Psalms 78
1 [A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth.
En undervisning Assaphs. Hör, mitt folk, min lag; böjer edor öron till mins muns tal.
2 I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings [which have been] from the beginning.
Jag vill öppna min mun till ordspråk, och vill förtälja gamla hemligheter;
3 All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us.
De vi hört hafve och vetom, och våra fäder oss förtäljt hafva;
4 They were not hid from their children to a second generations; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and his mighty acts, and his wonders which he wrought.
Att vi det icke fördölja skulle deras barnom, som efter komma skulle; utan förkunna Herrans lof, och hans magt och under, som han gjort hafver.
5 And he raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children:
Han upprättade ett vittnesbörd i Jacob, och gaf en lag i Israel, den han våra fäder böd, till att lära deras barn;
6 that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.
På det att efterkommanderna måtte det lära, och de barn, som ännu skulle födde varda; då de uppkommo, att de ock förkunnade det sinom barnom;
7 That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek his commandments.
Att de skulle sätta sitt hopp till Gud, och icke förgäta Guds verk, och hålla hans bud;
8 That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.
Och icke varda, såsom deras fäder, en affällig och ohörsam art; hvilkom deras hjerta icke fast var, och deras ande höll sig icke troliga till Gud;
9 The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting [with] the bow, turned [back] in the day of battle.
Såsom Ephraims barn, som väpnade voro och förde bågan, föllo af i stridstidenom.
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law.
De höllo icke Guds förbund, och ville icke vandra i hans lag;
11 And they forgot his benefits, and his miracles which he [had] showed them;
Och förgåto hans verk, och hans under, som han dem bevist hade.
12 the miracles which he wrought before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Tanes.
För deras fäder gjorde han under, i Egypti land, på den markene Zoan.
13 He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as [in] a bottle.
Han åtskiljde hafvet, och lät dem gå derigenom, och satte vattnet såsom en mur.
14 And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
Han ledde dem om dagen med en molnsky, och om nattena med en klar eld.
15 he clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.
Han lät bergsklippona remna i öknene, och gaf dem dricka vatten tillfyllest;
16 And he brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.
Och lät bäcker flyta utu bergsklippone, att de flöto derut, såsom vattuströmmar.
17 And they sinned yet more against him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.
Likväl syndade de ännu emot honom, och förtörnade den Högsta i öknene;
18 And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for [the desire of] their souls.
Och försökte Gud, i deras hjerta, att de spis beddes till deras själar;
19 They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
Och talade emot Gud, och sade: Ja, skulle väl Gud kunna bereda ett bord i öknene?
20 Forasmuch as he struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will he be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for his people?
Si, han hafver väl slagit bergsklippona, att vatten utflöt, och bäcker sig utgåfvo; men huru kan han gifva bröd, och skaffa sino folke kött?
21 Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.
Då nu Herren det hörde, vardt han upptänd; och eld gick upp i Jacob, och vrede kom öfver Israel;
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
Att de icke trodde uppå Gud, och hoppades icke uppå hans hjelp.
23 Yet he commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
Och han böd skyarna ofvantill, och upplät himmelens dörrar;
24 and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.
Och lät regna Man till dem till mats, och gaf dem himmelsbröd.
25 Man ate angels' bread; he sent them provision to the full.
De åto änglabröd; han sände dem mat tillfyllest.
26 He removed the south wind from heaven; and by his might he brought in the southwest wind.
Han lät blåsa östanväder under himmelen, och genom sina starkhet upprörde sunnanväder;
27 And he rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the seas.
Och lät kött regna uppå dem såsom stoft, och foglar såsom sanden i hafvet;
28 And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.
Och lät dem falla i deras lägre, allestäds der de bodde.
29 So they ate, and were completely filled; and he gave them their desire.
Då åto de, och vordo för mätte; han lät dem släcka sin lusta.
30 They were not disappointed of their desire: [but] when their food was yet in their mouth,
Då de ännu sin lusta icke släckt hade, och de ännu åto deraf,
31 then the indignation of God rose up against them, and killed the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel.
Så kom Guds vrede öfver dem; och drap de yppersta ibland dem, och nederslog de bästa i Israel.
32 In the midst of all this they sinned yet more, and believed not his miracles.
Men öfver allt detta syndade de ännu mer, och trodde intet uppå hans under.
33 And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years with anxiety.
Derföre lät han dem dö bort, så att de intet fingo, och måste i deras lifsdagar plågade varda.
34 When he killed them, they sought him: and they returned and called betimes upon God.
När han drap dem, sökte de honom, och vände sig bittida till Gud;
35 And they remembered that God was their helper, and the most high God was their redeemer.
Och tänkte, att Gud är deras tröst, och Gud den Högste deras förlösare;
36 Yet they loved him [only] with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
Och skrymtade för honom med deras mun, och lögo för honom med deras tungo.
37 For their heart [was] not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.
Men deras hjerta var icke fast intill honom, och höllo sig icke troliga intill hans förbund.
38 But he is compassionate, and will forgive their sins, and will not destroy [them]: yes, he will frequently turn away his wrath, and will not kindle all his anger.
Men han var barmhertig, och förlät missgerningarna, och förgjorde dem icke; och afvände ofta sina vrede, och lät icke alla sina vrede gå.
39 And he remembered that they are flesh; a wind that passes away, and returns not.
Ty han tänkte att de äro kött; ett väder, som bortfar, och kommer intet igen.
40 How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, [and] anger him in a dry land!
De förtörnade honom ganska ofta i öknene, och bekymrade honom i ödemarkene.
41 Yes, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
De försökte Gud framgent, och rette den Heliga i Israel.
42 They remembered not his hand, the day in which he delivered them from the hand of the oppressor.
De tänkte intet uppå hans hand, den dagen då han förlöste dem ifrå fienderna;
43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Tanes:
Såsom han sina tecken gjort hade uti Egypten, och sina under i det landet Zoan.
44 and had changed their rivers into blood; and their streams, that they should not drink.
Då han deras vatten i blod vände; så att de af deras bäcker icke dricka kunde.
45 He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them.
Då han ohyro ibland dem sände, som dem åto, och paddor, som dem förderfvade;
46 And he gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labors to the locust.
Och gaf deras frukt gräsmatkom, och deras säd gräshoppom.
47 He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost.
Då han deras vinträ med hagel förderfvade, och deras mulbärsträ med stort hagel.
48 And he gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire.
Då han deras boskap slog med hagel, och deras hjordar med ljungande.
49 He sent out against them the fury of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels.
Då han i sina grymma vrede sände ibland dem onda änglar, och lät dem härja och förderfva, och skada göra.
50 He made a way for his wrath; he spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death;
Då han lät sina vrede gå, och icke skonade deras själom för dödenom, och lät deras boskap dö af pestilentie.
51 and struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the first fruits of their labors in the tents of Cham.
Då han i Egypten allt förstfödt slog, de första arfvingar i Hams hyddom;
52 And he removed his people like sheep; he led them as a flock in the wilderness.
Och lät sitt folk utdraga såsom får, och förde dem såsom en hjord i öknene.
53 And he guided them with hope, and they feared not: but the sea covered their enemies.
Och han ledde dem säkra, så att de intet fruktade sig; men deras fiendar öfvertäckte hafvet;
54 And he brought them in to the mountain of his sanctuary, this mountain which his right hand had purchased.
Och lät dem komma i sina helga gränsor, till detta berg, hvilket hans högra hand förvärfvat hafver;
55 And he cast out the nations from before them, and made them to inherit by a line of inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
Och fördref för dem folk, och lät dem utskifta arfvet, och lät Israels slägter bo i deras hyddom.
56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies.
Men de försökte och förtörnade Gud, den Högsta, och höllo intet hans vittnesbörd;
57 And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers: they became like a crooked bow.
Och föllo tillbaka, och föraktade all ting, såsom deras fäder; och höllo intet, såsom en lös båge;
58 And they provoked him with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
Och förtörnade honom med sina höjder, och rette honom med sina afgudar;
59 God heard and lightly regarded [them], and greatly despised Israel.
Och då Gud det hörde, vardt han upptänd, och förkastade Israel svårliga;
60 And he rejected the tabernacle of Selom, his tent where he lived among men.
Så att han lät fara sina boning i Silo, den hyddo, der han ibland menniskor bodde;
61 And he gave their strength into captivity, and their beauty into the enemy's hand.
Och gaf deras magt uti fängelse, och deras härlighet uti fiendans händer;
62 And he gave his people to the sword; and disdained his inheritance.
Och öfvergaf sitt folk för svärd, och var upptänd emot sitt arf.
63 Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins mourned not.
Deras unga män förtärde elden, och deras jungfrur måste ogifta blifva.
64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows shall not be wept for.
Deras Prester föllo genom svärd, och inga enkor voro, de der gråta skulle.
65 So the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, [and] as a mighty man who has been heated with wine.
Och Herren vaknade upp, såsom en sofvande, och såsom en stark glad är, den ifrå vin kommer;
66 And he struck his enemies in the hinder parts: he brought on them a perpetual reproach.
Och slog sina fiendar baktill, och hängde en evig skam uppå dem;
67 And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
Och förkastade Josephs hyddo, och utvalde icke Ephraims slägte;
68 but chose the tribe of Juda, the mount Sion which he loved.
Utan utvalde Juda slägte, det berget Zion, som han älskade;
69 And he built his sanctuary as [the place] of unicorns; he founded it for ever on the earth.
Och byggde sin helgedom högt, såsom ett land det evinnerliga fast stå skall;
70 He chose David also his servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep.
Och utvalde sin tjenare David, och tog honom utu fårahusen.
71 He took him from following the ewes great with young, to be the shepherd of Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance.
Ifrå de däggande får hemtade han honom, att han hans folk Jacob föda skulle, och hans arf Israel.
72 So he tended them in the innocency of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
Och han födde dem också med all trohet, och regerade dem med all flit.
