Psalms 89
1 [A Psalm] of instruction for Aetham the Israelite. I will sing of your mercies, O Lord, for ever: I will declare your truth with my mouth to all generations.
Ein Lehrgedicht, von Ethan, dem Ezrachiten. Ich singe von des Herrn ewiger Liebe. Mit meinem Mund verkündige ich Deine Treue für künftige Geschlechter.
2 For you have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: your truth shall be established in the heavens.
Denn ich erklär: Die Liebe ist auf ewigen Grund gebaut; dem Himmel gleich befestigest Du Deine Treue.
3 I made a covenant with my chosen ones, I sware to David my servant.
"Mit meinem Auserwählten schloß ich einen Bund; Ich schwor dem David, meinem Knecht:
4 I will establish your seed for ever, and build up your throne to all generations. (Pause)
Auf ewig laß ich deinen Stamm bestehen, begründe deinen Thron für alle Zeiten." (Sela)
5 The heavens shall declare your wonders, O Lord; and your truth in the assembly of the saints.
Dein unvergleichlich Wesen preist der Himmel, Herr, und Deine Treue mit der heiligen Gemeinde.
6 For who in the heavens shall be compared to the Lord? and who shall be likened to the Lord among the sons of God?
Wer in den Wolken gleicht dem Herrn? Wer von den Gottessöhnen ist dem Herrn ähnlich,
7 God is glorified in the council of the saints; great and terrible toward all that are round about him.
dem Gott, so schrecklich in der Heiligen Rat und furchtbar über alle um ihn her?
8 O Lord God of hosts, who is like to you? you are mighty, O Lord, and your truth is round about you.
Herr, Gott der Heerscharen! Wer ist, wie Du, so mächtig, Herr? Wie Deine Treue doch für die, die Dich umgeben?
9 You rule the power of the sea; and you calm the tumult of its waves.
Du bist des stolzen Meeres Herrscher; nur Du beruhigst seiner Wogen Brandung.
10 You has brought down the proud as one that is slain; and with the arm of your power you has scattered your enemies.
Nur Du schlägst Rahab, daß es kampfunfähig wird, zerstreust mit Deinem starken Arme Deine Feinde.
11 The heavens are your, and the earth is your: you have founded the world, and the fullness of it.
Dein ist der Himmel, Dein die Erde; die Welt und was sie füllt, hast Du gegründet.
12 You have created the north and the west: Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in your name.
Den Norden und den Süden schufest Du; der Tabor und der Hermon hoben sich in Deinem Namen.
13 Your is the mighty arm: let your hand be strengthened, let your right hand be exalted.
Dir ist ein Arm voll Kraft zu eigen, und stark ist Deine Hand und Deine Rechte hoch erhoben.
14 Justice and judgment are the establishment of your throne: mercy and truth shall go before your face.
Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind Deines Thrones Pfeiler, und Huld und Treue gehen vor Dir her.
15 Blessed is the people that knows the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance.
Dem Volke Heil, das jauchzend im Lichte Deines Angesichtes wandelt, Herr,
16 And in your name shall they rejoice all the day: and in your righteousness shall they be exalted.
das über Deinen Namen stets frohlockt und das durch Deine Liebe groß dasteht!
17 For you are the boast of their strength; and in your good pleasure shall our horn be exalted,
Die Krone seiner Macht bist Du; durch Deine Huld wächst unsere Macht.
18 for [our] help is of the Lord; and of the Holy One of Israel, our king.
Fürwahr, dem Herrn ist unser Schild zu eigen, dem Heiligen Israels unser König. -
19 Then you spoke in vision to your children, and said, I have laid help on a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of my people.
Einst sprachst Du im Gesicht zu Deinem Frommen. Du sprachst: "Ich habe aufgeholfen einem Helden und einen Jüngling aus dem Volk erhoben.
20 I have found David my servant; I have anointed him by [my] holy mercy.
Ich habe David, meinen Knecht, ergriffen, mit meinem heiligen Öle ihn gesalbt,
21 For my hand shall support him; and mine arm shall strengthen him.
daß meine Hand beständig mit ihm sei, und daß mein Arm ihn stärke.
22 The enemy shall have no advantage against him; and the son of transgression shall not hurt him again.
Kein Gegner wird ihn überfallen, kein Frevler ihn bedrängen.
23 And I will hew down his foes before him, and put to flight those that hate him.
Vor ihm zerschmettere ich seine Feinde, und seine Hasser schlage ich zu Boden.
24 But my truth and my mercy shall be with him; and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
Begleiten soll'n ihn meine Huld und Treue, mein Name seine Macht erhöhen!
25 And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
Ich setze seine Hand aufs Meer und auf die Ströme seine Rechte.
26 He shall call upon me, [saying], You are my Father, my God, and the helper of my salvation.
Er soll mich anrufen: 'Mein Vater Du, mein Gott und meines Heiles Hort bist Du.'
27 And I will make him [my] firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
Ich mache ihn zum Erstgeborenen, zum Höchsten von den Erdenkönigen.
28 I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant [shall be] firm with him.
Ich will ihm ewig meine Huld bewahren und unverbrüchlich meinen Bund.
29 And I will establish his seed for ever and ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Ich mache ewig seinen Stamm und seinen Thron des Himmels Tagen gleich.
30 If his children should forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
Verlassen aber seine Söhne mein Gesetz und wandeln nicht nach meinen Ordnungen,
31 if they should profane my ordinances, and not keep my commandments;
entweihn sie meine Satzungen und halten nimmer meine Vorschriften,
32 I will visit their transgressions with a rod, and their sins with scourges.
dann strafe ich mit Ruten ihr Vergehen, mit Streichen ihre Missetat.
33 But my mercy I will not utterly remove from him, nor wrong my truth.
Doch ich entziehe ihm nicht meine Gnade, und meine Treue laß ich ihm nicht fehlen,
34 Neither will I by any means profane my covenant; and I will not make void the things that proceed out of my lips.
verletze nimmer meinen Bund und ändre nicht den Ausspruch meiner Lippen.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie to David.
Ich schwöre ein für allemal bei meiner Heiligkeit: - Wie sollte ich auch David täuschen? -
36 His see shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me;
Sein Stamm soll ewig dauern, sein Thron, der Sonne gleich nach meinem Willen,
37 and as the moon [that is] established for ever, and as the faithful witness in heaven. (Pause)
und wie der Mond für alle Zeiten währen, beständig so, wie dieser in den Wolken!" (Sela)
38 But you have cast off and set at nothing, you has rejected your anointed.
Und doch verwirfst Du und verschmähst im Zorne den, den Du gesalbt,
39 You have overthrown the covenant of your servant; you has profaned his sanctuary, [casting it] to the ground.
vernichtest Deines Knechtes Bund; wirfst seine Krone in den Staub,
40 You have broken down all his hedges; you have made his strong holds a terror.
durchbrichst all seine Mauern, zertrümmerst seine Festen.
41 All that go by the way have spoiled him: he is become a reproach to his neighbors.
Wer da vorübergeht, der plündert ihn; für seine Nachbarn ist er nur ein Hohn.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his enemies; you have made all his enemies to rejoice.
Du hebst empor die Rechte seiner Dränger, erfreuest alle seine Feinde.
43 You have turned back the help of his sword, and have not helped him in the battle.
Du läßt abprallen seines Schwertes Schneide und ihn im Kampfe nicht bestehn,
44 You have deprived him of glory: you have broken down his throne to the ground.
vernichtest seine Heiligkeit und stürzest seinen Thron zu Boden,
45 You have shortened the days of his throne: you have poured shame upon him. (Pause)
verkürzest seine Jugendzeit, und deckest ihn mit Schande zu. (Sela)
46 How long, O Lord, will you turn away, for ever? shall your anger flame out as fire?
Wie lange, Herr, verbirgst Du Dich so ganz? Wie lange brennt Dein Grimm wie Feuer?
47 Remember what my being is: for have you created all the sons of men in vain?
Bedenk doch, was ich für ein Wesen bin! Zu welchem Nichts schufst Du die Menschenkinder alle!
48 What man is there who shall live, and not see death? shall [any one] deliver his soul from the hand of Hades? (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
Wo ist der Mann, der leben bliebe und den Tod nicht schaute, der vor des Grabes Macht sein Leben wahrte? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
49 Where are your ancient mercies, O Lord, which you sware to David in your truth?
Wo sind, Herr, Deiner Gnade frühere Beweise, die Du dem David schwurst bei Deiner Treue?
50 Remember, O Lord, the reproach of your servants, which I have borne in my bosom, [even the reproach] of many nations;
Bedenk den Hohn auf Deine Knechte, Herr, den ich von all den vielen Völkern her in meinem Busen trage,
51 wherewith your enemies have reviled, O Lord: wherewith they have reviled the recompense of your anointed.
den Hohn, mit dem Dich Deine Feinde, Herr, verhöhnen, mit dem sie des von Dir Gesalbten Stamm beschimpfen!
52 Blessed be the Lord for ever. So be it, so be it.
Gepriesen sei der Herr in Ewigkeit! Amen! Amen!
