Psalms 99

1 A Psalm of David. The Lord reigns; —let the people rage; [it is he] that sits upon the cherubs, let the earth be moved.

Drottinn er konungur! Þjóðirnar skjálfi! Hásæti hans stendur miklu ofar englunum. Jörðin nötri í óttablandinni virðingu.

2 The Lord is great in Sion, and is high over all the people.

Drottinn ríkir með hátign á Síon, æðri öllum konungum á jörðu.

3 Let them give thanks to your great name; for it is terrible and holy.

Þeir tigni hans háa og heilaga nafn!

4 And the king's honor loves judgment; you have prepared equity, you have wrought judgment and justice in Jacob.

Drottinn er voldugur konungur. Hann elskar réttlæti. Réttvísi og heiðarleiki einkenna stjórnarfar hans. Þannig ríkir hann í Ísrael.

5 Exalt you the Lord our God, and worship [at] his footstool; for he is holy.

Vegsamið Drottin, hinn heilaga Guð! Föllum fram við fótskör hans.

6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he heard them.

Móse og Aron voru prestar hans og Samúel spámaður hans. Þeir báðu til Drottins og hann bænheyrði þá.

7 He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud; they kept his testimonies, and the ordinances which he gave them.

Úr skýstólpa talaði hann við þá, þeir hlustuðu og hlýddu fyrirmælum hans.

8 O Lord our God, you heard them; O God, you became propitious to them, though you did take vengeance on all their devices.

Ó, Drottinn, þú ert okkar Guð! Þú svaraðir þeim og fyrirgafst syndir þeirra.

9 Exalt you the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy.

Tignið Drottin Guð! Tilbiðjið hann í Jerúsalem á fjallinu helga. Hann er heilagur.
