Psalms 7
1 A Psalm of David, which he sang to the Lord because of the words of Chusi the Benjamite. O Lord my God, in you have I trusted: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.
Complainte de David, qu'il chanta à l'Éternel à propos de Cus, Benjamite. Éternel, mon Dieu, à toi j'ai mon recours: sauve-moi de tous mes persécuteurs, et me délivre!
2 Lest at any time [the enemy] seize my soul as a lion, while there is none to ransom, nor to save.
de peur que, comme un lion, ils ne me déchirent, m'écrasant, faute de libérateur.
3 O Lord my God, if I have done this; (if there is unrighteousness in my hands; )
Éternel, mon Dieu! si c'est ici ce que j'ai fait, s'il y a de l'iniquité dans mes mains,
4 if I have requited with evil those who requited me [with good]; may I then perish empty by means of my enemies.
si j'ai payé mon ami par le mal, dépouillé celui qui me haïssait sans cause;
5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, an take it; and let him trample my life on the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. (Pause)
que l'ennemi poursuive ma vie, qu'il m'atteigne et me foule contre terre, et traîne ma gloire dans la poussière! (Pause)
6 Arise, O Lord, in your wrath; be exalted in the utmost boundaries of mine enemies: awake, O Lord my God, according to the decree which you did command.
Lève-toi, Éternel, dans ta colère! élève-toi contre les fureurs de mes ennemis! Sus! à moi! apprête le jugement!
7 And the congregation of the nations shall compass you: and for this cause do you return on high.
Que l'assemblée des peuples t'environne! au-dessus d'elle monte sur un lieu élevé!
8 The Lord shall judge the nations: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my innocence that is in me.
L'Éternel juge les peuples: Éternel, fais-moi justice! que selon ma justice et mon innocence il me soit fait!
9 Oh let the wickedness of sinners come to an end; and [then] you shall direct the righteous, O God that search the hearts and reins.
Mets donc fin à la malice des impies, et fortifie le juste! toi qui sondes les cœurs et les reins, Dieu juste!
10 My help is righteous, [coming] from God who saves the upright in heart.
Mon bouclier est par-devers Dieu, qui est en aide à ceux dont le cœur est droit.
11 God is a righteous judge, and strong, and patient, not inflicting vengeance every day.
Dieu est un juste juge, un Dieu prêt à s'irriter en tout temps.
12 If you will not repent, he will furbish his sword; he has bent his bow, and made it ready.
S'il ne s'arrête, Il aiguise son épée, Il bande son arc et l'ajuste,
13 And on it he has fitted the instruments of death; he has completed his arrows for the raging ones.
et dirige sur lui des traits mortels, des traits qu'il enflamme.
14 Behold, he has travailed with unrighteousness, he has conceived trouble, and brought forth iniquity.
Voici, il avait conçu le mal, et portait la malice dans son sein; mais il a enfanté une déception.
15 He has opened a pit, and dug it up, and he shall fall into the ditch which he has made.
Il a fait une fosse, il l'a creusée, mais il est tombé dans le creux par lui préparé.
16 His trouble shall return on his own head, and his unrighteousness shall come down on his own crown.
Sa malice retombe sur sa tête, et sa violence redescend sur son front.
17 I will give thanks to the Lord according to his righteousness; I will sing to the name of the Lord most high.
J'exalterai l'Éternel selon sa justice, et je chanterai le nom de l'Éternel, du Très-haut.
