolinie.
14 And David asked again counsel of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn about from them, and come upon them opposite the mulberry-trees,
Dawid więc ponownie radził się Boga, a Bóg mu odpowiedział: Nie ruszaj na nich, ale odwróć się od nich, abyś natarł na nich od strony drzew morwowych.
15 And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God will be gone forth before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.
A gdy usłyszysz odgłos kroków wśród wierzchołków drzew morwowych, wtedy wyruszysz do bitwy, gdyż Bóg wyruszył przed tobą, aby pobić wojska Filistynów.
16 And David did as God had commanded him; and they smote the camp of the Philistines from Gib'on as far as Gezer.
I Dawid uczynił tak, jak mu rozkazał Bóg, i pobili wojska Filistynów od Gibeonu aż do Gezer.
17 And the fame of David went out into all the lands; and the Lord laid the dread of him upon all the nations.
I w ten sposób rozsławiło się imię Dawida na wszystkich ziemiach, a PAN sprawił, że bały się go wszystkie narody.
