Psalms 48

1 A Psalm of praise for the sons of Core on the second [day] of the week. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

Ein Psalmlied der Kinder Korah. Groß ist der HERR und hoch berühmt in der Stadt unsers Gottes, auf seinem heiligen Berge.

2 The city of the great King is well planted [on] the mountains of Sion, with the joy of the whole earth, [on] the sides of the north.

Der Berg Zion ist wie ein schön Zweiglein, des sich das ganze Land tröstet; an der Seite gegen Mitternacht liegt die Stadt des großen Königs.

3 God is known in her palaces, when he undertakes to help her.

Gott ist in ihren Palästen bekannt, daß er der Schutz sei.

4 For, behold the kings of the earth were assembled, they came together.

Denn siehe, Könige sind versammelt und miteinander vorübergezogen.

5 They saw, and so they wondered: they were troubled, they were moved.

Sie haben sich verwundert, da sie solches sahen; sie haben sich entsetzt und sind gestürzt.

6 Trembling took hold on them: there were the pangs as of a woman in travail.

Zittern ist sie daselbst angekommen, Angst wie eine Gebärerin.

7 You will break the ships of Tharsis with a vehement wind.

Du zerbrichst Schiffe im Meer durch den Ostwind.

8 As we have heard, so have we also seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God has founded it for ever. (Pause)

Wie wir gehöret haben, so sehen wir's an der Stadt des HERRN Zebaoth, an der Stadt unsers Gottes; Gott erhält dieselbige ewiglich. (Sela)

9 We have thought of your mercy, O God, in the midst of your people.

Gott, wir warten deiner Güte in deinem Tempel.

10 According to your name, O God, so is also your praise to the ends of the earth: your right hand is full of righteousness.

Gott, wie dein Name, so ist auch dein Ruhm, bis an der Welt Ende; deine Rechte ist voll Gerechtigkeit.

11 Let mount Sion rejoice, let the daughters of Judaea exult, because of your judgments, O Lord.

Es freue sich der Berg Zion, und die Töchter Judas seien fröhlich um deiner Rechte willen.

12 Go round about Sion, and encompass her: tell you her towers.

Macht euch um Zion und umfahet sie; zählet ihre Türme!

13 Mark you well her strength, and observe her palaces; that you may tell the next generation.

Leget Fleiß an ihre Mauern und erhöhet ihre Paläste, auf daß man davon verkündige bei den Nachkommen,

14 For this is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide for evermore.
