Psalms 84

1 For the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core, concerning the wine presses. How amiable are your tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!

Til sangmesteren, efter Gittit; av Korahs barn; en salme. Hvor elskelige dine boliger er, Herre, hærskarenes Gud!

2 My soul longs, and faints for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh have exulted in the living god.

Min sjel lenges, ja vansmekter av lengsel efter Herrens forgårder; mitt hjerte og mitt kjød roper med fryd til den levende Gud.

3 Yes, the sparrow has found himself a home, and the turtle-dove a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, [even] your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

Spurven har jo funnet sig et hus, og svalen et rede hvor den har lagt sine unger - dine alter, Herre, hærskarenes Gud, min konge og min Gud!

4 Blessed are they that dwell in your house: they will praise you evermore. (Pause)

Salige er de som bor i ditt hus; de skal stadig love dig. (Sela)

5 Blessed is the man whose help is of you, O Lord; in his heart he has purposed to go up

Salig er det menneske som har sin styrke i dig, de hvis hu står til de jevne veier.

6 the valley of weeping, to the place which he has appointed, for [there] the law-giver will grant blessings.

Når de vandrer gjennem tåredalen, gjør de den til en kildevang, og høstregnet dekker den med velsignelse.

7 They shall go from strength to strength: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.

De går frem fra kraft til kraft, de treder frem for Gud på Sion.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: listen, O God of Jacob. (Pause)

Herre, Gud, hærskarenes Gud, hør min bønn! Vend øret til, Jakobs Gud! (Sela)

9 Behold, O God our defender, and look upon the face of your anointed.

Gud, vårt skjold, se til og sku din salvedes åsyn!

10 For one day in your courts is better than thousands. I would rather be an abject in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners.

For en dag i dine forgårder er bedre enn ellers tusen; jeg vil heller stå ved dørtreskelen i min Guds hus enn bo i ugudelighets telt.

11 For the Lord loves mercy and truth: God will give grace and glory: the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence.

For Gud Herren er sol og skjold, Herren gir nåde og ære; han nekter ikke dem noget godt som vandrer i uskyld.

12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in you.

Herre, hærskarenes Gud, salig er det menneske som setter sin lit til dig.
