1 Chronicles 11
1 Then did all Israel gather themselves unto David unto Hebron, saying Behold, thy bone and thy flesh are we.
ইস্রায়েলীরা সবাই একসাথে হিব্রোণে দাউদের কাছে এসে বলল, “আমরা আপনার রক্ত-সম্পর্কের আত্মীয়।
2 Already yesterday and even before, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord, thy God, said unto thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be truly a chief over my people Israel.
অতীতে, এমনকি শৌল যখন রাজা ছিলেন, আপনিই তো ইস্রায়েলের সামরিক অভিযানে তাদের নেতৃত্ব দিতেন। আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুও আপনাকে বললেন, ‘তুমি আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের পালক হবে, ও তুমিই তাদের শাসক হবে।’”
3 Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David as king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through means of Samuel.
ইস্রায়েলের প্রাচীনেরা সবাই যখন হিব্রোণে রাজা দাউদের কাছে এলেন, তিনি তখন সদাপ্রভুকে সাক্ষী রেখে হিব্রোণে তাদের সাথে একটি চুক্তি করলেন, এবং শমূয়েলের মাধ্যমে সদাপ্রভুর করা প্রতিজ্ঞানুসারে তারা দাউদকে ইস্রায়েলের উপর রাজারূপে অভিষিক্ত করলেন।
4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; and there were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.
দাউদ ও ইস্রায়েলীরা সবাই জেরুশালেমের (অর্থাৎ, যিবূষের) দিকে কুচকাওয়াজ করে এগিয়ে গেলেন। সেখানে বসবাসকারী যিবূষীয়েরা
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion, the same is the City of David.
দাউদকে বলল, “তুমি এখানে ঢুকতে পারবে না।” তা সত্ত্বেও, দাউদ সিয়োনের দুর্গটি দখল করে নিয়েছিলেন—যা হল কি না সেই দাউদ-নগর।
6 And David said, Whosoever doth smite the Jebusites at first shall be head and chief. Then did Joab the son of Zeruyah go up at first, and became head-man.
দাউদ বললেন, “যে কেউ যিবূষীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে আক্রমণে নেতৃত্ব দেবে, তাকে প্রধান সেনাপতি করা হবে।” সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াবই প্রথমে উঠে গেলেন, আর তাই তিনিই প্রধান সেনাপতি হলেন।
7 And David dwelt in the castle: therefore they called it, “The City of David.”
দাউদ পরে সেই দুর্গে বসবাস করতে শুরু করলেন, আর তাই সেটি দাউদ-নগর নামে পরিচিত হল।
8 And he built the city round about, even from the Millo as far as the surrounding district, and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
দুর্গটি মাঝখানে রেখে তিনি মণ্ডপ থেকে শুরু করে চারপাশে প্রাচীর গড়ে দিয়ে নগরটি গেঁথে তুলেছিলেন, অন্যদিকে যোয়াব নগরের বাদবাকি অংশ মেরামত করলেন।
9 And David want on, and became greater and greater, and the lord of hosts was with him.
আর দাউদ উত্তরোত্তর শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠেছিলেন, কারণ সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু তাঁর সঙ্গে ছিলেন।
10 These also are the principals of the mighty men whom David had, who held firmly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
এরাই দাউদের বলবান যোদ্ধাদের মধ্যে প্রধান ছিলেন—তারা ইস্রায়েলের সব মানুষজনকে সাথে নিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর করা প্রতিজ্ঞানুসারে গোটা দেশের উপর তাঁর রাজপদ সুস্থির করার জন্য সাহায্যের মজবুত হাত বাড়িয়ে দিলেন—
11 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashoh'am, the son of Chachmoni, the chief of the captains, who lifted up his spear against three hundred slain at one time.
দাউদের বলবান যোদ্ধাদের তালিকাটি এইরকম: হকমোনীয়দের মধ্যে একজন, সেই যাশবিয়াম ছিলেন কর্মকর্তাদের মধ্যে প্রধান; তিনি সেই তিনশো জনের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর বর্শা উঠিয়েছিলেন, যাদের তিনি সম্মুখসমরে একবারেই হত্যা করলেন।
12 And after him was El'asar the son of Dodo, the Achochite, who was one of the three mighty men.
তাঁর পরের জন ছিলেন তিনজন বলবান যোদ্ধাদের মধ্যে একজন, অহোহীয় দোদয়ের ছেলে সেই ইলিয়াসর।
13 He was with David at Pass-dammim, and the Philistines were gathered together there to battle, and there was a piece of ground full of barley; and the people had fled from before the Philistines.
ফিলিস্তিনীরা যখন পস-দম্মীমে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য সমবেত হল, তখন তিনি দাউদের সাথে সেখানেই ছিলেন। সেটি সেই স্থান, যেখানে যবে পরিপূর্ণ একটি ক্ষেত ছিল, এবং সৈন্যদল ফিলিস্তিনীদের কাছ থেকে পালিয়ে গেল।
14 And they placed themselves in the midst of that piece [of ground], and they delivered it, and smote the Philistines: and the Lord helped [them] with a great victory.
কিন্তু তারা সেই ক্ষেতের মাঝখানে গিয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন। তারা সেটি রক্ষা করলেন ও ফিলিস্তিনীদের আঘাত করলেন, এবং সদাপ্রভু এক মহাবিজয় সম্পন্ন করলেন।
15 And these three, the chiefs of the thirty, went down to the rock to David, to the cave of 'Adullam; and the camp of the Philistines was pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
একদল ফিলিস্তিনী যখন রফায়ীম উপত্যকায় শিবির করে বসেছিল তখন ত্রিশজন প্রধানের মধ্যে তিনজন অদুল্লম গুহায় অবস্থিত সেই শিলাপাথরের কাছাকাছি থাকা দাউদের কাছে নেমে এলেন।
16 And David was then in the strong-hold, and an outpost of the Philistines was then at Beth-lechem.
সেই সময় দাউদ দুর্গের মধ্যেই ছিলেন, এবং দুর্গ রক্ষার জন্য মোতায়েন ফিলিস্তিনী সৈন্যদল বেথলেহেমে অবস্থান করছিল।
17 And David longed, and said, Oh that some one would bring me water to drink out of the well of Beth-lechem, which is by the gate!
দাউদ তৃষ্ণায় কাতর হয়ে বলে উঠেছিলেন, “হায়, কেউ যদি আমার জন্য বেথলেহেমের ফটকের কাছে অবস্থিত সেই কুয়ো থেকে একটু জল এনে দিত!”
18 And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lechem, which was by the gate, and carried it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink thereof, and poured it out unto the Lord.
অতএব সেই তিনজন ফিলিস্তিনী সৈন্যশিবির পার করে বেথলেহেমের সিংহদুয়ারের কাছে অবস্থিত কুয়ো থেকে জল তুলে দাউদের কাছে নিয়ে এলেন। কিন্তু তিনি তা পান করতে চাননি; তা না করে, তিনি সেই জল সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে ঢেলে দিলেন।
19 And he said, Far be it from me, before my God, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that went at the risk of their lives? for at the risk of their lives did they bring it; and thus he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
“ঈশ্বর যেন আমাকে এরকম করা থেকে বিরত রাখেন!” তিনি বললেন। “যারা তাদের জীবন বিপন্ন করে সেখানে গেল, আমি কি তাদের রক্ত পান করব?” যেহেতু তারা সেই জল আনার জন্য তাদের জীবনের ঝুঁকি নিয়েছিলেন, তাই দাউদ তা পান করতে চাননি। সেই তিনজন বলবান যোদ্ধা এরকমই সব উজ্জ্বল কীর্তি স্থাপন করে গেলেন।
20 And Abshai the brother of Joab was the chief of these three; and he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain, and had a name among the three.
যোয়াবের ভাই অবীশয় সেই তিনজনের মধ্যে প্রধান ছিলেন। তিনি তিনশো জন লোকের বিরুদ্ধে বর্শা উঠিয়ে তাদের হত্যা করলেন, এবং এভাবেই সেই তিনজনের মতো বিখ্যাত হয়ে গেলেন।
21 Of the three, he was more honored than the two, wherefore he became their captain; he nevertheless attained not unto the three [in prowess].
তিনি সেই তিনজনকে ছাপিয়ে দ্বিগুণ সমাদরের পাত্র হলেন এবং সেই তিনজনের মধ্যে গণ্য না হয়েও তিনি তাদের সেনাপতি হয়ে গেলেন।
22 Banayah the son of Jehoyada', the son of a valiant man, great in many acts, of Kah-zeel: he it was that smote the two lion-like heroes of Moab; he also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a day when it snowed.
কব্সীলের এক বীর যোদ্ধা, তথা যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় বিশাল সব উজ্জ্বল কীর্তি স্থাপন করলেন। তিনি মোয়াবের অত্যন্ত বলশালী দুই যোদ্ধাকে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। এছাড়াও একদিন যখন খুব তুষারপাত হচ্ছিল, তখন তিনি একটি গর্তের মধ্যে নেমে গিয়ে একটি সিংহকে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।
23 And he smote an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and he snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
এছাড়াও তিনি এমন এক মিশরীয়কে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন, যে উচ্চতায় 2.3 মিটার লম্বা ছিল। যদিও সেই মিশরীয়র হাতে তাঁতির দণ্ডের মতো একটি বর্শা ছিল, তবু বনায় একটি মুগুর হাতে নিয়ে তার দিকে এগিয়ে গেলেন। তিনি সেই মিশরীয়ের হাত থেকে বর্শাটি কেড়ে নিয়ে তার বর্শা দিয়েই তাকে হত্যা করলেন।
24 These things did Benayah the son of Jehoyada'; and he had a name among the mighty men.
যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায়ের উজ্জ্বল সব কীর্তি এরকমই ছিল; তিনিও সেই তিনজন বলবান যোদ্ধার মতোই বিখ্যাত হয়ে গেলেন।
25 Behold, he was indeed more honored than the thirty; but he attained not to the first three. And David appointed him over his private council.
সেই ত্রিশজনের মধ্যে যে কোনো একজনের তুলনায় তাঁকেই বেশি সম্মান দেওয়া হত, কিন্তু তিনি সেই তিনজনের মধ্যে গণ্য হননি। আর দাউদ তাঁকে তাঁর দেহরক্ষীদের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক করে দিলেন।
26 And the mighty men of the armies were, 'Assahel the brother of Joab, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lechem.
বলবান যোদ্ধারা হলেন: যোয়াবের ভাই অসাহেল, বেথলেহেমের অধিবাসী দোদয়ের ছেলে ইলহানন,
27 Shammoth the Harorite, Chelez the Pelonite,
হরোরীয় শম্মোৎ, পলোনীয় হেলস,
28 'Ira the son of 'Ikkesh the Theko'ite, Abi'ezer the 'Antothite,
তকোয়ের অধিবাসী ইক্কেশের ছেলে ঈরা, অনাথোতের অধিবাসী অবীয়েষর,
29 Sibbechai the Chushathite, 'Ilai the Achochite,
হূশাতীয় সিব্বখয়, অহোহীয় ঈলয়,
30 Maharai the Netophathite, Cheled the son of Ba'anah the Netophathite,
নটোফাতীয় মহরয়, নটোফাতীয় বানার ছেলে হেলদ,
31 Ithai the son of Ribai of Gib'ah, of the children of 'Benjamin, Benayah the Pir'athonite.
বিন্যামীনের গিবিয়ার অধিবাসী রীবয়ের ছেলে ইথয়, পিরিয়াথোনীয় বনায়,
32 Churai of the Nachale-Ga'ash, Abiel the 'Arbathite,
গাশের সরু গিরিখাতের অধিবাসী হূরয়, অর্বতীয় অবীয়েল,
33 'Azmaveth the Bacharumite, Elyachba the Sha'albonite,
বাহরূমীয় অস্মাবৎ, শালবোনীয় ইলিয়হবা,
34 Bnai-hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite.
গিষোণীয় হাষেমের ছেলেরা, হরারীয় সাগির ছেলে যোনাথন,
35 Achiam the son of Sachar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
হরারীয় সাখরের ছেলে অহীয়াম, ঊরের ছেলে ইলীফাল,
36 Chepher the Mecherathite, Achiyah the Pelonite.
মখেরাতীয় হেফর, পলোনীয় অহিয়,
37 Chezro the Carmelite, Na'arai the son of Ezbai,
কর্মিলীয় হিষ্রো, ইষবোয়ের ছেলে নারয়,
38 Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibchar the son of Hagri,
নাথনের ভাই যোয়েল, হগ্রির ছেলে মিভর,
39 Zelek the 'Ammonite, Nachrai the Berothite, the armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruyah,
অম্মোনীয় সেলক, সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াবের অস্ত্র বহনকারী বেরোতীয় নহরয়,
40 'Ira the Yithrite, Gareb the Yithrite,
যিত্রীয় ঈরা, যিত্রীয় গারেব,
41 Uriyah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Achlai,
হিত্তীয় ঊরিয়, অহলয়ের ছেলে সাবদ,
42 'Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and with him were thirty [men].
রূবেণীয় শীষার ছেলে সেই অদীনা, যিনি রূবেণীয়দের একজন প্রধান ছিলেন, এবং তাঁর সাথে ছিলেন সেই ত্রিশজন,
43 Chanan the son of Ma'achah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite.
মাখার ছেলে হানান, মিত্নীয় যোশাফট,
44 'Uzziya the 'Ashterathite, Shama' and Je'iel the sons of Chothan the 'Aro'erite,
অষ্টরোতীয় উষিয়, অরোয়েরীয় হোথমের দুই ছেলে শাম ও যিয়ীয়েল,
45 Jedi'ael the son of Shimri, and Jocha his brother, the Thizite,
সিম্রির ছেলে যিদীয়েল, তাঁর ভাই তীষীয় যোহা,
46 Eliel the Machavite, and Jerihal, and Joshavyah, the son of Elna'am, and Yithmah the Moabite,
মহবীয় ইলীয়েল, ইলনামের দুই ছেলে যিরীবয় ও যোশবিয়, মোয়াবীয় যিৎমা,
47 Eliel, and 'Obed, and Ja'assiel the Mezobayite.
ইলীয়েল, ওবেদ ও মসোবায়ীয় যাসীয়েল।
